ASBU-MENOS was and remains a revolutionary All-IP networking system used to exchange multimedia content over satellite. The ASBU-MENOS network is used to exchange TV & Radio content. For TV, a single network multiplexes exchange of news, sports, events & programs. The platform was deployed prior to the Beijing 2008 Olympics and has since grown to support not only the initial ASBU members but also non-member broadcasters (e.g. NBC News Channel Sports) who view it as a cost-effective reliable platform for contribution & reception of valuable content. The ASBU-MENOS network has been recognized by the broadcast industry with multiple leading awards: The Saudi Arabian Corporation (SBC, formerly MOCI), recognizing the benefits for their own national broadcast transmission infrastructure, also invested in the system, adding additional services (st HDTV deployment, DTT & FM radio primary distribution). Flexible Video & IP Transport The optimal choice of encapsulation and transport of video & IP over satellite can vary: Native IP and file services are most efficient using GSE encapsulation. Transporting MPEG-2 TS over IP also allows ICT routing and encryption techniques Interoperability with legacy SNGs and IRDs requires transport of MPEG-2 TS over DVB-S2 (typically in single stream CCM mode), minimizing encapsulation overheads The supports multiple modes of Video and IP transport.
