4 Background Thank you for choosing the Arable Bridge. The Arable Mark is an integrated crop health device with an integrated weather monitor and prediction engine. The Mark includes many of the sensors needed for accurate crop health and weather monitoring. These sensors include: Two 7-band spectrometers Acoustic disdrometer Longwave and shortwave sensors Temp/Pressure/Humidity Wireless communications GPS Location Compass/Tilt/Accelerometer The Bridge works together with the Arable Mark and the Arable Solar to extend the Mark s sensor capabilities. There are several sensors that you may connect to the Arable Bridge (see the next page for the approved list). 1 Decision Agriculture

5 Compatible Sensors The chart below shows the sensors that are compatible with the Arable Mark / Arable Bridge system as well as the port(s) on the Arable Bridge that they connect to. 6 Mounting the Arable Bridge The mounting arm of the solar panel is the best place for the Bridge. Use the supplied nuts and bolts to affix to the mounting arm. Recommended Tools: #2 Phillips Screwdriver Small Flat screwdriver Adjustable Wrench Wire Strippers/cutters Additional Zip Ties (for wire management depending upon sensor type) Use the included zip ties to securely fasten the cables to the mounting arm to prevent unintentional disconnection. 3 Decision Agriculture

7 Connect the Solar Panel Remove the 4 top screws and remove the clear cover. Route the power cable from the solar panel through the large cable gland and plug it into the power port. Remove the tightening nut and rubber seal before inserting the power cable. Ensure the cable gland is hand tight around the cable. Hint: Route the small end of the wire through first. 4

8 Connect the Mark Plug the cable from the Arable Bridge into the Mark. Ensure the O-ring is mounted to connector. Press O-ring into cavity with a small screwdriver. 5 Decision Agriculture

9 Connecting the Sensors The following sections describe how to connect the various sensors to the Arable Bridge. Note that only one device per port is allowed. In some instances, a sensor must be connected to multiple ports (e.g. the Davis 6410 Anemometer). During the sensor installation, be sure to follow the installation guidelines and recommendations from the sensor vendor. Hint: Use a small screwdriver to press the retaining tabs on the terminal blocks. Recommended wire gauge is 30-16AWG. After installing the sensors ensure the following to prevent water ingress: The clear top lid is securely fastened with the 4 screws. The Cable Glands are tight around the cable. If no cable is used, ensure the plug is inserted and the gland tightened. 6

10 Aclima TDR-315L The Aclima TDR-315L has an SDI-12 interface. The GREEN LED above Port 3 indicates data transfer. 11 Davis 6410 Anemometer (Model 6410) The Davis 6410 Anemometer has two interfaces: Pulse (wind speed) Analog (wind direction) Cut off the RJI connector and strip the wires to connect to the Aux Bridge. Wire Connections BLACK Port2 Pulse Speed RED Port2 GND Ground GREEN Port1 A IN Direction YELLOW Port1 PWR Meter Note: With jumper (J4) set to 10k, reading will be 0.5 times the sensor output. 13 Gems PS41 Series The Gems PS41 Pressure Switch connects to the Pulse input. Wire Connections NO (Red) Pulse NC (Green) Not Connected COM (Black) GND Note: Ensure the installation guidelines and recommendations from the sensor vendor are followed. 10

14 Decagon ECS, 10HS & GS1 The following Decagon Soil Moisture Sensors have analog output interfaces. The pig tail termination is recommended. The RED LED above Port 1 indicates a power short. Check your connection if this is lit. 15 Decagon DS2 (Atmos 22) Sonic Anemometer The Decagon DS2 (Atmos 22) has an SDI-12 interface. The pig tail termination is recommended. The GREEN LED above Port 3 indicates data transfer. 17 The Irrometer Watermark 200SS / 200SS-VA The Irrometer Watermark 200SS / 200SS-VA Soil Moisture Sensor is used with the voltage adapter (200SS-VA) and has an analog output interface. The RED LED above Port 1 indicates a power short. Check your connection if this is lit. 18 Sentek Drill & Drop MT Probe (SDI-12) The Sentek Drill & Drop MT Probe has an SDI-12 interface. The GREEN LED above Port 3 indicates data transfer. 19 Installation Verification Perform the following to verify your Bridge is installed correctly: Press the button on the top of the Mark unit On the Mark: The LEDs first show last status state Then show animated battery level On the Bridge: RED LED = Power YELLOW LED = Communication GREEN LED = Non-zero value on Port 1 Note: 0 is a valid input for some sensors BLUE LED = Pulses on Port 2 GREEN DATA LED = SDI-12 device found 16
