SPDS (Smart Printer Diagnostic System)? - Smart Printer Diagnostic System is the one and only service available that is completely mobile and a comprehensive technical service system for technical support engineers on the move. It provides an unrivalled pool of information and shared knowledge on how best to troubleshoot printing issues on site. - SPDS is provided to HP printing partners only to analyze and fix Samsung brand printers. 3

6 Preparation - Requirements Samsung Printer or Copier / SPDS support models - Latest models launched after Oct Android and ios based Smart Devices (3G/LTE or Wi-Fi) - Android : All models based on Android 4.0 and above - ios : Latest models including iphone 5 & ipad 2 with later than ios 8.0 version - PC : Windows OS installed PC 6

23 Connecting to Machine Wi-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct - For UI based models : Wi-Fi Direct function (Settings > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi On > Wi-Fi Direct) - For no UI models, press WPS button for a while for connection : LED flicker > Wi-Fi Direct function On at the smart device Select Wi-Fi Direct (3) 23

25 Connecting to Machine ios For ios device, SPDS can connect to the machine by 2 methods. - Wi-Fi support : Select Wi-Fi > Select the machine * Machine should be connected with same router LAN Cable ios device (4) - Wi-Fi not support : Connect to the machine directly by cables (Refer to Wired Connection;9page) * IP Address should be configured as DHCP Lightening USB Ethernet Adapter (NEXT-210CA) 25

27 Connecting to Machine Windows PC Install Zadig driver - Zadig driver must be installed on your PC at least one time per each machine - Setup file is included in SPDS for PC compression file, please refer to SPDS Windows PC download ; 14page * Please make sure this driver is not related with Samsung Printer Driver. - Run Zadig_2.2.exe (1) Option > Check All device (1) 27

47 Test Shading Test - Shading test. Tests scanner operation and scanned image quality. Shading test must be performed in case of replacing mainboard or scan unit. If shading test is failed, inspect scanner lens, furthermore you may need to replace the scan unit * SPDS supports shading test for Platen only. In case of shading test for ADF, please utilize tech-mode in the machine 47

51 Information Firmware Update Firmware Update - Updates firmware, this function is available for A4 printers only (not for A3 copiers) - How to use? 1) Download firmware to PC at the HP official site (hp.com) 51

In order to use download firmware function, firmware file should be located at specific folder : SPDS / FW 3) Run Download Firmware > Select firmware to update * Caution : While update is on progress, don t turn off the smart device and the machine. 52

53 Service - Cloning In case of replacing mainboard, you can overwrite previous options to the new mainboard - Exporting configuration > importing to the new mainboard - Backup data : Machine Setting, Network Setting, Address Book, User Profile Export configuration data Replace mainboard Import configuration data Login with printer Admin ID 53

54 Service - Send Debug Log Sending Debug Log (1) - Download system debug log for reporting to HQ (1) Select period. Log should be included data when the problem was occurred (2) Save. Saving debug log file at the smart device (3) SPDS Server. Only administrator of HQ and Subsidiary can be utilize this function. Debug log file is saved at the SPDS Server, saved data can be (2) (3) download at SPDS web site 54

59 Service Serial No. Setting Serial No. Setting This function can be used when you replace the main board on your Samsung device as a way to carry over the serial number to the new main board. CAUTION :Do not use the Serial No. Setting function unless you replace the main board 59

60 Service Serial No. Setting How to use? 1. Before replacing the main board, make note of the serial number of the previous main board. 2. Connect the SPDS device to the printer. 3. Login in to SPDS and select for the connection type 4. Select Service, and then on the Service menu, select Serial No. Setting

61 Service Serial No. Setting 5. In the Serial number text field, enter the serial number of the previous main board, and then touch OK. A notification will display to indicate that the Serial number has been changed. 6. Touch OK to accept the notification. Printer will reboot. 7. After the printer reboots, print a Configuration Report, or view the Information menu in SPDS to make sure the serial number was saved correctly

62 FAQ Q) I cannot set up serial number after replacing mainboard A) Only HQ and Subsidiary members has the authority to reset the serial number. Please contact subsidiary service rep. Q) When I input the serial number on the replaced mainboard, error code (Error 50, Error 650) is occurred. A) Please refer to below symptom and then retry. - Error 50 : User inputted wrong serial number. - Error 650: Need to examine the log from the device Q) SPDS cannot connect to the printer for old model A) SPDS doesn t support the old models (e.g. CLP-6220FX). Please check the specification of each model. In order to use SPDS, the machine should be supported SDPS/DCU Q) SPDS error occurred repeatedly, how can I get technical support?
