8 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning 4 Safety Instructions Only use the device if it is in technically perfect condition, according to the intended purpose, in a safety and hazard conscious manner and in compliance with the follow ing safety instructions: Qualified Personnel The assembly, installation, connection, commissioning and configuration of the device may only be carried out by qualified personnel. This also applies to the maintenance, inspection and repair of the device in complying with the regulations of the DIN VDE series of standards (VDE : Inspection after repair, modification of electrical appliances Periodic inspection on electrical appliances General requirements for electrical safety ). Regulations The use of video and audio security/surveillance systems is, in general, strictly regulated. Before using the device, inform yourself about the currently valid laws and regulations regarding data, worker and environmental protection and ensure compliance with them. System Components Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Condensation If the device is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulting condensation may cause malfunctions and damage. In this case, wait until the device has reached room temperature (up to 8 hours) before commissioning. Rev Dallmeier 9

10 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning Earthing & Equipotential Bonding For the safety of persons (protection against dangerous contact voltages) and devices (protection against over-voltages) as well as for the immunity of information and communication technology equipment to electromagnetic interferences (EMI), all protective measures, which are specified by the currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant grounding/earthing and a correct equipotential bonding of electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fulfilled by all means. Lightning Storms To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms, all protective measures, which are specified by the currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant lightning protection equipotential bonding, are mandatory and must be fulfilled by all means. Operating Conditions Unfavorable operating conditions may shorten the lifetime of the device, may cause malfunctions, damage and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty. Observe the specifications given in the technical data, the operating condition requirements and the maintenance instructions. 10 Rev Dallmeier

11 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN Foreign Bodies in the Device If objects or liquids get into the device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug or disconnect the device from the PoE enabled PSE port). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area. Burnt Smell from the Device If you notice burnt smell or a formation of smoke coming from the device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug or disconnect the device from the PoE enabled PSE port). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area. Opening the Device The device may only be opened by qualified personnel for commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair. Disposal of the Device Do not dispose waste electrical and electronic equipment into the household trash. Disconnect the device from the power supply. Remove all connected peripherals. Dallmeier is not responsible for any damage resulting from unprofessional or improper transportation. The device should only be shipped in the original packaging. If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the used packaging sufficiently protects the device against damage, moisture, heat and cold. 14 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning Appropriate Use The SDF5410HD-DN is a high-resolution single-sensor network camera with fisheye lens for detailed capturing of a 360 field of view within a complete half-space (full panoramic view of a hemisphere without blind spots 360 horizontal and 90 vertical field of view). The camera hardware is built into a compact IP54 dome housing that is designed for indoor surface mount installations on ceilings and walls. The device can be operated with Power over Ethernet (PoE, Class 0, IEEE 802.3af) or powered by an external 24 V DC power supply unit. NOTICE Damage to the device due to unsuitable mounting location The device is exclusively designed for indoor use. An outdoor installation is prohibited and may result in malfunction, damage, data loss and loss of warranty. Do not install/operate the device in outdoor environments. 14 Rev Dallmeier

15 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN Operation Observe the following notes for operating the device: If the device or the cables connected to the device are located near sources with strong radiation (e.g. radio transmitters, magnetic fields), the video image may be distorted. The device is equipped with Automatic Gain Control (AGC). In low-light conditions the image may be altered (e.g. noise). This is not a malfunction. The video image quality depends on the lighting conditions and the used monitor. The accuracy of the Automatic White Balance (AWB) algorithm depends on the used lighting. Mixed light (consisting of artificial light and daylight) may cause color distortions (inaccurate color reproduction). Poor lighting can lead to an incorrect white balance. Rev Dallmeier 15

16 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning Approvals/Certifications The following approvals/certifications were valid for the device at the time of this document s compilation: CE FCC RCM UL DIN compliant Visit for possible updates. Note (USA) This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. 16 Rev Dallmeier

17 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN 6 Requirements Ambient Conditions The device is designed for indoor use. However, the device may not be installed and operated in environments with a large amount of dust and dirt, steam or oil vapors (e.g. kitchen), direct sunlight, high heat radiation (e.g. radiator), improper ambient temperatures, nearby strong radiation sources (e.g. radio transmitters, magnetic fields), corrosive gases and liquids (e.g. salt water), insufficient air ventilation (e.g. closed cabinet). NOTICE Damage to the device due to unfavorable ambient conditions Use of the device under unfavorable ambient conditions may shorten its lifetime and may cause malfunction or damage to the device. Only install/operate the device under favorable ambient conditions. Rev Dallmeier 17

18 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning Power Supply The device can be operated with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and is compatible with all Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) that is compliant with the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Alternatively, the device can also be powered by an external 24 V DC power supply unit. WARNING Electrical shock caused by exposed electrical parts and due to the lack of or improper grounding/earthing Risk of death or serious injury The installation of the device and the connection of peripheral equipment may only be carried out by qualified personnel and in a voltage-free state. Before connecting or disconnecting an external DC power supply unit, make sure that the power supply unit is disconnected from the mains socket (pull the power plug out of the socket). Carry out all protective measures for a standard-compliant grounding/earthing of the device in accordance with the currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards in order to ensure the safety of persons (protection against dangerous contact voltages). 18 Rev Dallmeier

19 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN NOTICE Damage to the device due to improper power supply Damage to electronic components or serious malfunctions Always ensure the correct polarity when connecting an external DC power supply unit. Do not operate the device with Power over Ethernet (PoE) if the device is powered by an external DC power supply unit. Damage to the device or malfunctions due to the lack of or improper grounding/earthing Damage to electronic components caused by lightning strikes and over-voltages (electrical surges) or malfunctions due to electromagnetic interferences Carry out all protective measures for a standard-compliant grounding/earthing and a correct equipotential bonding of the device in accordance with the currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards in order to ensure the safety of the device (protection against over-voltages) and its immunity to electromagnetic interferences (EMI). 20 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning If you operate the device with Power over Ethernet (PoE), observe the following notes: NOTICE Damage to the contacts of the RJ45 connectors by contact erosion when unmating the jack-plug connection under PoE load Un-mating the jack-plug connection while transmitting PoE power causes erosion and pitting by electrical arcs on both the jack and plug contacts (especially when repeatedly un-mating the jack-plug connection under PoE load). Electrical arcs are generated, since the electric potential difference (voltage) and therefore the intensity of the electric field between the contacts rises sharply when un-mating the jack-plug connection. The more un-mating cycles are carried out under PoE load, the higher the loss of contact material due to metal evaporation by electrical arcs, which in turn accelerates the material erosion process on the contact surfaces. Damaged contacts with an increased contact resistance may lead to a reduced data transfer rate, unreliable network connectivity or even total device failure. Always disable PoE on the relevant port of your PoE switch (or PoE midspan device) or disconnect the used single-port PoE injector from the power supply before un-mating the jack-plug connection in order to prevent damage to the contacts of the RJ45 connectors by contact erosion. 20 Rev Dallmeier

22 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning 7 Maintenance and Cleaning Maintenance and Inspection of the Device Maintenance and inspection of the device may only be carried out by qualified personnel in compliance with the regulations of the DIN VDE series of standards (VDE : Inspection after repair, modification of electrical appliances Periodic inspection on electrical appliances General requirements for electrical safety ). Cleaning the Housing If it is necessary to clean the housing, observe the following notes: NOTICE Damage to the housing surfaces due to improper cleaning practices Clean the outside of the housing with a clean, soft, dry and antistatic cloth. 23 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN Cleaning the Lens If it is necessary to clean the lens, observe the following notes: NOTICE Damage to the lens element due to improper cleaning practices Remove dust and other small particles from the lens element with a suitable bulb blower and/or a special lens dust brush to avoid scratching the lens. Do not use canned air or cotton buds for cleaning the lens element. To remove greasy dirt such as fingerprints, only use cleaning products (lens cleaning solutions, cleaning wipes, etc.) that are specially designed for cleaning optical surfaces. Do not use organic solvents (alcohol, benzine) for cleaning the lens element. Generally, be aware not to touch the lens element to avoid fingerprints. Rev Dallmeier 23

24 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning 8 Installation and Commissioning The installation and commissioning of the device may only be carried out by qualified personnel. The following tools/accessories are required for the installation of the device: Torx screwdriver with hollow point (T20 H) or equivalent tool for tamper-resistant 6-lobe security screw with pin (Torx-TR 20) Circular rubber gasket for housing base PG16 cable gland with suitable sealing insert Drilling template, marking tool (e.g. center punch or awl) and electric drill Three mounting screws (Ø 4 mm) and dowels + suitable screwdriver WARNING Personal injury caused by falling device or collapsing supporting structure Risk of death or serious injury to the head Before installing the device, follow the manufacturer s instructions regarding the maximum permissible carrying capacity of the supporting structure. To mount the housing base, only use screws and, if necessary, dowels that are suitable for the ceiling/wall type and construction material, such as for example: Plastic screw anchors for use in solid masonry materials (concrete/brick) Gravity or spring toggle anchors for use in drywall systems (plasterboard) 24 Rev Dallmeier

33 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN Mark the drill holes for the mounting screws on the ceiling/wall (use the supplied drilling template if necessary). At the marked locations, drill holes fitting the used screws/anchors. Push anchors that are suitable for the ceiling/wall type and construction material into the drill holes. Mount the housing base with three suitable screws (including O-rings) to the ceiling/wall. NOTICE: Tighten the three mounting screws slowly and with normal force to avoid damage to the O-rings. 34 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning ❽ Attach the housing cover back to the housing base. NOTICE: Make sure that the O-ring is seated correctly in the housing cover to ensure optimum tightness (see next page). 34 Rev Dallmeier

35 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN NOTICE Damage to the device, malfunctions and reduced lifetime of the device caused by ingress of moisture, dust and dirt After removing the housing cover, the O-ring may slip out of the provided groove (left figure) which will result in loss of tightness. Before re-attaching the housing cover, make sure that the O-ring is seated correctly (right figure) to ensure optimum tightness. To simplify insertion into the provided groove, slightly overstretch the O-ring several times beforehand. Rev Dallmeier 35

36 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning ❾ a 1.0 Nm a Torx screwdriver with hollow point (T20 H) Tighten the three tamper-resistant torx screws (Torx-TR 20) of the housing cover in clockwise direction using a torx screwdriver with hollow point (T20 H) or an equivalent tool. NOTICE: Observe the maximum permissible torque of 1.0 Nm to prevent damage to the O-rings of the housing screws. 36 Rev Dallmeier

38 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning 9 Mounting the Camera to a Wall Improper image orientation due to incorrect camera mounting When mounting the camera to a wall, mount the housing base with the cable entry pointing horizontally to the right so that the camera image is correctly rotated later on. 38 Rev Dallmeier

43 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN NOTICE Damage and data loss due to an incompatible memory card The use of an incompatible memory card may damage the device or memory card or corrupt the data stored on it, resulting in malfunctions and loss of data. Only use memory cards that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier (failure to do so may result in the loss of warranty). Damage to the device or memory card due to incorrect card insertion Make sure that the contacts of the used memory card are facing forward and downwards when inserting it into the memory card slot of the camera (as shown in the preceding figure). The memory card automatically locks into place by use of a spring mechanism when it is inserted into the memory card slot. To unlock the memory card, gently press the card into the memory card slot again and release it. The card then pops slightly out of the slot so you can remove it. If necessary, insert a suitable memory card into the microsdxc compatible memory card slot. Rev Dallmeier 43

46 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning 13 Connection and Login The configuration of the device is carried out with a PC and web browser over the local area network (LAN). Alternatively, the device can be connected directly to the PC via an Ethernet crossover cable. If you intend to operate the device with Power over Ethernet in this case, a single-port PoE injector is additionally required. 47 Commissioning SDF5410HD-DN Connection The factory default IP address of the device is: Ensure that your PC/web browser can establish an Ethernet connection to the device (if necessary, contact your network administrator for more information and assistance). Start the web browser. Enter the IP address of the device into the address bar of the web browser. Confirm the input. The connection to the device is then established. 48 SDF5410HD-DN Commissioning Login The web-based graphical user interface (GUI) of the configuration mode is displayed for authenticated and authorized users only. The factory default login credentials of the administrator account are: User name: admin Password: 3 NOTICE Risk of unauthorized access to the device and intentional misuse of the system Change the default login credentials of the administrator account as soon as possible. Enter your login credentials. Confirm with OK. After a successful login, the graphical user interface of the configuration mode is displayed. Configure all required settings.
