4 1 This document 1.1 Validity This document applies to the DMS NetConfig 2 software. The descriptions in this document are based on the following software versions: Microsoft* ) Windows* ) 7 DMS NetConfig Document This document contains detailed descriptions of the installation and operation of the software. Target audience is the operator of the software. No special technical knowledge is required. 1.3 Conventions The following warning word and symbol indicate potential sources of danger in this document. Notice NOTICE indicates practices for preventing property damage, incorrect configurations or faulty operations. Instructions are indicated with arrows ( ). Expressions in bold/italics generally indicate a control element on the user interface (buttons, menu entries). Paragraphs in italics provide information on basic principles, special features and efficient procedure as well as general recommendations. 4

5 2 General notes 2.1 Appropriate Use DMS NetConfig 2 is a tool for remote configuration of various 4th generation Dallmeier recorders. After the connection is established via Ethernet the genuine graphical user interface of the recorder is displayed in a window on the workstation. The entire configuration of the recorder now can be accomplished as easy as on the recorder itself. 2.2 Performance Features DMS NetConfig 2 is characterized by the following functions and properties. Supported by VNB series recorders as of version Supported by DMS, DLS and DMX series recorders as of version Easy installation and operation Available free of charge Note that the previous version DMS NetConfig is supported by all older generation 3 and 4 software versions. The appropriate compatible versions are available for download directly from the recorder or in the Dallmeier Partner Forum. 2.3 Warranty The terms and conditions valid at the signing of the contract shall apply. 5

6 3 Installation 3.1 System Requirements The DMS NetConfig 2 workstation must meet at least the following requirements: Operating system Microsoft Windows XP SP 3/ Windows 7 Processor (CPU) 1,0 GHz Main memory (RAM) 512 MB Graphic board VGA compatible Display resolution 1024 x 768 Ethernet 100 MBit/s Storage space 20 MB Ports Setup The DMS NetConfig 2 setup will install all required components on the system. Before starting the setup please note that administrator rights are required. Proceed as follows to install DMS NetConfig 2 with all required components. ¾¾Close all applications. ¾¾Start the DMSNetConfig2_Installer.exe file. The Select Language dialogue is displayed. ¾¾Select the language for the installation dialogues. ¾¾Confirm with OK. ¾¾Confirm the subsequent welcome dialogue with Next. ¾¾Confirm the end user licence agreement dialogue with Agree. The Select installation directory dialogue is displayed. 6

7 Fig. 3-1 Select installation directory dialogue ¾¾Change the Installation Directory, if necessary. ¾¾Confirm with Next. The Start installation dialogue is displayed. Fig. 3-2 Start installation dialogue ¾¾Confirm with Next. ¾¾Finally confirm the subsequent information dialogue with Finish. The DMS NetConfig 2 installation will be executed. No further settings have to be made. 7

8 4 Operation DMS NetConfig 2 requires the current IP address and the access data of the relevant recorder in order to establish a connection. 4.1 Access Data The recorder s access data normally is defined during the configuration. A recorder in default state can be connected using the following data: Mode Group login IP address (can be changed with the software IP-Finder without login) Password Serial number (e.g. DAE-12345) Note that the definition of the passwords and of the network parameters is necessary for remote access with Dallmeier PView7 or Dallmeier WebConfig. 4.2 Connection ¾¾Ensure that the workstation can connect to the recorder via Ethernet. ¾¾Start the DMS NetConfig 2 application. The Login dialogue is displayed. Fig. 4-1 Login dialogue ¾¾Set the required login Mode. ¾¾Enter the IP address. ¾¾Enter the Password. ¾¾Confirm with Login. The connection to the recorder is established. The graphical configuration interface is displayed. 8
