4 1 Introduction 1.1 Validity This document applies to the installation of the SeMSy III Workstation Software. 6 2 General Notes 2.1 Appropriate Use SeMSy III is a high-performance and future-proof video management system with ultimate user friendliness. It offers a comprehensive range of functions, including the display of live images, various search options within the footage, the control of PTZ cameras and an easy archiving of relevant sequences. The SeMSy III Workstation Software is the central control and evaluation instrument of the entire SeMSy III Video Management System. The various functions are designed as modules and allow for an adjustment of the user interface to the individual requirements of a workstation. The basic modules are included in all package variants of the SeMSy III Workstation Software and offer the possibility of benefiting from the advantages of the SeMSy III Video Management System at all times. 2.2 Performance Features SeMSy III is especially characterized by the following functions and properties: Operation via drag and drop Easy and intuitive Individually adjustable user interface Storage of adjusted user interfaces Display of alarm messages PTZ control via GUI or optional with VMC-2 Evaluation via GUI or optional with VMC-2 Diverse search functions including SmartFinder Scalable without limits Integration of 3 rd party systems 2.3 Warranty The terms and conditions valid at the signing of the contract shall apply. 6

7 3 System Requirements The following system requirements must be met for the installation of the SeMSy III Workstation Software: Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 / 10 (32 / 64 Bit) Processor (CPU) Intel *) Core *) i7-6 0, minimum 3.5 GHz or equivalent Main Memory (RAM) DDR4, minimum 16 GB Graphics Card (GPU) Nvidia *) GeForce *) CUDA *) support; VGA compatible Resolution (VGA) or (digital) Ethernet 100 Mbps Storage 128 GB SSD recommended 7

8 4 Installation The Installer setup installs all necessary components on the system. Note before start, that administrator rights are required for the installation. that no MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 driver must be installed on the system. that a SeMSy III Setup Server must be available and accessible over the network. Proceed as follows in order to install the SeMSy III Workstation Software: ¾¾Close all running applications. ¾¾Start the file SeMSy_III_Installer_x.x.x_Prof_Enterprise.exe. The Select Language dialog is displayed. Fig. 4-1 ¾¾Select the required option. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 8

9 The welcome dialog is displayed. Fig. 4-2 ¾¾Click Next >. The dialog for confirmation of the End User License Agreement is displayed. Fig. 4-3 ¾¾Read and confirm with Agree >. 9

10 The ReadMe dialog is displayed with information on system requirements and software versions of the applications to be installed. Fig. 4-4 ¾¾Read and confirm the dialog with Next >. 12 The dialog is displayed for entering the connection to the SeMSy III Setup Server. Fig. 4-8 ¾¾Observe the notes of the dialog. ¾¾Enter the address of the SeMSy III Setup Server as the Connection. ¾¾Confirm the input with OK. The installation is performed. Fig

Subsequently, another prerequisite component installation will start automatically. The installation of the Network Time Protocol is started. The dialog of the NTP License Agreement is displayed. 14 The dialog for selecting the NTP installation directory is displayed. Fig ¾¾Select via Browse... another directory for the NTP installation if required. ¾¾Confirm the selection with Next >. The dialog for selecting the NTP components to be installed is displayed. Fig ¾¾Disable components if required. ¾¾Confirm the selection with Next >. 14

Fig ¾¾Enable the Create an initial configuration file with the following settings check box. ¾¾Make the required settings. ¾¾Click Next >. Fig ¾ ¾ Confirm the following information dialog in order to display the generated configuration file with Yes. 15

16 The ntp.conf file is displayed in a text editor. Fig ¾¾Edit the line #server : ¾¾Remove the # comment character and enter the PC host name or the IP address of the SeMSy III Setup Server in order to use as a backup either the local system time or the system time of SeMSy III Setup Server. ¾¾Save and close the ntp-conf file. The dialog for configuring the NTP service settings is displayed. Normally the already activated settings in the dialog can be used. Fig ¾¾Click Next > in order to create a NTP service account. 16

17 The dialog for configuring the NTP service account is displayed. Fig ¾¾Enter a user name. ¾¾Enter a password and Confirm it. ¾¾Click Next >. The dialog for completion of the NTP installation is displayed. Fig ¾¾Confirm with Finish. 17

18 The MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 database driver installation starts automatically: Fig ¾¾Click Next >. The dialog for confirmation of the license agreement is displayed. Fig ¾¾Read and accept the license agreement with activating the I accept the terms in the license agreement check box. ¾¾Confirm the selection with Next >. 18

19 The dialog for selecting the type of setup is displayed. Fig ¾¾Select Typical as the setup type. ¾¾Confirm the selection with Next >. The dialog is displayed with the overview of the installation parameters. Fig ¾¾Check the selection of setup type and the installation directory in the Current Settings window. ¾¾Click < Back in order to return to the previous dialogs and change settings if required. ¾ ¾ Click Install in order to run the installation of the database driver MySQL Connector/ ODBC

20 The final dialog of the Setup Wizard is displayed. Fig ¾¾Confirm the completion with Finish. The system must be restarted in order to complete the installation of the SeMSy III Workstation Software. Fig ¾¾Confirm the reboot with OK. 20

21 5 First Start Note after the reboot of the system and before the first launch of the SeMSy III Workstation Software, that for the software activation a Dallmeier License Dongle (Pro) must be plugged into the workstation or a Dallmeier License Dongle (Net 10) must be accessible over the network. ¾¾Double-click the desktop icon. The dialog Login is displayed: Fig. 5-1 ¾¾Enter User name and Password. ¾¾Confirm the input with Login. The user interface of the SeMSy III Workstation Software is displayed depending on the preferences: Fig
