3 Introduction 1 Introduction The µ-icc 2.45 compact is buildt of removable components and provide the opportunity to replace several parts. This instruction guideline will help you to simplify a repairing process in case of a damage of single components. In the following will be explained how to open and replace the several components. 2 Safety instructions It is not allowed to change the frequency of the device. Furthermore other manipulation within the device could involve criminally consequences. The operating is only allowed if the system is in good order and condition. There are only those persons allowed to operate with this system, who are briefed and qualified. Reconstructions or changes, which may have an influence on a safety operating, are prohibited specifically. Without exact knowledge of this manual there must not be changes on the configuration. 4 Open the housing 3 Open the housing Before opening the evaluation unit the power supply must be interrupted! It s prohibited to work with opened device while it s energized! For opening the housing you have to unscrew the four screws onto the cover. Therefore you have to find an adequate crosstip screwdriver. With this one you can remove most of the used screws. unscrew There are two yellow-green cables for grounding. For a better handling you could remove these cables by unscrewing either the both screws in the cover or the screws on the bottom. ground cables 3

5 Constituent parts within the housing 4 Constituent parts within the housing The following parts are included within the housing: Display with foil keyboard, integrated in the cover Microwave module CPU-board Interface-board with SD-/ SD-HC-card slot Motherboard with internal connectors Ribbon cable (for display) Interface board CPU-board Microwave module Motherboard Connector plug (signal output) 4

6 Constituent parts within the housing Connector plugs o 4 wire connection Pt ma output sample push-button o Cable entry 4-20 ma output 24V DC power o TNC connection (24V DC output or option) o USB connection The connector plugs (except the microwave cable N-plugs) could be removed by unscrewing the exterior coupling nuts. Additionally there is a pressure balance plug in, which belongs to the housing and in general it is not replaced. For unscrewing there are following tools needed: 4 wire connection: 19 mm open-end wrench Cable entries: 20 mm open-end wrench USB connection: 25.5 mm open-end wrench TNC connection: 16 mm open-end wrench 5

7 Disassembling of the components 5 Disassembling of the components For disassembling of the several parts you have to remove the ribbon cable between the display and the CPU-board. Therefore push the both pins of the plug outwards and carefully pull the plug out. pins connectors Furthermore you have to remove the green connectors (4 pieces) from the motherboard. The connector of the USB connection is an element of the motherboard and can not be removed separately. 5.1 LCD-Display with foil keyboard To change the whole cover with display you only have to remove the yellow-green ground cables on the bottom by unscrewing the both screws (if you haven t already done). If there is a need to replace the display without the cover, do the following: Remove the four screws of the board. 6

8 Disassembling of the components unscrew Now you can lift the board, but carefully! Mind there are two ribbon cables on the other side, like you see on the picture below. Remove the both ribbon cables by carefully pushing onto the pins. 7

9 Disassembling of the components Simultaneously pressing on the brown part Below the board there are six more screws and also four screw nuts to remove. For unscrewing the screw nuts you should use a 10 mm open-end wrench. unscrew After that the display is now unfixed and can be taken out. For replacing a new display take the same steps backwards. 8

10 Disassembling of the components 5.2 Microwave module Ribbon cable (for module) For removing of the microwave module first you have to remove the ribbon cable between the module and the motherboard. Therefore push the both pins of the plug outwards and carefully pull the plug out (same procedure as with the display ribbon cable). Now you have to unscrew three small screws on the side of the module. Therefore you should use a 1.5 mm hexagon socket screw key. unscrew 9

11 Disassembling of the components Finally you have to unscrew the both coupling nuts of the N-plugs. unscrew After that you can carefully pull the module with the N-plugs out of the two holes. For replacing a new module take the same steps backwards. 10

12 Disassembling of the components 5.3 Interface-board, CPU-board and motherboard For removing of the interface-board, the CPU-board or the motherboard first you have to take out the complete configuration. Therefore primarily you have to remove the SMB cable (white cable). Maybe you have to use a little forceps to grasp this connector. Moreover you must loose the coupling nut of the USB connection to take it out together with the boards. Now you must unscrew the three screws of the base plate. 13 Disassembling of the components Removing Interface-board Before removing the interface-board, mind to take out the SD-card (if inserted). For removing the interface board you just have to unscrew two screws of the mounting and then carefully pull out of the slot. unscrew SD-card slot Then you get the mounting with the board on it. Here you only have to unscrew the four screws of the mounting, then the board is ready for replacement. unscrew 12

14 Disassembling of the components Removing CPU-board Before removing the CPU-board mind to have removed the interfaceboard. For removing the CPU-board you just have to unscrew two screws of the mounting and then carefully pull out of the slot. unscrew Then you get the mounting with the board on it. Here you only have to unscrew the four screws of the mounting, then the board is ready for replacement. unscrew 13

15 Disassembling of the components Removing motherboard Before removing the motherboard mind to have removed the interfaceboard and the CPU-board. For removing the motherboard you just have to unscrew six screws of the mounting. unscrew Now the board is ready for replacement. 14

16 Assembling 6 Assembling With the assembling you have to mind to take all the steps backwards.
