Communication & Beyond: Eye-Gaze Technology to Control the Computer HOW DOES IT WORK?
A camera sees the user s eyes and how it moves in space. The camera looks for two things: 1. Reflective glints on the eye 2. The pupil
The glints are a result of illuminators or lights reflecting on the cornea.
Two types of Eye Tracking The camera will see a dark pupil when the illuminators shine at an angle to the pupil. The camera will see a bright pupil when the illuminators shine directly at the pupil.
A Smart Eye Tracker! Algorithms are used to calculate the position of the eye. The light source and the camera are two parts of that calculation... + algorithms/software = Eye tracking system
Communication & Beyond: Eye-Gaze Technology to Control the Computer GETTING READY TO USE EYE TRACKING
First Steps: Positioning If the eye tracker can t see the individual s eye(s), that person can t use eye control. Ensure that the eye tracker can clearly see the individual s eyes.
