4 Glossary Carbon Footprint The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) released into the atmosphere as a byproduct of energy production. Circuit A circuit represents a wire or group of wires that provide power to or from a device, electrical outlet, or room. Energy In this context, electricity involved in a buildingʼs electrical systems. Energy Group Two or more devices grouped together because they are similar or they share a location. Energy Monitor User Interface The components of the Savant TrueControl App for ipad which pertain to monitoring energy usage. Net Usage The total energy consumption of a building minus the total energy production. Peak and Off-Peak Rates Some power companies charge different rates depending on the time of day or other factors. Popover A popup menu in ipad applications which presents a list of choices. Savant TrueControl App Savantʼs ipad app for interacting with a Savant system. Total Consumption The total amount of electricity being drawn by all devices in a group or building. Total Production The total amount of electricity being produced by solar panels, wind generators, geothermal power, and other sources of energy production. 5 Overview The Energy Monitor User Interface is accessed by tapping the Energy category icon introduced in the Savant TrueControl app version or later. Within the Energy category are the following service icons, each with its own screen: Dashboard See an overview of the energy activity in the system. A large gauge shows current net power usage, as well as a breakdown of all circuits in your system. Smaller gauges show total energy consumption and production, and a graph shows recent energy usage history. Table The table lists all of the circuits in the system and shows a real-time reading, in watts, plus a cumulative total over a customizable time range. Sort by any column, and display detailed electrical information about individual circuits. Meters Pick any group or individual meters using the popover in the Meters button, and this screen will show the real-time reading for each circuit in that group. History See a detailed view of energy usage over a selectable time range. Change the types to see an estimate of cost and carbon footprint. Rates Enter the rates listed on your energy bill, and the app will be able to provide estimates of energy cost for each circuit. If your bill lists different peak and off-peak rates, add a row for each time segment. SmartEnergy Monitor User Guide Savant Confidential and Proprietary 5

Types picker 10.Total consumption The Dashboard gives you an at-a-glance overview of your energy usage. You can see your current net power usage and separate smaller gauges for total consumption and production. The Dashboard is set up such that you can see the most important information (your net energy usage) from across the room. 7 Under the needle of the main gauge, a set of pie slices shows you a breakdown of each circuitʼs contribution to your total consumption. Pie slices flash green when they get smaller and red when they get larger, to indicate decreases or increases in energy usage. Tap the pie slice for a group of circuits to zoom in on that group, allowing you to easily identify high-usage devices. If your system has device control enabled, press and hold any pie slice to display a button to go to control that device. You can see a list of any circuits or groups that are too small to show labels by tapping the More tab at the bottom of the pie slices. Tap a circuit or group in this list to zoom into it. If your system has device control enabled, tap the blue right-facing arrow button next to any circuit to control it. At the bottom of the dashboard is a graph which shows usage over time. If you have tapped on a pie slice to zoom in on a particular circuit or group, the graph will show usage for just that group. Above the graph are buttons to choose the time range (1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or 30 days) and types (kwh, pounds of carbon, or dollars) for the graph. These buttons let you easily see an estimate of how much a particular device or group of devices has cost you over time. SmartEnergy Monitor User Guide Savant Confidential and Proprietary 7

Control arrow Use the table to see detailed real-time and historical energy usage information for your entire system. If the list of circuits is too long to fit on the screen, you can scroll it vertically. By default, the table is sorted by the current power reading, measured in watts, in descending order. Circuits are grouped together, making it easy to identify your top consumers or producers. SmartEnergy Monitor User Guide Savant Confidential and Proprietary 8

9 The Net Power row shows the total of all circuits that have been assigned as net power. However, if no circuits are assigned as net power, then the Net Power row shows the difference between production and consumption. The Production row shows the calculations of the sum of all production circuits. The Consumption row shows the calculations of the sum of all consumption circuits. Each row contains a small bar graph which indicateʼs that rowʼs magnitude in relation to the other circuits. Circuits or groups that are producing more than they are consuming have green bars and a green leaf icon. Tap the column header for the Circuit column, Reading column, or History column to sort by that column. It is also possible to change the display of some of the columns by pressing and holding on the column header, which will display a list of display options: Press and hold the Circuit column header to choose whether to display the items in a Grouped or Ungrouped fashion. Choosing Ungrouped will hide the group headers and allow the rows to be sorted individually. Press and hold the History column header to choose whether to display history totals for the last 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or 30 days. You can collapse all groups, hiding individual circuits, by tapping any blue beveled group header row. Tap a group row again to expand all groups. Collapsing groups are not available when the Circuit column is set to Ungrouped. You can tap the individual values in the reading column and history column to cycle through more types of information. Tapping any value in the reading column will cycle: power (watts), volts, current (amps), and power factor. Tapping any value in the history column will cycle: energy (kwh), cost ($), carbon footprint (lbs CO2). If a circuit has been set up to allow for control through the Savant TrueControl app, it will have a blue arrow at its right-hand edge. Tap this arrow to switch to the appropriate zone or service. The values displayed in the Group Header rows are the sum of all the values of the circuit rows which make up each group. SmartEnergy Monitor User Guide Savant Confidential and Proprietary 9

If you have a group that contains more than six circuits, it will automatically be divided into sub-groups. For example, if a group called Appliances contained ten circuits, it would appear in the Groups picker as Appliances 1-6 and Appliances The meters display the realtime power readings for the selected circuits. After choosing a group, tap the label next to any meter (including blank ones) to customize the display further by choosing individual circuits or groups for each meter. The Circuit picker allows you to choose any circuit or group in your system; the Time range picker lets you see how the selected circuit or group has behaved over the last hour, day, week, or thirty days, and the Types picker gives you the option to see an estimate of how much the selected circuit or group has cost in kwh, dollars, or pounds of carbon. Edit button Enter the rates printed on your energy bill into the Rates screen so that cost estimates can be calculated 1. By default, the Rates screen has a single entry, populated with the national average energy rates. To edit the default rate, tap the Edit button, which will put the screen into editing mode. 1 Cost estimates are calculated by multiplying the rates that you input by the readings from the Savant SmartEnergy Monitor. Number picker If your energy bill has different rates for peak and off-peak times, you can add more rows by tapping the green Add Row button on the left of the list of rates. To delete a row, tap that rowʼs Delete Row button and then tap the Delete button that appears to the right of the row to confirm. The values in the Time column indicate when each rate goes into effect. When you are done entering changes, tap the Done button to put them into effect. As a shortcut, you can delete a row by swiping your finger across it from left to right or right to left and then tap the Delete button that appears to the right of the row to confirm.
