1 Install llation Instruction ons Document No Rev. 2, January, 1999 Unit Vent Controller 0-10 V Output Produ oduct Description These instructions explain how to field install (pages 1 through 3) or replace (pages 3 through 4) a Unit Vent Controller 0-10V Output (for unit ventilator applications). Produ oduct Numbe ber hipping carton includes a controller assembly (controller board and cover), a mounting rail, and two self-tapping/drilling screws. NOTE: Keep the controller assembly in its static-proof bag until you install it on the mounting rail. (6.35 mm) hex nut bit Portable Operator s Terminal with Controller Interface oftware Rev. 2.0 or higher (required for controller replacement only) Additional tools needed if not using self-tapping option: 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) hex nut driver 1/8 in. New Install llation Instr truction ons NOTE: These steps only refer to new installations. For replacement instructions, refer to pages 3-4. The following tasks can be performed by the electrician: 1. Using the mounting rail as a template (re 1), mark the location for the two screw holes where you will install the controller assembly. 2. Do one of the following: If using the self-tapp pping screws: Using the drill and the hex nut bit, fasten the mounting rail with the screws. (crews do not require starter holes.). If not using the self-tapp pping screws: Drill two 1/8 in. (3 mm) pilot holes for the screws. Align the mounting rail with the holes. Using the hex nut driver, fasten the mounting rail with the #6 or #8 screws. 1 of 19

Unit Ven ent Con ontr troll ller V Output. BT LED 3. Place the ED wrist strap on your wrist and attach it to a good earth ground 4. Carefully remove the controller assembly from the anti-static bag. Center it over the mounting rail and snap it securely into place. 5. Connect the Local Area Network () trunk (re 3). Do not connect an earth ground to the hield () terminal. 6. Connect the point wiring. Use Tables 1-3 to find the wiring diagram (res 5-23) for your particular hardware configuration and unit ventilator application. The Controller s Digital Outputs (DOs) control 24 Vac loads only. The maximum rating is 12 VA for each DO. For higher VA requirements, 110 or 220 Vac requirements, separate transformers used to power the load, or DC power requirements, use an interposing 220 V 4-relay module (TEC Relay Module P/N ). NOTE: Each DO provides a Normally Open (NO) and a Common (C) terminal. Terminate both connections of a 24 Vac load directly to the controller board. NOTE: The 24 Vac H terminal is switched through a TRIAC to the NO terminations when the associated DO is energized. 7. To prevent damage to the unit if someone manually de-energizes the fan at the fan motor speed switch, do one of the following: 8. Wire the 24 Vac power supply for the actuators in series with the fan motor speed switch. 9. Wire a voltage sensing contact to the fan motor so that if no voltage is sensed, then the contact will open, cutting the 24 Vac power supply to the actuators. Refer to res 21 through 23 as required for example purposes only. For more detail, refer to the wiring diagram on the unit. re 21 for Trane units re 22 for nyder General units re 23 for Nesbitt units 10. Plug the Room Temperature ensor cable into the RT port on the controller board. Refer to re 1. 2 of iemens Building Technologies, Inc.

3 11. Connect the power trunk as shown in re 4. DO NOT apply power to the controller. The installation is complete. Rep eplac acemen ent Instr truction ons iemens Building Technologies, Inc. Replacement of a TEC requires you to record, re-enter, or update the initial point values of the controller you are replacing. These are the points marked with an asterisk (*) on the Controller Interface oftware (CI) display. NOTE: CI Rev. 2.0 or higher is required for controller replacement. The following tasks can be performed by the system specialist: 1. Place the ED wrist strap on your wrist and attach it to a good earth ground. 2. Before disconnecting the old controller, do one of the following: NOTE: If the new controller has a newer firmware revision than the old controller, then skip to the third bullet. If the old controller communicates with the field panel, then update the controller initial values at the field panel. If the old controller does not communicate with the field panel, but communicates with the CI, or if the controller is stand-alone, then record the initial values (those marked with an asterisk (*) on the CI display). Record these values in Table 4 at the end of these instructions. If the old controller is not communicating at all, or if the controller you are installing has a newer firmware revision than the old controller, then while at the field panel, follow these steps: a. Obtain a field panel Point Definition Report for the LCTLR point. Record the values in Table 4. b. View the initial value block. (This information is valid only since the last update was made). Record the values in Table 4. c. Delete the LCTLR point from the field panel. 3. Replace the old controller as follows: The following tasks can be performed by the electrician: a. Remove power from the controller. b. If the old controller has the RT plug between the trunk and point terminations, then disconnect the wires from the power trunk terminal block. If the old controller has the RT plug on the opposite end of the board from the power trunk terminal block, then remove the power trunk terminal block. c. Remove, in order, the controller s: trunk terminal block point wiring room temperature sensor d. Remove the old controller assembly from the mounting rail. e. Carefully remove the new controller assembly from the anti-static bag. Center it over the mounting rail and snap it securely into place. f. If the old controller has the RT plug between the trunk and point terminations, then remove all terminal blocks (except the power trunk) from the new controller. If the old controller has the RT plug on the opposite end of the board from the power trunk terminal block, then remove all terminal blocks. g. Plug, in order, the controller s: pre-wired trunk point wiring h. If the old controller has the RT plug between the trunk and point terminations, then rewire power to the power trunk terminal block. If the old controller has the RT plug on the opposite end of the board from the power trunk terminal block, then plug the power trunk terminal block from the old controller into the new controller. i. Connect the room temperature sensor. j. Power up the controller. 3 of 19

4 The following tasks can be performed by the system specialist: 4. et the address and application at the new controller. 5. Based on what you did in tep 2, do one of the following: If you updated the initial values from the old controller at the field panel, then when you set the address and application for the new controller, the field panel will automatically send the initial values down to the new controller. Once this takes place, the replacement is complete. If you manually recorded the initial values in the table, then enter them into the new controller. If a field panel is present, then update the controller s initial values. Replacement is complete. If there was no communication at the old controller, or the new controller has a newer firmware revision than the old controller, then enter the initial values into the new controller.
