Edge connectors in the rear of the installation kit terminate your building cabling, and pluggable inserts snap into the edge connectors to provide the connector interface for the equipment (phone, computer, printer, etc.). This combination of card edge connectors and adapter inserts provides a reconfigurable connector interface which doesn t require re-termination of the cable. The adapter inserts take care of providing the appropriate connector interface and pinout to match the equipment in use. When that equipment changes, the adapter insert can be replaced by simply removing the faceplate, snapping out the old insert and snapping in a new one, a process which takes about a minute. Dual connector inserts also help to maximize cable usage through sheath-sharing, combining two applications, such as 100BASE-T, on one 4-pair cable. 31 AMP Communications Outlet/Enhanced Category 5 Inserts for 100 Ohm Cable AMP NETCONNECT Category 5e inserts comply with all requirements of TIA/EIA-568-A-5. Dual inserts allow the combination of two applications on one 4-pair cable. Two 10BASE-T or two 16 Mbps token ring links may safely be combined on a single 4-pair Category 5 cable within certain design parameters. When combined with AMP NETCONNECT Enhanced Category 5 cable, dual Category 5e inserts have been verified to support dual transmissions up to 100BASE-T and/or 155 Mbps ATM. 45 Desktop Monuments The power monument provides user access to a duplex outlet at the desktop. It eliminates the need to feed power cables down behind or through desks. The monument is supplied with an 8- foot (2.4m), 3-prong power cord for attachment to the existing electrical outlets. The voice/data monument is designed to accept standard FLEX-MODE Faceplates. For Category 5e applications, the horizontal cabling should be connected directly to the 110Connect Jacks to meet the requirements of ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-A. For voice or Category 3 applications, a user-supplied, single-ended modular plug patch cord could be used to connect the monument to an existing telecommunication outlet.
