2 Established 25 years ago, Telesafe is a Norwegian manufacturer of structured cabling products which has served this particular market for more than 15 years, supplying customers with the best know-how and products available at any given time. The company philosophy has always been to follow international standards and regulations as they are set by ISO/IEC and CENELEC. In order to remain updated and wage influence on the development of the standards, Telesafe is represented in several standardisation committees. Any product and system delivered or supported by Telesafe is guaranteed to meet all standard electrical and mechanical specifications. For many years Telesafe has been in the forefront of the development of high speed and wide band cabling solutions such as the CMG, connecting hardware for bandwidths exceeding 1,4 GHz, and a WTP cabling system for multimedia and SOHO applications. We regard this as the future standard for copper cabling, and therefore see it as an opportunity to prolong copper technology for many years to come. Telesafe is represented in most European countries. The main stronghold is Scandinavia with an established sales and support company in Sweden. Mid-Europe is served by local representation in Germany and the Be- Ne-Lux region. To strengthen the position in southern Europe, Telesafe is investing in the development of new products which fit the most commonly used trunk and outlet systems found in these countries. Telesafe is highly aware of the problems of world pollution, and consequently all products manufactured by the company are made of non-toxic and 100% recyclable material. Telesafe guarantee program Telesafe products and cabling system are subject to a beneficial customer guarantee program. The guarantees may be divided into 2 groups : 1. A 15-year product guarantee covering malfunctioning of all products as stand-alone units. 2. A 3-level program for either mix and match cabling solutions or a comprehensive cabling system. Channel and link, class D and E based on tests carried out in the Telesafe laboratory in cooperation with a cable manufacturer. Cable and Telesafe prod ucts are specified by our distributors. Product changes and variations for different countries As Telesafe is constantly working on product improvement, items which are listed in this catalogue may have been changed since the time of printing. The products available in different countries may also vary somewhat from the versions presented here (i.e. different frames or colours). New product codes Telesafe has recently introduced a new set of product codes in correspondence with a technical change in all PCB-based products with LSA punch down blocks. You will therefore find that in our catalogue, the first digit in the article no. for this type of product has been changed from 4 to 5. The electrical performance has not changed. The old and the new versions may therefore be mixed. The products which have changed codes are marked with the red sticker to the right. 2

4 19" DATA PATCH PANELS All the Data Patch Panels from Telesafe meet the electrical specifications of the latest ISO/IEC and Cenelec standards. Each of the panels may be installed in a mix-and-match Class D(100 MHz, "Cat.5e") cabling solution, or as one component in a Class E-250 MHz channel cabling system. Telesafe has three different types of Patch Panels, designed to meet your needs, a modular-, an angled- and a dust-covered panel. An enhanced version of the modular 5124-series panel has recently been launched as a separate product. 10 10" MINIRACK & PATCH PANELS The introduction of the MiniRack completes Telesafe's series of product offers, also covering small office needs. Being just 7U high, and 10" wide, the Mini Rack is ideal for a wide range of applications, even at home. The programme offers 12-port panels based on the same modules as those utilized in our 19" modular panel products for shielded and unshielded data, telephone and fibre. The top- and bottom cover plates are interchangeable allowing a flexible cable entrance. The cabinet can be turned upside down to change the opening direction of the door. The MiniRack is made of aluminium and comes with a lockable door in Plexiglas as standard. An enhanced version of the Mini Patch data panels has recently been launched as a separate product. Together with the improved version of the 5618/19-x6x series of outlets and a tested cable the panel constitutes a "Cat. 6, Class E" Permanent Link with good margin. 21 WTP - Wideband Twisted Pair A structured cabling system for CATV, telefon and data The WTP cabling system is intended for private homes and small offices (SOHO) as well as for large-scale environments such as hotels, student homes and other public institutions, which require the distribution of multiple services. The WTP cabling solution offers a way of transmitting telephone-, data- and CATV-signals through one cable only. The WTP Cabling systems: Telesafe offers two different WTP cabling systems, both utilising the same basic components. The only difference between the two systems is the scale of components and the amplifier used. WTP -HouseNet which is a small scale cabling for homes and small offices (SOHO) WTP -LargeNet for hotels and other institutions The Components: The Multimedia outlet is a single component used in both cabling systems. The outlet may be placed anywhere in the house and enables the user to connect telephone, PC and TV to his own network. Jacks are a 6- or 8 pin UTP/STP RJ11- or RJ45 for the telephone, a shielded RJ45 for the PC and a standard antenna outlet for the TV and radio. The multimedia outlet is supplied in a double box either for in-the-wall, or on-the-wall mounting, or as two separate single units, one for PC/telephone and one for TV/radio, connected with a coax cable. The HouseNet distribution rack is used to connect and distribute signals coming into the house, through the local cabling system to the outlet where the equipment is installed. The HouseNet distribution rack is 10" wide, 7U high and 25cm deep (see page 10 MiniRack and Mini Patch Panels) and can be installed either on the wall or in the wall, depending on the cable access The standard configuration of a HouseNet distribution rack contains: A 10" distribution panel where the horizontal cable is terminated on a module equipped with a patented CMG termination unit on a PCB with built-in balun, and standard RJ45s- and F-connectors as the user interface. A telephone panel module where the incoming signal cable is terminated and split into 6 separate RJ45 jacks, either on an ISDN S-bus or parallell analogue. A CATV source panel where the signal cable is terminated, amplified and split into 4 or alternatively 9 separate F-connectors. A shelf for a mini Ethernet hub or a local mini PBX. HouseNet Rack 21

22 The LargeNet distribution rack is used to connect and distribute signals coming into the building, through the local cabling system to the outlet where the equipment is installed. The LargeNet rack has a standard 19" width The standard configuration of a LargeNet distribution rack contains: A 19" distribution panel with 8 multimedia modules where the horizontal cable is terminated on a module equipped with a patented CMG termination unit on a PCB with built-in balun, and standard RJ45 s- and F-connector as user interface. A 19" telephone panel where the incoming signal cable from the PBX is terminat ed on a PCB and connected to RJ45 jacks, either an ISDN Patch Panel or an ana logue panel (see page 6). A 19" CATV- hub where the signal cable is terminated, amplified and split into 9 or 18 separate F-connectors. Cabling The cabling is a single star wiring structure that normally starts at the termination point of the outside signal sources where the distribution rack is placed. From this point one cable is connected to each Multimedia outlet.
