1 System Control Unit (SCU) for Burkert Process Instruments Central control unit driving several control loops Gateway functionality with the following fieldbuses: ProfiNet, Ethernet-IP, Modbus-TCP Communication with proprietary büs or CANopen network Type ME2x can be combined with Expandable with I/O modules Mass Flow Controllers The System Control Unit (SCU) serves as a central control unit for fluidic field devices like valves, sensors or control loops. The platform by which a user-specific control of quite a number of field devices can be programmed is called User-f(x). The SCU can act as a host of a User-f(x) program. User-specific programs can be gas blending, ratio controls or process dependent actions. This program is saved on the micro SD card. The Type ME2x SCU is a device that further can act as a gateway between industrial fieldbuses like Profinet to a büs or CANopen network. The SCU consists of the following modules: Backplane module, input and output modules of the proprietary bus (type ME29) and the fieldbus gateway module (type ME23) itself. Further I/O modules for analog and digital signals (type ME24) can be part of the SCU. The advantages of such a gateway are: Cost savings with Ethernet communication, Ethernet doesn t have to be integrated in each field device Available for a variety of industrial field buses In machines with a high number of devices this module serve as only one fieldbus participant controlling a number of devices. 2 EDIP Efficient Device Integration Platform The term EDIP stands overall for all devices, tools or functionalities which eases the integration and connectivity of Bürkert process instruments like sensors or mass flow controllers. By that all Bürkert devices can be integrated in proprietary büs systems and organized by the standardized software Bürkert Communicator. Users further benefit from standardized interfaces, fast engineering of system setups (software and hardware), easier change of system components, interactions of single system components by each other. The proprietary büs (bürkert system bus) is a standardized digital interface of Bürkert devices or instruments and mainly complies with CANopen. The büs interface is always downward compatible to CANopen. 4 Software Bürkert Communicator Part of Bürkert s new EDIP program (Efficient Device Integration Platform) is the Bürkert Communicator. This software can be run under MS-Windows and allows users to program further parameters in MFCs or watch process controls. It is freely available on Bürkert s website. An accessory part, the büs stick please see ordering chart for accessories, serves as the interface between computer and process instrument I want to connect to. It transfers USB data to CAN data. The Communicator allows: - Diagnosis - Parameterization - Registration and storage of process data - Data logging - To watch graph of process - To update firmware of the büs device connected - To program system controls by User-f(x) e.g. gas blending - Networking Industrial Ethernet Industrial Switch 24VDC, GND, CAN-L, CAN-H
