5 Carmet is available in three sizes, the largest also as a dual-arm machine. The consistent machine design meets all requirements and chailenges in model and moid making, in foundries, in wood working... The basic version of each machine is designed to adapt to future applications without having to invest in a new machine. Just retrofit your machine subsequently: the manual machine converts to motorized operation, the motorized model to CNC mode. For CNC operation, the CNC machines are optionally available with a disengageable drive. 5

In design and manufacture, Carmet is Zeiss through and through: laser-hardened surfaces with defined hardness curves in the guideways of the columns and horizontal arms guarantee high mechanical precision. All carriages run smoothly and stable over long periods of time. The bending and torsion of the column can be corrected, giving Carmet a lower measuring uncertainty. All components are surface treated and resistant to dust, dirt and corrosion. You can rely on Carmet giving you not only a long service life, but also reduced operating and maintenance costs. Optimized measuring plate design makes Carmet cost efficient. A new design provides the Carmet measuring plate with unparalleled inherent rigidity, combined with a lighter weight. This results in reduced alignment and service work, saving cost and time when installing Carmet and reducing maintenance costs. Set up Carmet directly on the shopfloor. With the active anti-vibration system available for the small and medium-size versions, Carmet offers rocksolid performance even without a foundation. 6

7 Ergonomic use through adjustable working height. Optimal access to the measuring plate ensures that the measuring volume can be used to perfection. The graphics panel can be adjusted in any direction (Servolift). On request, Carmet can be supplied with a customized working height. This means that Carmet offers extra convenience for modeling work. Shop-hardened through new guideway system. Carmet features a completely revised guideway system. The new X-guideway with hardened profile guiderails and roller bearings guarantees high precision, makes the machine resistant to floor vibration and reduces the number of supports required. The new shop-hardened path measuring system made of specially tempered steel is resistant to cieaning agents, dust and dirt. Consequently, Carmet can be installed directly on the shopfloor, even in rough conditions. 7

The integrated network permits integration of Carmet into existing networks. Carmet also features an integrated software interface for connecting surface measuring software on external PCs. Use the graphics panel wherever you measure The Manulog (for manual operation) and Dynalog (for motorized and CNC operation) graphics panels can be moved to any location. Using the vertically and laterally adjustable Servolift, the operator selects whatever position he wants. This flexible design allows the control panel and computer to be placed exactly where measurements are being made. Compact design for enhanced reliability. Manulog is the control panel for manual machines, Dynalog for motorized and CNC units. Both feature identical user interfaces. Therefore, no readjustment when working with different versions. The modern, ergonomic design and excellent graphics provide reliable and speedy operation. 9

Its ergonomic design and a host of accessories make Carmet a flexible, multifunctional machine. Carmet. Simply multi-functional. The standard equipment includes the unparalleled adapter cube for mounting the wide range of styli and accessories. Tools and styli are interchanged quickly, simply and reproducibly. All machines come with the Renishaw TP6 3D probe head as a standard feature. The standard manual and motorized Carmet versions are equipped with the MIH-S articulating holder. Through the sensor interface to MIH-S, the software specifies the angular position to be set. Carmet CNC includes the Carl Zeiss RDS rotating dynamic sensor, which is oriented in two axes in increments of 2.5. Probing of deep boreholes can be achieved without shaft contact. Using RDS, most measurements can be performed with simple stylus configurations. 10

11 Manual and motorized Carmets come standard with MIH-S. Carmet CNC is equipped with the Carl Zeiss RDS rotating dynamic sensor. Increments of 2.5 expand application. A full line of accessories is available, for example for scribing casts and forgings. 11
