The Legrand Group s business is the design, development and marketing of both simple and innovative electrical and digital systems for easier communication, reinforced safety and security, and enhanced comfort in buildings. Today, 38% of its sales comes from new economies, boosting its growth potential. Meanwhile, technological progress and the appearance of new requirements support the rapid emergence of new business segments, epecially in digital infrastructures, energy efficiency, wire-based cable management solutions and home systems. > Serving commercial, industrial and residential buildings alike Legrand offers a complete range of specific solutions and services for each type of building: homes, shops, hotels, healthcare establishments, schools, offices, industrial facilities, etc. With around catalogue items, the Group provides all products required for electrical and digital building installations, particularly as integrated systems. These solutions include control and command functions, cable management, and both power and voice-data-image distribution. Close to two thirds of its sales are made with products ranking No. 1 or No. 2 on their market, and it enjoys prominent positions especially in France, Italy, the US, as well as in new economies such as Brazil, Russia, China and India. This background is clearly an asset for the company which, since it was founded, has continually demonstrated its ability to adapt to changing market trends. From the original porcelain workshop, the business has thus gradually advanced to being global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures. 7 New in 2012 In 2012, Legrand actively pursued implementation of the innovation policy which drives its organic growth. Over the year, various new product offerings were thus launched, including: the high-end wiring device range Adorne in North America, wiring device ranges including Mingzhi in China, New Modus in Latin America, Forix in Eastern Europe, Zeffia in Brazil, and on an international scale: - New Sfera audio and video door entry systems - CCTV electronic security systems - LBPlus prefabricated busbar trunking - Home Network systems 37% of sales in 2012 made with new products over 50% of capital expenditure dedicated to new products in

8 A growth dynamic Legrand s ambition is to boost its leadership in electrical and digital building infrastructures, in order to become the benchmark player in smart electricity. This dual ambition requires a fast rhythm of new product launches and targeted acquisitions, both on especially promising market segments and in new economies. New economies, a major growth lever As they drive the global market, new economies are quite naturally a development priority for Legrand, which currently makes 38% of its sales in countries such as Russia, Brazil, India, China, Mexico or Turkey fastgrowing markets with strong demand for innovative infrastructures. New business segments Social and technological developments provide Legrand with a variety of growth opportunities. Digital convergence in particular is opening the way for buildings to be equipped with smart infrastructures. Today, 25% of Legrand s business is done in digital infrastructures, energy efficiency, wire-based cable management solutions and home systems. These are all new and fastgrowing markets, and Legrand is determined to pursue its longer-term development in these high-potential areas, with a focus on three especially promising markets: - assisted living, where Legrand is developing innovative solutions designed to meet the challenge of staying independent, and - electric vehicle charging stations, which fit perfectly with the Group s Sustainable Development approach. - smart grids, where Legrand provides user-friendly solutions for monitoring and optimizing installation consumption. This approach forms an integral part of the Legrand Group s strategy, expressing its commitments in terms of social and environmental responsibility and of governance. In each of these three areas, Legrand has identified priorities for its development, among which the promotion of energy efficiency and of wider access to electricity. > Carefully targeted acquisitions to stimulate growth Legrand continues to implement a strategy built around carefully targeted, self-financed acquisitions of small to medium sized companies holding strong market positions and offering growth potential. Since January 2012, five such external growth operations have been finalised: - numeric UPS, the Indian No. 1 in small & medium power UPS - Aegide, the leader in VDI enclosures for data centers in the Netherland. - Daneva, the Brazilian leader in connection accessories - NuVo Technologies, the US specialist in residential multi-room audio systems - Seico, the Saudi Arabian leader in industrial metal cable trays. 8
