Hosts: Scott Buchholz, Brian Schaben, and Paul Farrell, Black Hills Energy 8:30 AM SESSION I: BACK TO THE HOUSE XCEL ENERGY S TRANSFORMATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND NETWORK SERVICES Presenter: Tim Peterson, Director IT Operations & Infrastructure, Xcel Energy, Minneapolis, MN Description: With the increased regulation, cyber security, and cost pressures facing most utilities, Xcel Energy is in the process of transforming it s I/T organization, including the people, processes, and technology it uses to deliver its IT services. This session will focus on the how Xcel Energy is meeting these challenges and increasing its quality of delivery. Our presenter will outline the hiccups, lessons-learned, drivers and the benefits of this initiative to move managed services in-house. 9:45 AM SESSION II: ADVANCING UTILITIES INTO THE HORIZON Presenter: Chad Ehret, Senior Software Development Analyst, Black Hills Energy, Rapid City, SD Description: In 2015, Black Hills presented to NCEA their vision of the Utility of the Future, which included a key shift towards Enterprise Mobility. Since that time, Black Hills Energy has rolled out mobile technology across their company. Join us as we discuss how they have deployed solutions, ensuring customer and organizational data security, and see how the benefits Black Hills Energy is realizing with this shift in strategy to mobility. Our presenter will also review change management lessons learned and how Black Hills Energy is continuing to transform its application landscape using a mobile-first philosophy. 11:00 AM SESSION III: UTILITY CYBER SECURITY THE HACKING AGE Presenter: Dave Kennedy, Owner & Security Analyst, TrustedSec & Binary Defense Systems, Cleveland, OH Description: This presentation will provide an understanding of cyber attackers, including unique demographics, motives and attack vectors. We will discuss security controls that can minimize/eliminate your risk to exposure. Dave is a nationally recognized security consultant and speaker who has presented at several hundred security conferences worldwide. Dave has been interviewed in national media and testified before congress on cybersecurity issues. 12:00 PM LUNCH: We will have a catered-in hot lunch at Black Hills Energy. 1:00 PM SESSION IV: HYPER CONVERGENCE THE STEPPING STONE TO AN ENTERPRISE CLOUD Presenter: Drew Henning, Senior Systems Engineer, Nutanix, Omaha, NE Description: Nutanix brings the goodness of public cloud providers such as AWS and Azure to your datacenter enabling utilities to focus on the applications and services that power your business. What traits do they have that make them successful? Improving interpersonal communication skills starts with introspection and discovering which of these traits we possess and how others perceive our delivery of these traits.
