The Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce is the Economic Development arm of the Jackson County government. With five I-85 interchanges and easy access to the Ports of Savannah and Charleston, Jackson County is home to many companies including: Carter s/osh Kosh, Bed, Bath& Beyond, Toyota, Kubota, Whole Foods, and many more.
2 3 rd Q u a r t e r P a g e 2 Takeuchi to Expand and Build New Distribution Facility in Jackson County, GA A Wave of New Spec Construction August 10, 2015: Takeuchi US announced plans today to build a new distribution facility on their existing campus in Pendergrass, Georgia. The existing building serves as the US operations of the Nagano, Japan-based company. Plans call for the distribution facility to add 40 percent more storage to the current operation, and to allow for additional employment opportunities within the company. We are really excited to be expanding our operations in Pendergrass, Georgia. With the improved economy there has been an increase for machine demand, said Clay Eubanks, President of Takeuchi US. With this new facility we will be able to store parts and new products well into This new building will not only allow us to continue to grow as a company, but will offer employment opportunities for our community. Jackson County has experienced a surge in new spec construction in Three buildings totaling 2.5 million have been or will be completed by the fourth quarter of this year. Multiple pad sites are also on the market in Jackson County, with a combined total of 3.8 million sq.ft. ready for vertical development. With a variety of products in the compact equipment industry, Takeuchi located its US Headquarters with training and parts distribution operations in the Valentine Farms Industrial Park in The facility currently has over 70 associates. Takeuchi s announcement to expand in Jackson County is great news for our community. Whenever an Established Industry chooses to expand with us it is a great endorsement of our business climate and workforce, stated Jackson County Commission Chairman Tom Crow. About Takeuchi: Takeuchi manufacturing began in 1963 and has been a pioneer in the compact equipment industry. Takeuchi developed the world s first compact excavator in 1971 and continued to lead the compact construction industry when they introduced the first compact track loader in the mid-80s. These two products have transformed the North American construction equipment markets and have positioned Takeuchi as a leading provider of compact equipment. Several new as well as established developers have invested in Jackson County s industrial market within the last few months. Plans have been announced for the vertical development of an additional 1.5 million sq.ft. to be completed by the second quarter of 2016.
3 3 rd Q u a r t e r P a g e 3 New Labor Draw Stats Available for Jackson County A new labor draw report for Jackson County has just been completed. The goal of the study was to get an idea of where the county s manufacturing labor force comes from and the geographical extent to which these employees drive each day. Multiple established industries from the county participated in this study, with the data showing slight changes since the last labor report that was conducted. Results from the report show that Jackson County pulls thousands of workers from 18 different counties in Georgia, spanning over a distance of 133 miles.
4 3 rd Q u a r t e r P a g e 4 Jackson County: Ideal Location for Auto Suppliers Jackson County is a highly attractive option for automotive suppliers, with all southeastern OEMs located within 550 miles of our county and with the BMW plant in Greer, SC only a one-hour drive away. Several Tier 2 auto suppliers such as Toyota-Denso Auto Compressors of Georgia (TACG) and Shiloh Industries have already established their business in Jackson County, along with heavy equipment manufacturer Kubota Industrial Equipment Corporation.
