2 The application of technology to build a responsive transportation system that will efficiently move goods and people within the Fresno-Clovis Region National ITS Plan was published Congress allocated $1.2 billion for ITS related programs The San Joaquin Valley Intelligent Transportation System Strategic Deployment Plan was published, identifying the Fresno-Clovis Regional ITS Project and Signal Coordination as priority projects for Fresno County.

4 ITS Program History! Phase1 1999/2001 Phase /2003 Phase /2007 Blackstone Corridor Constructed. (124 count fiber trunk line with 6 strands at each intersection) Traffic Operations Center Operational Conduit & and Infrastructure Built for Herndon, Chestnut, Ventura-Kings Canyon. Fiber Optic Loop Installed, Technology Deployed & System Operational. (168 count fiber trunk line with 6 strands at each intersection)

Shaw Ave (41-99) ITS Project will be constructed in 2012 from Blackstone to SR99 ($4.2 mil) Shaw Ave (41-168) ITS Project will be constructed in 2012 from Hwy 41 to Hwy 168 ($3.1 mil) Willow Ave Palm-Nees-Friant ITS Fiber Project is being designed from Ashlan to Shepherd ($1.4 mil) ITS Fiber Project is being designed from Herndon-Palm-Nees-Friant ($1 mil) Arterials & FWYs Crossing ITS Fiber & ATMS Project will be City Wide - 14 Locations designed for Caltrans ramp signals ($3 mil)

11 The City s ITS Program Future! ITS Operations & Maintenance Program is staffed. ITS Capital Program future is very positive $23.2 million from development impact fees as the City s General Plan is built out. $19.6 million from Air Quality and Traffic Light Synchronization Grants ( ). What is next?

12 The City s ITS Program Future! ITS Program s Mission! The Fiber Network Backbone will soon be completed, synchronizing ~190 Traffic Signals. The Wireless Interconnect will build 11 corridors, synchronizing ~200 additional Traffic Signals. ITS Program is now seeking Air Quality Grants for the City s remaining Traffic Signals.
