3 Current Expressway Coverage 130 miles- Full system 60 miles- VIVDS, DMS 180 CCTV Cameras 220 DMS 246 LCS Systems 220 Traffic Sensor Locations 150 Loop Detector Systems 20 VIVDS 50 Radar Units Many construction projects that impacted our equipment are wrapping up. Temporary ITS system used for most roadway construction projects

4 Maintenance & Technology Upgrade Contract System wide specification, 360 bid items All field equipment (TSS, DMS, LCS, CCTV, Communication Network) UPS systems (field and TOC) Utility locates (maintenance contractor will perform all of our cable locate requests) Preventative Maintenance for field equipment Includes Travel Pay item for all counties outside of Bexar County in San Antonio District Contract allows additional items to be added 2 year contract with 2-2 year extension options (can go up to 6 years) Can upgrade obsolete technology under this contract Contract will be used for all TxDOT districts in South Texas Region

5 Contract Awards Two contracts awarded: Siemens Mobility Traffic Solutions Florida Traffic Control Devices, Inc. Two Phase Approach: Phase 1- Immediate needs Phase 2- Preventive maintenance Division of work: Phase 1- Overall equivalent level of effort Phase 2- Geographic and corridor assignments

6 Technology Upgrade Needs Traffic Sensor Systems- All new TSS are Radar, Existing loop detector systems are converted to Radar under roadway construction and Maintenance Contracts Conversion to IP Communications Network- Network Conversion Plan being developed under new Statewide contracts Convert shuttered fiber optic DMS to LED; later convert fiber optic LCS to LED UPS System Control Frame

7 ATMS Software Upgrade The existing TransGuide ATMS software has been in place since 1995, uses a UNIX operating system, and operates on Sun Microsystems platforms. TransGuide implemented TxDOT s statewide standard software, called LoneStar. LoneStar uses a Windows operating system, and operates on Wintel platforms. Roll out was November 10, 2009 Will allow operation of remote centers also using LoneStar software The LoneStar upgrade required that all servers and workstations be upgraded

9 TransGuide Web Page Upgrade Last major web page design was done in Microsoft Virtual Earth (now being called Bing Maps) used as base map Expanding to include rural corridors Will maintain all current functions; travel times, incident information, lane closure information, etc. Expanding CCTV snapshot capability Using standard statewide application adapted from FDOT site Plan to add flood/high water monitor system pages, to include partner agencies Adding mobile browser capability Adding rural area and intercity corridor display Roll out date November 2009, in conjunction with conversion to Lonestar software

12 Statewide and Regional Operations February 2006 TransGuide assumed responsibility during Amber Alerts for TxDOT notification process, developed Amber Alert notification system Amber Alert Notification System became Emergency Alert Notification System; This now includes notification for hurricane evacuation messages, Amber Alerts, Silver Alerts and other statewide emergency message notifications Conversion to LoneStar software will allow TransGuide to begin assisting other TxDOT districts for after hour and emergency DMS notification

13 VIA- Bus Rapid Transit Project VIA Metropolitan Transit and the Metropolitan Planning Organization have identified the Fredericksburg Road corridor as the prime candidate for a type of public transportation called bus rapid transit. The BRT final design is scheduled for Summer 2010 with construction in Service is scheduled to commence in 2012

15 BRT on Fredericksburg Road Corridor Service from downtown into the Medical Center Serves two biggest employment centers Downtown option and Medical Center circulation needs to be determined during design phase Combination of dedicated bus lane and mixed traffic operations Initial corridor is part of a future city- wide high capacity transit system

22 Traffic Signal System Modernization Program $33 million program included in FY 2008 Budget Five year schedule Oct. 1, 2008 to Sept. 30, 2012 Approximately 250 signals fully deployed each year
