Scenarios 13
Scenario One: Next-Generation Mobilization An alert launches a solution for mass or targeted notifications (e.g., desktop, SMS, BlackBerry). This triggers LMR for interoperability, and then triggers Unified Communications for telephony and collaboration. The recipients acknowledgements are tracked, and personnel accountability is achieved. The event is then handed off to the incident response system. Benefits of the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security Increases effectiveness of communication to different devices as defined by policy Tracks accountability using current user information Eliminates slow, manual mobilization, as well as operator error Provides complete personnel accountability Offers return on investment (ROI) Leverages network infrastructure, which ties into legacy systems, and removes silos 14
Scenario Two: Implement Force Protection Condition Implement New Security Posture: Surveillance System/Sensors Detect Perimeter Intrusion Surveillance captures video of an intrusion. The video is redirected to the intrusion point of reference. The manager analyzes the virtual perimeter. Analytics determine the intruder(s) or vehicles for confirmation. The system posts a warning, which alerts all personnel of a lockdown. Video is posted to multiple locations. First responders are notified; a solution is triggered to begin a virtual talk group for collaboration. In parallel, sensor information and public sources are displayed on a common operating picture. Benefits of the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security Provides automatic intruder/border detection Enables real-time execution of security-posture levels Fosters instant collaboration by security forces Reduces false positives significantly Provides automatic notification and receipt validation Delivers ROI Reduces staffing and silos 15
Scenario Three: External Event Trigger Protect Property, Equipment, and Resources (Assets) During Events NOAA issues a severe tornado warning via CAP feed. The CAP message is captured, which triggers a preconfigured warning scenario. This sends alerts to the operations/maintenance group. Instant collaboration is triggered to coordinate maintenance. A message is displayed on the platform s dashboard. The commander decides whether to send mass alerts for preparation. Benefits of the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security Enables autodetection of hazardous incidents (e.g., weather) Delivers autonotification to target groups for instant collaboration Accelerates response time for protecting physical assets 16
Scenario Four: State Agency Biohazard Threat Regionwide Warning for Water Supply Contamination Sensors detect a chemical/biological threat at a reservoir. Sensor Policy Manager (SPM) instantly analyzes data and posts to a server. SPM cues other sensors at lakes and rivers for sampling. Heightenedawareness sensor policies are initiated. The solution alerts water operations officials and then restricts additional supplies from the contaminated source(s). Regionwide notifications are sent to officials, hospitals, and first responders for medical/evacuation consequences. Warnings automatically post to the CDC, which initiates a WebEx session for planning and collaboration with officials. Benefits of the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security Provides automatic detection of major threats (e.g., virus, chemical, biological, etc.) Enables regionwide notification and virtual collaboration with experts Offers rapid response, which helps contain contamination and minimize health consequences 17
Ecosystems Partners 18
Partner Capabilities Network-centric systems for the management and mass distribution of emergency notifications across facilities and global enterprises Technologies that provide an intelligent convergence platform for network, system, device, and sensor data Advanced unified communications, routing and switching specialization, security, and advanced wireless specialization Technology that turns video into data to detect, classify, and track objects of interest according to user-defined rules Portable, mobile communications hub that stays seamlessly connected with a central network regardless of where it is Integrated safety and security information; integrated geospatial foundation supports common and userdefined operational pictures SPM Net-Centric distributed sensor management: virtualizes sensor networks and triggers policies Presentation_ID 2008 Cisco Systems, Inc.
