23 Building Safety Bangladesh. Industry Has Reacted and so have consumers Accord on Fire and Building Safety Mostly European Brands Nearly 1,600 factories in Bangladesh Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety Mostly North American Brands Nearly 620 factories.

24 ACCORD / ALLIANCE UPDATE The Alliance on Bangladesh Worker Safety will hold an information session next week in San Francisco around the BSR Conference. The session will be this coming Tuesday, November 5th, from 4-6pm. The Accord and the Alliance have both made a lot of progress in the last few weeks publishing factory lists, establishing standards, creating training, and conducting inspections.

25 ACCORD / ALLIANCE UPDATE Both groups will be meeting in Dhaka next week under the auspices of the ILO to in an attempt to harmonize standards between the two groups. Both groups have published factory lists of Accord and Alliance members. There are 1,557 factories covered by the Accord and 620 factories covered by the Alliance. 317 of the covered factories are shared factories supplying both Accord and Alliance members. As such, the two groups cover approximately 1,900 factories, or about 2/5 of all garment factories in Bangladesh.

26 The Accord now has 103 member companies. The Alliance now has 23 member companies. Both the Accord and the Alliance continue to recruit members. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh The Accord has launched a website where is has posted its factory list and all other relevant information related to the accord

27 The Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety -On October 15th, as per its Action Plan, published the list of 620 factories used by Alliance members Then, on October 22nd, the Alliance published is first monthly progress report -- content/uploads/2013/alliance%20annc%20- %20October%20Milestones.pdf. The Alliance s progress will be published monthly.

28 Finally, the Alliance continues its outreach to the US Congress, holding meetings with key members of Congress and responding to Congressional inquiries. This week (October 30th), the Alliance Chairwoman and former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher sent a letter to Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The letter was in response to a September 25th letter from Menendez to the Alliance --
