A The definition of Coordinate refsystem is a bit tricky There are two main reasons we see the need to document the Coordinate refsystem 1 The coordinate-system that data can be available in (which should instead be documented in the services capabilities, which they are) 2 The coordinate system that data is managed in. This gives a quality indicator and also information to what coordinate systems data can be transformed to without to much loss of quality. We had a disussion on this in MIWP8. And we think it must be the second alternative that is valid here. This is also since this element only exists for datasets and not for the services. B Do the list of Coordinate systemes defined in the data-specifications reflect this use? It looks like there are are few national systems defined. Anyhow the list of coordinate systems defined in the dataspecifications does not match any of the Swedish systems used. See table below. The corrensponding Swedish systems is nearly identical to the systems defined by INSPIRE. The differences is only of interest in Scientific use. But they do have different EPSG codes so when validation data using our swedish systems we get errors. No datasets in Sweden will be managed in any of the current Inspire-systems. So the question is. Can we update the list of valid systems (and in what region they are valid) or can we handle som kind matching tables telling what systems are nearly identical for normal usage? 3 EVRS RH 2000 EPSG/5613 H ETRS89-GRS80-EVRS SWEREF 99 + RH 2000 EPSG/5628?, λ, H C This requirement has to be met starting from 23 November 2012 for data sets that were newly created or extensively restructured after 15 May 2007 and starting from 23 November 2017 for all other data sets. An error is reported for all datasets missing a valid coordinate system. But only datasets that were created or extensively restructured after 15 May is mandated to have this coordinate system information since this is part of metadata for Interoperability. The error reports on datasets falling outside this scope should not be reported as we see it. This will be hard to solve since we don't have a metadata element for this. I would add another point about worldwide datasets described in Issue #2631 This seems to be too strict: INSPIRE Metadata Regulation [2] section specifies that other CRSs could be used (e.g. for regions outside of continental Europe). However, as you wrote: The required metadata element "Coordinate Reference System" is present, but does not contain any of the coordinate reference system identifiers (EPSG URIs) required by the Technical Guidelines. This requirement has to be met starting from 23 November 2012 for data sets that were created or extensively restructured after 15 May 2007 and starting from 23 November 2017 for all other data sets.. Therefore, for existing Belgian datasets, the validator should not report the corresponding metadata for existing datasets as non-compliant until 23 November Even after that date, according to me, the dataset itself that is still only available using a non-compliant CRS could be reported as non-compliant, but not the metadata that describes that dataset in its current status. 5 Dear Michael, Francois, I believe that the list will be extended to comprise all CRSs. The only constraint that will remain is that the code must be an EPSG HTTP URI. A change so all valid EPSG HTTP URIs vill validate, is this something that can solved in near future you think? Right now I think 0% of dataset metadata from Sweden will validate fully. regards michael #9-10 Oct :14 am - Angelo Quaglia - Proactive set to No Dear Michael, actually, many dataset metadata from Sweden currenlt validate at 100% since the message about the CRS is only a warning for the time being. (By the way 109 metadata documents fail the XML validation and for this I have just opened Issue #2860) The latest update on the CRS issue is available here: There is a list of supported CRS URIs. THere is also this sentence: Additional values will be added to the list for regions outside of continental Europe, if nominated by a Member State and available in a CRS register with a persistent http URI. 10 Dec /6
