The DAQFactory suite includes two different products and several versions of each product to best suit your needs: DAQFactory Lab (formally DAQLab): DAQFactory Lab is a complete data acquisition, process control, data visualization, and analysis application. DAQFactory X: DAQFactory X takes the entire DAQFactory Lab application and embeds it into an ActiveX control. This control can be dropped into your favorite ActiveX container, such as Excel, Access, or Visual Basic, to utilize the full power of DAQFactory while sharing data in real-time between DAQFactory and your application.

3 DAQFactory Lab With DAQFactory you can: u Quickly set up channel information to take the data you want when you want it. Deal with channel details only once! u Take data at fixed time intervals, even if the computer is busy with other tasks. Data taking has priority over all other software. u Store all, some, or none of your channels; store averaged data when disk space is at a premium; or use conditional logging to create multiple data sets based on the state of your system. 5 DAQFactory X DAQFactory X: DAQFactory Lab in ActiveX form! DAQFactory X can load any DAQFactory Lab document and can be dropped into your favorite ActiveX container application such as Excel, Access, Visual Basic, and many others. From there you can completely control your experiment and share data in real-time with your container application. u Display multiple screens in different locations at the same time. u Share channel data or the results of calculations in real-time. u Trigger events in your application from sequences in DAQFactory. u Set outputs and start / stop sequences from your application. DAQFactory X in Excel or other similar applications: Inside of an application such as Excel, you can use DAQFactory X to perform all the data acquisition, display, and automation, then transfer your data in real-time to the application for analysis and any further processing. 6 10 simple steps Here is an example of how you can take and log data, display it on a custom screen with a process diagram and trend graph, create a simple calibration loop, share it on the Internet and view it in a browser, connect to a remote DAQFactory and display readings from that site. All in 10 easy steps! Create your channels. Give them a name, identify the I/O, and specify how often you would like to read them (for input channels). Create screen components to display your data. Right click where you d like a component and select the desired component. Select Properties and adjust the properties of the new component. You can enter calculations directly into the component in many places, making things much easier and much more flexible. Add images to create a process diagram. Just drag and drop from the library of over 3800 images. You can move, resize, change the color, and animate the images as needed. Add a trend graph. Drop the graph where you d like it and enter formula to display for each trace. Adjust trace color and any other parameters you d like from the Properties box.

7 In the first five steps, you set up the complete data acquisition system, taking and logging data, displaying it on a screen with a process diagram, and creating a trend graph to view changes in our data over time. Now you ll add some more advanced features to share your data with others, view other people s data, and automate your process. To allow others to view the screens, simply enable the built-in web server. There are several options to optimize the server and provide security, but for now just use the defaults. View DAQFactory from a web browser. Open up a browser and point it to the computer running DAQFactory. Create a sequence to automate your process. Just create a line for each task and assign a time to it. In this sequence, we ve created a simple calibration loop. Sharing and controlling remote systems in DAQFactory are simply a matter of creating a new connection and pointing it to the remote copy of DAQFactory.
