COVER 1 DISCLAIMER The following Cover I disclaimer must be worded verbatim; in a type size of at least 9 point; stacked to fit in the bottom corner opposite the white box. Please note use of ALL CAPS and registered trademarks. Reverse lettering: dominate color should be used for shape of letters with subordinate colors spread slightly to reduce registration problems No RGB images or embedded Color Management Do not place any critical elements (text and/or images) outside the Live Safety Area. Any element that is outside the Live/Safety must extend to the full bleed specification. For spreads, splitting copy over the fold is not recommended. 3 2018 STICKER SPECIFICATIONS MNI Targeted Media Inc. will only affix sticker labels created according to these specifications and guidelines. The sponsor will be responsible for any costs which are incurred due to variances on the specifications herein stated. Publisher s approval is required before digital file is produced. CREATIVE GUIDELINES Stickers must contain the sponsor logo/name. Only one sticker creative can run throughout the course of a program. 4 2018 CREATING A PDF-X1A MNI Targeted Media Inc. only accepts PDF/X-1a files. The PDF/X-1a format is the Time Inc. standard and eliminates the most common errors in file preparation, producing high quality, print optimized files. This allows our workflow and processes to be more efficient and streamlined than traditional processes. Please be sure that any creative submitted is the final, client approved file, as we cannot make changes to the PDF/X-1a file. As MNI Targeted Media Inc. will only accept PDF/X-1a files for production, please review the following: CONSIDERATIONS FOR PDF/X-1A PREPARATION: Accepted font types: Type 1 fonts, True Type fonts and Composite fonts All images must be CMYK or gray scale between 200 and 400 DPI at 100% No RGB images, spot colors, or embedded color management Reverse lettering: dominant color should be used for shape of letters with subordinate colors spread slightly to reduce registration problems Use of Rich Black CMYK is recommended 7pt. minimum font size for knockout text ADOBE INDESIGN When selecting the PDF/X-1a option, do not change any of the other settings. Changing the other settings may produce a PDF which is unsuitable for production. FROM ADOBE INDESIGN To create a PDF/X-1a file from Adobe InDesign, you simply have to export to Adobe Acrobat as PDF/X-1a. You can do this by selecting: File > Adobe PDF Presets > [PDF/X-1a:2001] (shown right) FROM ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR OR ADOBE PHOTOSHOP To create a PDF/X-1a file from Illustrator or Photoshop, you will have to save the file to your desktop (or appropriate folder) and then select the correct compatibility. Select File > Save As. A dialog box will appear; choose the location where you want to save the file, create a filename and make sure you select Adobe PDF(*.pdf) as the Save as type. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR OR PHOTOSHOP Once you hit Save another dialog box will appear entitled Save Adobe PDF. Under Adobe PDF Preset: hit the drop down arrow at the top and choose PDF/X- 1a:2001 (shown right). A new dialog box will then appear where you can select the standard. Make sure the standard selected is PDF/X-1a: Then hit Save PDF.
5 2018 CREATING A PDF-X1A USING ADOBE ACROBAT DISTILLER With Acrobat Distiller open, select the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset (shown right). Then, in your native application, create a Postscript (.ps) file and hit save. You can then drag and drop the file into Acrobat Distiller. ADOBE DISTILLER Note: Many applications have the option to save as, print to, or export as postscript. Depending on the version of the application you are running, the Postscript option may be found in one or more places. FROM ADOBE ACROBAT With your PDF open, choose Advanced > Preflight > Options > Convert Current PDF to PDF/X Next, select the PDF/X-1a option and hit OK. You will receive a report indicating that your PDF was created successfully and that there were no issues encountered. ADOBE ACROBAT MNI Targeted Media Inc.
