3 STATEMENT The School District of Reedsburg logo is a visual representation of students experiences in the district and our tradition of quality education. Our goal is to open doors and unlock opportunities for all students. Multiple generations have raised children in Reedsburg and attended district schools. Reedsburg is a tight-knit, caring community of hard working people who really care about kids success.
4 MISSION Our mission is to prepare our students for the future, instill a sense of respect and a passion for learning.
5 LOGO MARK All materials for the School District of Reedsburg must be consistent with the school district s brand, which is visually represented by the logo. That means all materials must use the district: Logo Colors Fonts Templates The logo must be used as a complete entity. No portion of the logo should be used by itself.
6 LOGO In order of preference, the two-color School District of Reedsburg logo, a horizontal format, is our preferred option. Use it whenever possible. This is the primary format. Based on space requirements, there may be an occasional need to use a vertical format. This is acceptable. MAIN HORIZONTAL LOGO SECONDARY VERTICAL LOGO

10 LOGO FILES PC/MAC FORMATS The School District of Reedsburg has high-resolution electronic logo files available on the district website for staff. Files are available in black and white, and color in the following formats:.jpg (black and white, RGB).png (black and white, RGB).tif (black and white, CMYK).ai (black and white, CMYK, Spot).pdf (black and white, CMYK).eps (black and white, CMYK)
11 FILE TYPES AND USAGE VECTOR FILE TYPES RASTER (PIXEL-BASED) FILE TYPES COMMONLY-REQUESTED FILES TYPES SELDOM-REQUESTED FILE TYPES USED BY DESIGNERS EPS An EPS file is a vector file of a graphic, text or illustration. Because it is vector it can easily be resized to any size, no matter how large. Best use = Commercial printing companies, newspaper or magazine ads, vinyl sign or billboard vendors, promotional items vendors, etc. PDF A PDF file can be vector- or raster-based, depending on the original program used to create the file. All Reedsburg logo files were created in Adobe Illustrator, so the resulting PDF files are vector-based. Best use = Send to professional vendors, along with the.eps file. Nearly everyone can view a.pdf file, so providing it will give vendors a preview along with the native file. AI An AI file is a vector file type that can only be edited using Adobe Illustrator. It is most commonly used for creating logos, illustrations and print layouts. Best use = Creating logos, graphics, illustrations. Occasionally a vendor will ask for an AI file. It s perfectly okay to send the AI file, although the EPS and PDF files are also vector-based and would work equally well. JPG JPG (or JPEG) is a raster image that is often used for photographs on the web. A JPG can t have a transparent background so they are always rectangular or square with a solid background. Best use = Rectangle or square images and photos for the Web. Placing into Microsoft Word and Google Docs. PNG PNG is a raster image. The main difference between a PNG and JPG is that a PNG can have a transparent background and is generally larger and higher quality. A PNG is ideal for saving logo files for Web sites because they can be placed over a colored background. Best use = Logos, icons and other images where a transparent background is preferred (typically on the Web). TIF A TIF is a large raster file. It has no loss in quality and therefore is primarily used for images used in printing. On the Web, because of load time, you generally want to use smaller images such as JPG or PNG. Best use = Images and photos for high quality print. A graphics professional might ask for a TIF image but they can also use a high resolution JPG file and convert to TIF. PSD PSD is a raster image type. The PSD files for the Reedsburg logo are layered with a transparent background and are high resolution. A designer would work in Adobe Photoshop and then export the finished product in JPG, PNG or TIF format. Best use = Creating or modifying raster-based artwork which uses the district logo.
12 DOCUMENT TYPES AND USAGE GOOGLE DOCS OR WORD DOCUMENTS JPG files are ideal for placing into Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on the image to save it to your hard drive. Place the JPG file into your document following the application instructions. GOOGLE SLIDE SHOW OR POWERPOINT JPG files are ideal for placing into a google slide show or a powerpoint presentation. If you are placing an image onto a colored background, PNG files are useful. Right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on the image to save it to your hard drive. Place the JPG file into your Google Slide Show or PowerPoint document following the application instructions. PROFESSIONALLY PRINTED BROCHURE/FLYER, ETC., GIVEAWAY OR PROMOTIONAL ITEMS An AI file is a vector file type that can only be edited using Adobe Illustrator. Reedsburg School District PDF files are also vector-based. Right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on the image to save it to your hard drive. Place the.pdf or.ai file into your page layout document. Or, send the files to your print or promotional products vendor. WEB PAGE A PNG file can have a transparent background and is generally larger and higher quality. A PNG is ideal for Web sites because they can be placed over a colored background. Right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on the image to save it to your hard drive. Place the PNG file onto your Web page following the app instructions.
