2 WELCOME The Design Manual documents are official and formal publications of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. The primary Design Manual documents are viewed by Acrobat *.pdf files on the CD-ROM. All supplemental documents provided in support to the Design Manual are also official releases of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Office of Engineering. These include the Specifications, To-Reach Documents and Exhibits. The To-Reach manuals are survey control data sheets for the monumentation update programs at both Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. A bookmark link has been provided for only Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport s To-Reach document (Home/ View Files on CD/To-Reach DCA).

4 MICROSTATION All Authority Standard Title Blocks, Cover Sheets and Project grids in MicroStation V8 format are available on this CD in the following folder: MWAA DM \CAD\MStation\V8 Please refer to the Read Me file for more information

5 specs The Authority Provided Specifications are available in both PDF and Microsoft Word. The PDF files are provided as a read only document reflecting all updates made to the specifications during 2009 while the Microsoft Word files, also updated with all changes made in 2009, are ready for editing. To edit the attached specifications, the hidden text option must be enabled. This allows the specifications editor to view instructions throughout each specification section. To enable the hidden text option, in Word 2003, select Tools from the toolbar at top. Within Tools, select Options. Under Options select View. Look under Formatting Marks and make sure that the Hidden Text box is checked. Hidden text should now be visible within the document. In Word 2008, click on upper left Office Button. Click on Word Options at bottom of menu. Click on Display. Under always show these formatting marks on the screen check the Hidden Text box. Hidden text should now be visible within the document. Should the A/E use Track Changes, please submit the specifications with the Deletions Hidden option activated in the Track Changes menu. The A/E should submit one (1) copy of the specifications at each submittal with track changes showing. To obtain electronic copies of the Authority Provided Specifications (Specs), please contact your Authority Contracting Officer or the Authority Contracting Officer s Technical Representative (COTR).

8 AUTO CAD CADD files for use in producing drawings that conform to the Authority s CADD Standards. MicroStation and AutoCAD drawing files are included for both Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. These files include Borders and Cover Sheets in two sizes (24 x 36, 30 x 42), Project Grids, Fonts and a Readme.pdf file. These CADD files are found by using the bookmark links (home/ View Files on CD/AutoCAD or MicroStation) or in the CAD/ AutoCAD and CAD/MicroStation directories on the CD-ROM. The Readme.pdf file contains information that is vital to produce drawings correctly utilizing MicroStation and AutoCAD software. Other useful documents approved by the Authority that may be of assistance to the A/Es in their service(s) to the Authority.
