2 1. Installation for an system Arrange the instruments as shown. If the has a shorter link tube attached then the connection kit (U-UK2-2S) will be needed to reach from the to the UNITY 2 tube oven. To fit the longer link tube: Remove the white plastic thumb nuts highlighted. Then remove the back top cover. Remove the rear top side panel by pulling the back (narrow) edge of the panel sideways (away from the instrument) and then by pushing the panel up and sliding off. 3 Disconnect the two power leads from the link tube to the connector mounted near to the white plate above the heater. Disconnect the carrier gas inlet line of the link tube to the main carrier gas line of using 8 mm spanners. Using two spanners (10 mm and 8 mm) remove the short link tube from the heated. Fit the longer link tube to the heated and tighten. Note: it is essential to use both spanners when tightening this connection, use of only one spanner can result in twisting and subsequent damage. Reconnect the carrier gas inlet line. Attach the 2 power leads from the link tube to the connector (it does not matter which cable is connected into which hole). Replace the covers. 4 2. Switching between & Air Server Switch off power to UNITY 2 and. Connect the required link tube and move the other to one side as shown. Caution: The link tubes and tube oven can be hot. When switching configuration the MFC connections will also need reconfiguring according to the number of MFCs present. One MFC Using the supplied brass fittings and green PEEK tubing connect the MFC as shown. Switching s will require the MFC connections to be altered. 5 Air Server Interface unheated Split tube Two MFCs Using the supplied brass fittings and green PEEK tubing connect the MFCs as shown. Switching s will not require the MFC connections to be altered. 6 Air Server Interface unheated Split tube Switch on the power to the instruments and start the software. Go to View Options Configuration The Air Server and configurations are shown opposite. 7 Click on the Flow Control tab. Click Scan for Flow Controllers to automatically detect all MFCs present. Enter the maximum flow for the MFC(s) detected into the Full range ml/min box. 8 3. 50:50 with UNITY 2 and Air Server series 2 The sample and recollection lines on 50:50 are long enough to reach the UNITY 2 tube oven over the Air Server, so do not require modification. To take advantage of the MFC(s) present on UNITY 2 with the 50:50 the following options are available: One MFC Using 2 sections of PEEK tubing and a 1/16 t-piece T the and recollect / dry purge flows on 50:50. 50:50 Do the same with the and desorb flows on UNITY 2. 1/8 graphite vespel ferrules recoll Note: In 50:50 the desorb flow is still manually controlled on UNITY 2 (the flow on UNITY 2 is not used).
