1 COURSE SYLLABUS COURSE NUMBER AND TITLE: ARTV 1351 Digital Video COURSE (CATALOG) DESCRIPTION: Skill development in producing and editing video and sound for multimedia productions. Emphasis on the capture, editing, and outputting of video using a desktop digital video workstation. MAJOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS: This course has been divided into ten units and they are on: A. Introduction to Digital Video B. Fundamentals of Digital Video C. Fundamentals of Commercial Video D. Introduction to Software Application E. Introduction to Video Editing F. Video Production Process G. Newsgathering H. Introduction to Media Marketing I. Introduction to Video Optimizing J. Video Master Output In each unit you will be given a lecture/demonstration and then be expected to perform the assignments for each unit. Each assignment will be demonstrated and explained so that you can then attempt it. After each unit there will be a knowledge exam and a performance exam. 4 GRADING CRITERIA: GRADING SCALE: Assignments 15% Productions 20% Quizzes 25% Tests 25% All students must pass equipment competency tests to use the equipment. Work Habits 15% (Includes: the ability to follow through on tasks, punctuality, dependability, attitude, productive work habits, and class participation.) Utilize GradeSpeed ParentConnect to monitor grades and missing assignments.
