The goal of the association is to share information and to help educate the public in the use of personal computers. Members range from experienced to beginners. Programs feature topics and subjects of interest to the general membership with emphasis on basic computer skills. Member and guest speakers provide demonstrations, lectures, questions, answers and, on occasion, hands-on experience. A Different Kind of Underline Have you really looked at the Underline button in Word 2007 and 2010? Well then let's compare: See the difference? Yep that's right, the 2007 and 2010 version have a down arrow indicating additional choices. Click the down arrow and you can see there's several underline choices readily available the same choices you've always had (and still do) in the Font dialog box With that one little addition to the Underline button your choices are now at your fingertips without extra dialog boxes and all the hassles that can go along with using them.

3 Should I Switch From Windows 7 I could buy WINDOWS 8..installed or DVD. I don t know whether to get it or not. If you re happy with Windows 7, there s no reason to switch right now. The operating system is still compatible with the majority of programs out there. Microsoft will continue to provide complete support for Windows 7 until January 2015 and extended security support until January of How do I fix a computer sending spam to my address book? How does my computer send out s to several names on my address list, saying it s from me, when I am not on the computer or not even at home? It s always just a link to something. What can be done to stop it from happening again? If you re looking to purchase a new computer, there s no reason to be afraid of Windows 8. It s different, but it s not that complicated once you get used to the new interface. Although, it is geared more towards touchscreen devices. If you need a new computer and you would prefer Windows 7, you may need to have it custom-built. You really don t see Windows 7 as the standard operating system on new PCs, since Microsoft considers Windows 8 to be the future of the PC. You have a Virus on your computer. Many viruses use this kind of technique because people are far more likely to open up from people they know. The links that are being sent out sometimes are as innocent as advertisements for products, but often are intended to infect other computers with the same virus. I recommend using an antivirus program, such as Panda Cloud antivirus, to clean your system. Panda can be downloaded at and you should run it and do a full system scan. I would recommend after running it also running TrendMicro Housecall (It s always good to run two different scans, as no antivirus is 100% effective) available at While I have no trouble telling Windows 7 users that s fine to stick with their operating system, I will take the opportunity to remind Windows XP users that time is running out. Microsoft will end security support for XP in April of 2014, leaving your system vulnerable to attack.. ~ Cynthia.Worldstart.com

4 Setting up an Outlook.com mail account How do you set up your Outlook.com mail account? Start by going to Outlook.com. You ll see a log in screen with an option to Sign up now. Click on Sign up now. Is Outlook.com The Same As Outlook Express Is Outlook.com the same as Outlook Express, a POP 3 account? Do I need to get a different account like Gmail so when the comp. crashes I don t lose all my s. If you already have a Hotmail, SkyDrive or Xbox LIVE account you can sign in and claim an Outlook.com address. Otherwise, you fill out the basic information, create a password and accept the terms of service and you ve got an Outlook.com account. Outlook.com is a web-based service. Outlook Express is an client program that you install on your computer. Judging from your address, currently you are using Outlook Express with an account provided by your Internet service provider. Having an account through Outlook.com or Gmail is a good idea. Not only do you have your e- mails stored somewhere in case your computer crashes, but if you decide to change Internet service providers, you won t have to go through the hassle of changing your address. If you switch to Gmail or another web-based service, you can still use Outlook Express to download your to your computer, if you prefer using an client to the web-based experience. ~ Cynthia.Worldstart.com

5 Change the Windows Explorer Default Folder Windows 7 users know that when they go to their Windows Explorer, the first window that opens up is for Libraries. What if I want to start off someplace else? What then? Locate your Windows Explorer icon on your taskbar, or click Start and type Windows Explorer into your Search Box. Either way, you re going to want to right-click the Windows Explorer icon and select Properties. Under the Shortcut tab, focus your attention to the text input box next to Target: Say No To All Have you ever been doing something in Windows that involved multiple files? If so, you ve probably come across a message similar to this at one time or another: Simply type the address of the folder you want Windows Explorer to start in after the %windir%\explorer.exe. So, for example, mine would look like this: Notice how there s an option for Yes to All, but no button for No to All? What gives? I m not going to be sitting here rapidly clicking No all night, am I? Well, the good news is that if you find yourself in this situation, all you need to do to get No to All is hold the Shift key when you click No. Make sure you know what you re saying no to in the first place! Note: An easy way to select a new default location is to browse to the location, right click in the address bar, select Copy address as text and paste in the Target box. ~Andrew.Worldstart.com After your new default folder location is in, click Apply then OK.
