Both Entourage 2004 and 2008 are able to connect with the CBE Exchange mail server. Although it is possible to configure Entourage to point directly to the Exchange server, this is not desirable as most staff use laptops and go back and forth between home and school. Direct Exchange server access is only available when the computer is within the CBE network environment. These instructions will detail how to configure Entourage to connect to the OWA server, which is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection. Benefits of Entourage over OWA: The primary benefit of Entourage is that it caches the user's messages on the hard drive of their local computer. Even when an Internet connection is not available (or the Exchange server is down), users may still review messages already received and create new messages to be sent once the computer is back online. Entourage also allows users to preview attachments in the body of the rather than needing to download them separately before viewing. In addition, Entourage offers a number of tools (Calendars, Tasks, Projects) which may assist staff in managing busy schedules. Configuration: Entourage must be configured from within the user's account. Open Entourage from /Applications/Microsoft Office Add it to the user's Dock if desired. If the Account Setup Assistant does not open automatically, click Tools > Accounts... > New. Enter the staff member's address, check the box next to "My Account is on an Exchange server," and click "Configure Account Manually." Page 1 of 5

Be sure to change the "Name" field under Personal Information to the user's real name.

2 The Edit Account panel will open. Fill in the Account Settings tab as shown in the attached picture. "Account Name" is the name the user will see when they open Entourage. Be sure to change the "Name" field under Personal Information to the user's real name. (It will probably default to "Calgary Board of Education.") This is the name that mail recipients will see when the user sends them an message. If you are unable to enter the user's password at this time, Entourage will ask for it later. Page 2 of 5

3 Fill in the Advanced tab as shown in the attached picture. Leave the Search Base field blank. Page 3 of 5

4 There are no changes necessary to the Options, Delegate or Mail Security tabs. The Search Base should be set to dc=org,dc=cbe,dc=ab,dc=ca (This way when looking up names it won't poll CBEEDU all of the students...) The checkbox "This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) must be unchecked or else security certificate errors pop up! Click OK to finish setting up the account and close the Accounts window. If the user has not entered a password previously, Entourage will prompt for one and Page 4 of 5

5 then connect to the OWA server and begin downloading messages. This may take some time if the user has a large collection of . Allow the process to finish: once complete, subsequent synchronizations will take only a few seconds. If Entourage does not automatically begin downloading messages, Quit and restart Entourage.
