3 Purpose This document is designed to assist with configuring your clients for your MAC following your migration to the Microsoft Office 365 single platform. General Settings and logon information Logging on to Exchange 365 Outlook Web Access Exchange 365 offers an Outlook Web Application (OWA) that can be accessed and used through supported web browsers. To use OWA, go to the following link: Your logon credentials for OWA are: User Name - u @uds.anu.edu.au Password - Your ANU password Exchange 365 IMAP Server Settings To access the IMAP server settings for Exchange 365: 1. Sign in to your account using Outlook Web App (as outlined above). 2. Click Options > See All Options > Account > My Account > Settings for POP, IMAP and SMTP access. 3. The POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP server name and other settings you may need to enter are listed on the Protocol Settings page under POP setting or IMAP setting and SMTP setting. *Note: The instruction outlined above have been sourced from Microsoft: 3

4 MAC Client Configuration Apple Mail Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and later 1. Open Mail If you have previously used Mail: 1a. From "Mail" menu, choose "Preferences" 1b. Select "Accounts" tab at the top of preferences window 4

5 5 1c. Click "+" button at the bottom of account list on left

6 2. Enter the following details: Full Name: John Smith Address: Password: Your ANU password 3. Click Continue Mail will be unable to log-in as it needs your username 6

7 4. Enter the following details: User name: 5. Click Continue 7

8 6. When prompted, select if you want to also configure Office 365 contacts and calendars 7. Click Create 8. Close the Mail Preferences 8

9 Apple Mail (Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and earlier) 1. Open Mail If you have previously used Mail: 9 1a. From "Mail" menu, choose "Preferences" 1b. Select "Accounts" tab at the top of preferences window 1c. Click "+" button at the bottom of account list on left 2. Enter the following details: Full Name: John Smith Address: john.smith@anu.edu.au Password: Your ANU password 3. Enter the following details for Incoming Mail Server (you may only see 3 of the below headings): Account Type: IMAP Description: ANU (or your own description) Incoming Mail Server: IMAP server (see page 3, General Setting and Logon Information) User Name: u @uds.anu.edu.au Password: Your ANU password 4. Click Continue 5. Enter the following details for Outgoing Mail Server: Description: ANU (or your own description) Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.outlook.com Use Authentication: On User Name: u @uds.anu.edu.au Password: Your ANU password 6. Click Continue 7. Click Create 8. Close the Mail Preferences

10 Outlook for Mac Launch Outlook If you have previously used Outlook for Mac: From the "Tools" menu, choose "Accounts" Click the "+" menu at the bottom of the accounts list, and choose "Exchange" from the menu 10

11 If you have not previously used Outlook: Click "Add Account" in the welcome window Click "Exchange Account" 11

12 2. Welcome to Outlook for Mac Check Make Outlook the default application for , calendar and contacts Click Add Account 12

13 3. Account Click "Exchange Account" 13

14 4. Enter the following information: address: Method: User Name and Password User name: Password: Your ANU password Configure automatically: On (check the box) 5. Click Add Account 14

15 6. When prompted if you want to allow the server "autodiscover-s.outlook.com" to configure your account, Check Always use my response for this server Click "Allow" 7. Once Outlook has configured itself, you may wish to rename the default account name: Account Description: ANU (or your own description) 8. Close the Accounts Settings screen 15

16 Entourage 2008 (Web Services Edition) You must have the Entourage (Web Services Edition) optional update from Microsoft installed to work with Office 365. Office 365 does not work with the standard version of Entourage Launch Entourage If you have previously used Entourage: 16 1a. Choose "Accounts" from the "Tools" menu 1b. Click the "New" button at the top of the Accounts window If you have not used Entourage before: 1a. Choose "Start using Entourage without importing anything" 1b. Click the right arrow 2. Enter your address when requested: address: My account is on an Exchange server: On 3. When prompted, enter your account details: Account ID: Password: Your ANU password Save password in my Mac OS keychain: On (recommended) 4. When prompted if you want to allow the server "autodiscover-s.outlook.com" to configure your account, select "Allow" 5. Click the right arrow when asked to confirm your account details 6. Check that your name and address are correct on this screen, then click the right arrow 7. Click "Verify my settings" and ensure that the following is displayed: "Your account settings have been successfully verified" 8. Click the right arrow 9. Enter a description for your account: Account name: ANU (or your own description)

17 Thunderbird for Mac: 1. Launch Thunderbird If you haven't used Thunderbird before: 1a. Click "Skip this and use my existing " at the bottom of the dialog 17

18 2. Enter the following information: Your name: John Smith address: Password: Your ANU password Check the Remember password box 3. Click Continue 4. Click Manual config 18

Enter the following information: Incoming Server type: IMAP Server hostname: IMAP server (see Page 3, General Setting and Logon Information) Port: 993 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal password Outgoing Server hostname: smtp.outlook.com Port: 465 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal password Username: 6. Click Done 19

20 Thunderbird also needs an advanced configuration to work with Office 365 IMAP correctly. 1. From the Thunderbird menu, select "Preferences" 2. Select the "Advanced" section, then the "General" tab 3. Click "Config Editor" 20

21 4. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" 5. Enter "expunge" in the search field 21

22 6. Double click on the "mail.imap.expunge_after_delete" setting to change the value to "true" 7. Close the configuration window 8. Close the Advanced settings window 22
