1 The English School Network What is my NetID? Your NetID is the only username and password that is used to access computer systems at The English School. , workstations and WIFI all use the same user name and password. Guidelines for selecting a good password. When you select a password, follow these guidelines: Use at least eight characters; the more characters, the better. Make your password easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess. Intersperse punctuation marks or symbols such as #, $, %, etc. Do not use a blank space. Always use a mixture of upper- and lower-case characters and numbers. Your password cannot contain your first, middle, or last name nor your NetID. How to Log on a Workstation for the first Time. 1. At the Windows login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete. A security warning will appear. Click OK

2 2. This will bring you to the log on screen Enter your NetID and NetID password and press enter or click on the arrow

3 3. If it is the first time you are logging in the following screen will appear. Press OK to go the new password screen 4. Enter your new password. The password must be at least eight characters long. It is best that the password is made of a combination of characters, numbers and special characters such as:!#$%^&*. A sample password can be P@ssw0rd! Please enter the password twice and press Enter or. The system will now verify that the two password match and then change your password to the new one.

4 5. After the password has been successfully changed the following screen will appear informing you that your password has been changed. 6. Press OK or the Enter key and the system will go through the log-in process where it is preparing your account and your desktop. The screen will show the following for about a minute. 7. You now have your desktop in front of you and should look something like below.

5 Accessing The English School . There are a number of way of accessing the English School . can be accessed via a web browser, an client such as Outlook and via the client of a mobile device. The easiest way to access on a computer is via a web browser. It provides a fast and convenient way. Accessing the English School webmail. 1. Go to Click on the Webmail link as shown below or type: in your browser address bar. 2. Enter your NetID in the User name field and NetID Password in the password field and press Sign In

6 3. After successfully signing in the Outlook Web App will be infront of you Outlook Web App Features Public vs Private OWA has the option of choosing a "private" computer or a "public" computer. If you select "private" you will be able to stay connected for hours rather than minutes. It is not recommended that you select "private" if you are on a public computer. The Reading Pane The first thing you will likely notice about the Full version of OWA is the fact that it features a Reading Pane which allows you to view s in the same screen as your inbox. This saves you the hassle of having to load a page to view each message. The Reading Pane is also present in the Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Public Folders sections, allowing you to view additional information on each item in a similar fashion. Contact Find The Full OWA has another time-saving feature allowing you to look up someone's address without having to actually open your contacts list. Simply type in the person's name into the search box in the top right-hand corner of the web page, and a box will pop down as you type showing you the name and that matches what you typed. Rules The Full OWA now supports the creation and editing of Rules, which can be accessed from the options menu. You can use rules to do anything from automatically moving certain messages to redirecting messages to another account. Calendar Options More advanced Calendaring options are available in the Full version of OWA than are in the Light. The Full version offers reminder alerts for calendar events, as well as automatic calendar processing, which will automatically add/remove/edit events when you receive meeting updates, cancellations, etc. More time increment options are also available, allowing you to break your day down further into 15 minute intervals instead of the normal 30 minutes.

7 Exchange iphone, ipad, ipod Touch You can use the native Active Sync client on the iphone, ipad, or ipod Touch devices to access your English School account. The instructions below will lead you step by step through the process. Configure the exchange settings 1. Make sure that your device is running the latest version of the software that it can be. 2. To add an account : Select Settings from the home screen and then select Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Choose Exchange 3. Type in your firstname.lastname@englishschool.ac.cy address, and your NetID Password and eschool as the description. Click next and then type webmail.englishschool.ac.cy for the Server, eschool.local for the Domain and your NetID for the username field. The password is carried forward from the previous step. Click Next and the phone will try to verify the settings. Once verified click Save. See the picture below.

9 How to connect to the English School WIFI The English School wireless network is made of two different SSIDs, Secure and Guest. Secure is used to give access to official network users such as staff and students. In order to authenticate, a user must provide their NetID credentials. Use your device to find available wireless networks. Select secure. The system will then ask for a username and password. Enter username in the form: eschool\netid and password in the password field. If a security warning pops up continue and the connection will be established. This is a one-time process. Every time the device is on premises authentication will take place automatically. For security reasons you might notice that not all sites are available on the wireless network as a web filter is applied. The English School Information Communication Department
