What's new in this release? Satori Presort 8.00c (Service Pack 17 or "SP17") supports the USPS Winter 2015 Minor PostalOne! Release changes that will be deployed on January 25, This release contains two new add-on features that require license keys to use: Air Freight Box support and evs support. For more information, please contact your Satori Sales Representative. There are no price changes in this release. Important: Due to the discontinuation of Windows XP support by Microsoft in April 2014, we are planning to end support for Presort on the Windows XP platform after the USPS Winter 2015 Major PostalOne! Release (in Q1 2015). SP17 is the last release that will include support for Presort on Windows XP. The first release that will not support Presort on the Windows XP platform will be the USPS Spring 2015 Major PostalOne! Release. Feature changes and updates License keys are required for two new features Air Freight Box for Periodical Flat Mailings support (requires a license key) Note: This feature was released in SP16 on a limited basis. It is now available for general release. Electronic Verification System (evs) for IMpb support (requires a license key) Uniqueness tracking enhancements Uniqueness periods of serial numbers IMpb tracking EFN tracking How MIDs are populated in the Shipping Services File IMpb for Standard Mail parcels support First-Class Package Service Parcels at single piece rate in the Shipping Services File support First Class Irregular Parcel surcharge support New IM parcel barcode compliance requirements that go into effect January 25, 2015: Parcels require unique IM package barcodes. (Presort no longer supports nonbarcoded parcels.) Parcels require either the Destination Delivery Address or the Delivery Point Validated (DPV) 11-digit Zip Code in the Shipping Services File. 4

Mail.dat changes Other changes Fixed issues Documentation available online The Satori Presort 8.00c Release Notes are available online. All other Presort documentation is now available online as well. See Accessing Documentation for more information. License keys are required for two new features Presort requires license keys for the following new features: Air Freight Box support Electronic Verification System (evs) for IMpb support Contact your Satori Software Sales Representative for more information. Air freight boxes for Periodical Flat Mailings This feature requires a license key to use. Contact your Satori Sales Representative for more information. Air freight boxes (AFBs) are used for expedited delivery of time-sensitive materials. You can ship mail by air and then submit by surface entry at USPS induction plants that are closer to the mail destination. AFBs are used only for mailing Periodicals flats. Using AFBs allows for faster delivery time and lower postage paid, but costs more overall due to the cost of shipping by air. Delivery time is faster because it is shipped by air part of the way. (Delivery time would be longer if the mail were shipped entirely by ground from an entry point closer to you.) Postage is based on the distance from the entry point to the destination. The postage for mail submitted at an entry point closer to the destination is lower than it would be if the mail were submitted at an entry point closer to you (farther from the destination). The cost for shipping the mail by air freight to an entry point closer to the destination can be high and will likely cause the overall cost of shipping the mail by air and ground (cost of shipping to an entry point closer to the destination plus postage from that entry point) to be higher than shipping the mail entirely by ground from an entry point closer to you. 5

AFBs must be submitted with an 8125 unless you are using einduction or surface-visible containers to submit the mail. AFBs are prepared much in the same way as pallets, but with some important differences. For more information, see AFB preparation. AFBs receive either a sack container charge or pallet container charge based on weight. For more information, see AFB pricing. AFBs are reported as a container type of "Air Box" in the Mail.dat CSM record. Sibling AFBs are not supported by Presort. Note: Preparing AFBs requires you to copy and paste the Presort Scheme: PER, Packages in Air Freight Boxes block from the Master Job File (master.pst) into your job file. Air freight box preparation AFBs must be prepared according to DMM Preparing Pallets. Packages must be prepared according to DMM Periodicals Bundles, Sacks, or Trays. AFBs are prepared much like pallets. Some similarities include: Two adjacent sides of the AFB must be labeled with a placard just like pallets. You use the same placards as you do for pallets. You can use IM container barcodes to assign and track unique serial numbers. You can set the bundle size. You can use Mailflow to change the output sequence. There are some differences, however: AFBs are smaller than pallets and generally do not weigh more than 200 pounds. SCF container protection is not supported. Leveling is not allowed. AFBs must be filled before starting the next one so that there are as few AFBs created as possible. This is done to optimize space in the cargo area. Only MADC and Origin MADC AFBs can be less than full and can contain as few as one bundle. (These partially full AFBs are cut down and stacked to optimize cargo space.) There are no containers used inside AFBs. Bundles are placed directly into the AFB. No trays or sacks are used. (However, an AFB is charged either a pallet or sack container charge depending on the weight, rather than a specific "AFB" rate. For more information, see AFB Pricing.) The minimum weight for an FSS Scheme AFB is based on the weight of the AFB, not 250 pounds as it is for pallets. If you have enough mail to fill an AFB destined to a single FSS Scheme, an FSS Scheme AFB will be made. If you choose to make FSS Facility AFBs, 6

they are made in the same way as all other non-mixed levels (when there is enough mail to fill the AFB). All required documentation must be placed into the AFB. (An 8125 is also required unless you are submitting the AFB using einduction.) AFBs are set up in the PER, Packages in Air Freight Boxes scheme block, which has many of the same parameters as the PER, Packages on Pallets block. Parameters specific to AFB are: Max internal AFB Height Max internal AFB Width Max internal AFB Depth Max AFB Package Wt Max AFB Mail Wt Max AFB Volume In addition, the Automation Barcode Type parameter in the Version Defaults or Version Description blocks must be set to FULL, BASIC, FROM_SRVC_TYPE, or left blank. When an AFB is considered "full" Presort uses the size and weight information of the AFB and the packages to determine the maximum number of packages that can fit into the AFB. Presort first calculates the internal volume of the AFB based on its internal height, width, and depth. Then, the maximum amount of mail that can fit into the AFB is determined based on the internal volume, maximum package weight (Max AFB Package Wt) and maximum thickness of a package (Max Package Thickness), the maximum weight of the AFB (Max AFB Mail Wt), and the maximum amount of the internal volume of the box to fill. Presort will fill the box to within 95% of the specified maximum weight or calculated maximum volume, whichever is reached first. For example, if the maximum weight of the AFB is set to 200 pounds, Presort will make the AFB when the weight reaches at least 190 pounds (95% of 200 pounds). There must be enough mail (at least 95% of the maximum weight or maximum volume) in a level for the AFB to be made; otherwise the mail will fall to the next level. In some cases, Presort may make an AFB that is less than 95% of the maximum weight or volume. For example, if the maximum weight is 200 pounds, and there is a total of 101% of a full container's worth of mail (202 pounds) for a level, and the last package that won't fit weighs more than 5% of the maximum weight (for example, 20 pounds, which is 10% of the maximum weight), that last package won't be placed into the AFB. Instead, a 182-pound AFB would be made and the last 20 pound package would fall to the next level. Smaller packages will lessen the likelihood of this scenario happening. What is considered a "full" AFB can also vary per mailing due to size limitations imposed by entry points, destinations, and airlines. Be sure to take these limits into account when setting up your scheme block and when manually mapping schemes to entry points. When selecting a carrier airline, 7

you will need to work with them to determine their weight and volume limits to ensure your AFBs do not exceed the limits. The maximum AFB internal volume in cubic inches and maximum number of pieces (not packages) that will fit into the AFB are reported on the Presort Job Summary report. The maximum number of pieces reported is not the actual count of the number of pieces that will be placed into the AFB; it is only a calculation of how many pieces could potentially fit. The actual count can vary, especially if you have multiple versions. The maximum number of pieces is calculated based on the smallest version in the mailing. Air freight box sortation AFB sortation rules are somewhat different from rules for pallets: At each sort level within the mailing, there must be enough mail to fill at least one AFB (determined by maximum weight or maximum volume, whichever is reached first). Otherwise the mail will drop to the next sortation level. Each AFB must be filled before the next AFB can be created. Only the last AFB in a mailing may be less than full, and that mail will sort to the MADC or Origin MADC level. If there is not enough mail in the job to fill one AFB, a partially full AFB will be made and will sort to the MADC or Origin MADC level. Any "overflow" mail from a level (mail remaining after the last AFB reaches the maximum box weight, but not enough to fill another AFB) to that destination will fall to the next level. If there is not enough mail at that level to fill an AFB, the mail will continue sorting to lower levels until a full AFB can be made. If there is not enough mail in all of the remaining lower levels combined, a partial AFB will be made, which will sort to the MADC or Origin MADC level. There are no "overflow AFBs" created. Each AFB will be sorted to the finest extent, whether it is reported as a sack (weighing 70 pounds or less) or a pallet (weighing more than 70 pounds). AFBs must be prepared in the sort level sequence listed in DMM Periodicals Bundles, Sacks, or Trays. For details about what "full" AFBs are, see the "When an AFB is considered 'full'" section in AFB Preparation. Air freight box pricing AFBs are charged either a pallet or sack container charge, depending on the weight, and per entry level. There is no specific "AFB" container charge. AFBs more than 70 pounds receive pallet container charges. AFBs less than or equal to 70 pounds receive sack container charges. 8

AFBs are listed as pallets or sacks on the postage statement based on their weight and in the Container Charge Summary of the Qualification Report. They are reported as a container type of "Air Box" in the CSM record. Bundle charges are applied to packages inside AFBs just as they are with packages on pallets. These charges are all reflected on PS-3541 and in the Container Charge Summary on the Qualification Report. Max AFB Mail Wt parameter Use this parameter to set the maximum weight of the AFB. You can set the maximum weight to between 20 and 2200 pounds. Most AFBs allow a maximum weight of 200 pounds; the maximum box weight may vary depending on destination/origin airport and/or box size. You control the maximum amount of mail per AFB with this parameter and the Max AFB Volume parameter. When 95% of either the maximum volume is reached or the maximum weight is reached (whichever comes first), the AFB is considered "full" and the box will be made. (See AFB Preparation in the Presort User Guide for more information about when an AFB is considered "full.") The maximum box weight may vary depending on destination/origin airport and/or box size, so what is considered a "full" AFB can vary per mailing. Note: Leveling is not allowed for AFBs. They must be "full" before the next one can be created. Only the last AFB for a mailing can be less than full, which will be made at either the MADC or OMX level. Max AFB Volume parameter This parameter controls how much of the internal volume of the AFB must be filled to be considered "full." The Max AFB Volume parameter is a percentage of total cubic inches, as determined by the height, width, and depth measurements as set in the Max internal AFB parameters. You can set this parameter to between 75% and 100%. You control the maximum amount of mail per AFB with this parameter and the Max AFB Mail Wt parameter. When 95% of either the maximum volume is reached or the maximum weight is reached (whichever comes first), the AFB is considered "full" and the box will be made. (See AFB Preparation in the Presort User Guide for more information about when an AFB is considered "full.") However, the maximum box weight may vary depending on destination/origin airport and/or box size, so what is considered a "full" AFB can vary per mailing. Note: Leveling is not allowed for AFBs. They must be "full" before the next one can be created. Only the last AFB for a mailing can be less than full, which will be made at either the MADC or OMX level. 9

Max Internal AFB... parameters Set the internal dimensions (in inches) of the AFB using these parameters. Max Internal AFB Height Max Internal AFB Width Max Internal AFB Depth This information is used to calculate the maximum internal volume of the AFB in cubic inches. Be sure to enter accurate measurements; do not round up. Otherwise the calculated volume could be larger than the actual volume, which can affect the maximum number of packages that are calculated to fit into the AFB. Measurement accuracy is especially important if you have multiple versions with varying aspects such as different package sizes. Presort will calculate the volume and maximum number of packages as accurately as it can when considering these variations. Note: The Max internal AFB Height must be larger than the height of one package (as specified in the Max Package Thickness parameter). Otherwise you will receive an error. Be sure to use a box with a height that will accommodate your package height. Max Package Wt parameters This topic applies to the following parameters: Max Pallet Package Wt Max AFB Package Wt You can use the Package Weight parameter or the Max Package Thickness parameter, or both, to set the maximum package size. It is recommended that you use both. The software forms a package when it reaches one limit or the other. The USPS sets the minimum package weight at 10 pounds. Choose a maximum package weight between 10 and 20 pounds. Package weights of more than 20 pounds up to 40 pounds are allowed in certain mailings. Refer to the DMM for details. You'll want to set the package size large enough to minimize the number of packages you need to make, but small enough to stay within the limitations of your binding equipment. You also might consider reducing the number of heavy packages that your mail-room staff must handle. Note: A lower maximum package weight will allow more mail to fit into an AFB so that it can be as full as possible. (If the last package for an AFB is too thick or too heavy, it will not be put into the AFB, and there will be some space leftover. If the packages are smaller, more of them can be placed into the box to fill up any remaining space before the box is full.) 10

Electronic Verification System (evs) for IMpb This feature requires a license key to use. Contact your Satori Sales Representative for more information. The Electronic Verification System (evs ) allows parcel shippers to prepare parcel mailings with IMpb compliant shipping labels, submit a single Shipping Services File (.manifest) for Tracking and Postage Payment, and manage quality across all mailings with a monthly reconciliation process. There are many benefits of using evs: You can use a single national permit account for all mailing sites. There is no permit imprint application fee. You can bypass the traditional Mail Acceptance/Verification process at Business Mail Entry Unit; enter mail directly at Origin or Destination facilities. Mail entry times are flexible with FAST appointments. You do not need to submit PS Form 8125 for Drop-Shipments. Electronic postage statements generated from the Shipping Services File are visible in PostalOne! along with additional account monitoring and mailing data reports. Note: evs requires secure transmission of materials in order to ensure data security and integrity of its systems and those of USPS customers. You must generate a Shipping Services File type 1 when using evs. You specify the file type in the Electronic File Type parameter. File type 1 requires that the electronic file number (EFN) in the Header record and the IMpb number in the Detail 1 record be unique for 180 days. Also, certain fields in the Detail 1 record that are not required for file type 2 are mandatory for file type 1. See Shipping Services File in the Presort User Guide for more information. The following references contain more details about using evs: USPS IMpb Implementation Guide for Confirmation Services and Electronic Verification System (evs) Mailers (Publication 199) USPS Electronic Verification System (evs ) Business and Technical Guide (Publication 205) DMM Electronic Verification System RIBBS evs information 11

Electronic File Type parameter Specify the type of Shipping Services File to generate with this parameter. Options are as follows: Option Description 1 File type 1 for evs tracking and postage. 2 File type 2 for Confirmation Services tracking only. See "Shipping Services File" in the Presort User Guide for more information. evs Mailer IDs (MIDs) Using evs requires a unique MID that identifies the evs mailer or the evs mailer s client, and can only be used for evs mailings and data file transmission. Each evs mailer must have a single master MID (used for file transmissions from the evs mailer and must be the MID used in the unique EFN submitted for all evs files), and may have multiple piece MIDs relating to each mailing site. Mail Service Providers (MSP) must have a unique MID for each client. For information on how MIDs are populated in the Shipping Services File, se er ID (MID) and Mail Ownership in the Presort User Guide. An evs MID typically contains 9 digits and begins with "9". It is possible to get a 6-digit MID if you meet certain conditions. To receive an evs MID, you must first establish a permit account number exclusively for evs use and obtain a CAPS Debit postage payment account. Then you can request a Mailer Identification (MID) number from the USPS Business Customer Gateway. You must then have those MIDs evscertified. See "Appendix B: evs Applications" in the USPS Electronic Verification System (evs ) Business and Technical Guide for details. Mail preparation for evs You must prepare mail for evs according to the standards in DMM 705 and the following additional standards: Only items as defined in the DMM may be mailed using evs. Assigned evs permit imprint may only be used as the postage payment method for evs mailings. Destination entry rate mail must meet the applicable standards in the DMM. Presort rate mail must meet the applicable presort standards and volumes in the DMM. All mail must meet the classification and content eligibility requirements in the DMM. Content Based Prices (Bound Printed Matter, Library Mail and Media) are subject to inspection and review. 12

evs mail must be separated from non-evs mail when presented for mailing. At a minimum, evs and non-evs mail must be presented in separate containers and clearly identified. Postage must be computed according to the applicable standards in the DMM, including DMM for computing postage. Parcel marking requirements: Each parcel included in an evs mailing must bear the same permit imprint indicia following the standards in DMM on use and format Each parcel mailed under evs must bear the appropriate evs label with all the appropriate markings following the standards in DMM. Please refer to the USPS Parcel Labeling Guide, available on RIBBS, for further details and sample images. Container marking requirements: DMM (b) "Elements on the Face of a Mailpiece -- Exceptions to Markings": Mail manifested using the Electronic Verification System (evs) under must bear the basic marking and the additional marking evs (or the alternative "e-vs" or "EVS") in two places: In the required permit imprint as described in In the human-readable text above the required barcode described in and DMM "Electronic Verification System": All sacks containing parcels prepared and identified using the Electronic Verification System (evs) under must show "evs" (or the alternatives "EVS" or "E-VS") on the label directly below Line 3 using the same size and lettering used for Line 3. As an option, "evs" may be placed as the first element on Line 3. Label design files that meet these requirements are available in Satori Label Studio 7.90c Uniqueness tracking enhancements To comply with the USPS IMpb requirements, all parcels are now required to have a unique IM package barcode. Presort now supports uniqueness tracking of IM package barcodes. You can also assign and track IM container barcodes for Airboxes, which are assigned and tracked just like pallets. Presort also supports uniqueness tracking of Electronic File Numbers in the Shipping Services File. The EFN in the H1 record of the Shipping Services file must be unique for 120 days beginning on January 25, 2015, (however Presort will enforce a uniqueness period of 180 days). There is no need to change your database structure or table values to incorporate EFN tracking; Presort will automatically apply 180-day compliance for EFN values. 13

Note: If you have assigned EFNs in the previous 120 days, you can contact Support for assistance in putting them into your tracking database so that when you set Presort to automatically assign numbers, their uniqueness will be maintained and not assigned to another Shipping Services File before the required 120-day uniqueness period is over. Because of these compliance requirements, we modified how Presort populates MIDs in the Shipping Services File. Assigning and tracking unique serial numbers As a requirement to comply with the Full Service Mail option, the USPS requires that information such as Intelligent Mail (IM) barcodes and electronic file numbers be unique for a minimum number of days from the postage statement mailing date. Presort can automatically create unique serial numbers and assign them to letters and flats, trays/sacks, pallets, parcels, and air freight boxes (AFB). (AFB numbers are tracked as pallet numbers, not sack numbers, regardless of the AFB weight. See AFB pricing for details.) Note: The feature is sometimes referred to as "IMb tracking," "IMpb tracking," or "uniqueness tracking." See for more information about Intelligent Mail. Uniqueness periods of serial numbers Uniqueness periods of serial numbers vary depending on what the number is tracking: IM barcodes (IMb) must be unique for at least 45 days for letters and flats. IM parcel barcodes (IMpb) must be unique for 180 days for parcels. Presort will enforce a uniqueness period of 180 days for the Electronic File Number (EFN). (The EFN is used in the Header 1 record of the Shipping Services File to uniquely identify the file.) Presort will enforce a uniqueness period of 180 days for pallet barcodes for all piece types (letters, flats, and parcels). Presort does not track pallets of letters and flats separately from pallets of parcels, so ALL pallet barcodes must be unique for 180 days. Container (tray and sack) barcodes must be unique for 45 days if the container holds letters or flats, or 180 days if the container holds parcels. Presort tracks containers of letters and flats separately from containers of parcels; containers have a different CIN for each mail class that provide uniqueness. Air freight box (AFB) barcodes are tracked like pallets, and therefore will be unique for 180 days. By default, Presort will enforce the uniqueness of a serial number for the minimum number of days required, from the date in the Date to Start Tracking parameter. You can increase the uniqueness periods to 90, 180, or 365 days for letters and flats and 365 days for parcels and the electronic file number by using a copy of one of the sample databases located in the...\ss\pst\samples 14

folder. (Be sure to make a copy of the sample database and place it in the appropriate location for this purpose before you use it;do not write to the sample database itself.) If you need a uniqueness period of something other than 45, 90, 180, or 365 days, or are using an existing tracking database file and want to change the uniqueness period, contact Satori Technical Support for assistance. The sample tracking database files are: Filename sample_45.s3db* sample_90.s3db sample_180.s3db sample_365.s3db Uniqueness period 45 days 90 days 180 days 365 days * If you are using the 45-day uniqueness tracking database file, or a tracking database file that was provided prior to SP15, verify that the Date to Start Tracking value is accurate. Sample job #3 is set up to assign and track serial numbers, located in...\ss\pst\samples. The filenames for each platform are: UNIX: quikunx3.pst Windows: QUIKWIN3.PST To assign and track unique barcode serial numbers This section describes the parameters for assigning and tracking unique barcode serial numbers. For instructions on assigning and tracking electronic file numbers, see To assign and track electronic file numbers. Assigning barcode serial numbers Set the following parameters as shown to assign barcode serial numbers. Note: The AUTO option for all serial number start parameters is used for automatically assigning and tracking serial numbers. Presort will automatically assign the next available serial number and track it in the tracking database. If AUTO is specified in any of the serial number start parameters, you must set up your job for tracking. Date to Start Tracking (MMDDYYYY) <The first day of the uniqueness period> How Presort populates MIDs for Parcel mailings Presort uses the value in the Elec. File Num Mailer ID parameter from the Shipping Services block to create the Electronic File Number in the H1 record (position 4-37). Presort populates the Tracking Number field (position 3-36) in the D1 record with the mail preparer MID, which comes from the IMB Mailer ID parameter in the Version Defaults block or the PW.IMB_ MID input field. (This is the MID of the company that is managing the mailing.) Note: Either the IMB Mailer ID parameter in the Version block or the PW.IMB_MID input field can be populated with the mail preparer MID. If both of these are populated, Presort defaults to using the MID in the PW.IMB_MID field. The way Presort populates the mail preparer MID and mail owner MID into the D1 record of the Shipping Services File depends on if you are the mail preparer only, or both the mail preparer and the mail owner. Presort determines this by comparing the mail preparer MID (from either the IMB Mailer ID or the PW.IMB_MID field) and the mail owner MID (from the Mailer ID of Mail Owner or the PW.IMBOwnrMID field). 17

If the MIDs do not match, Presort determines that you are the mail preparer only. Presort populates the Logistics Manager Mailer ID field (position ) with the mail preparer MID, which comes from the IMB Mailer ID parameter in the Version block or the MID in the PW.IMB_MID input field. Presort populates the Mail Owner Mailer ID field (position ) with the mail owner MID, which comes from the Mailer ID of Mail Owner parameter in the Version block or the PW.IMBOwnrMID input field. If the MIDs do match, Presort determines that you are both the mail preparer and the mail owner. Multiple mail owners Presort will NOT populate the Logistics Manager Mailer ID field OR the Mail Owner Mailer ID field of the D1 record. Because both MIDs are the same, the Tracking Number, which contains your mail preparer MID, is all that is needed to indicate that you are both the mail preparer and the mail owner. If you have multiple mail owners in a job, you can populate the PW.IMBOwnrMID input field to assign a specific mail owner MID to each piece in the job. This MID will take precedence over the MID in the Mailer ID of Mail Owner ID parameter in the Version Block. New PW.IMBOwnrMID input field PW.IMBOwnrMID is a new input field for the mail owner MID. Presort uses the MID in this field to populate the Mail Owner Mailer ID field (position ) in the Shipping Services File. For more details, see the How Presort populates MIDs. You can also use PW.IMBOwnrMID for Mail.dat: To generate auto-versions based on the mail owner MID and create distinct MPA/CPT records based on the mail owner MID in Mail.dat. To pull in the mail owner MID when Multiple Mailer IDs per Version is set to N. However you must be careful to not accidentally create a single version mailing with multiple owners. Presort does not verify whether the MIDs are consistent across a version. Each time a MID is read from the input file, Presort copies it to a Version structure and overwrites any existing MIDs. Mail.dat pulls the MID from this structure to populate the MPA and CPT records. If you are creating a single-version mailing but your input set has multiple distinct MIDs in PW.IMBOwnrMID, the last MID that was read in will be present in the Version structure and will be the MID that Mail.dat uses in the MPA/CPT records. You cannot use the new PW.IMBOwnrMID field to pull in the mail owner MID when Multiple Mailer IDs per Version is set to Y and IMb/IMpb Owner By/For Option is set to MID or BOTH. You must manually populate Mailer ID of Mail Owner in each Version Description block in this case. 18

First Class Irregular Parcel surcharge support Presort now supports the surcharge for First Class Irregular Parcels. According to DMM , unless prepared in 5-digit/scheme containers, a surcharge applies for presorted parcels that are irregularly shaped, such as rolls, tubes, and triangles. To specify that a mailing contains First Class Irregular parcels, set the Processing Category parameter in the Version blocks to "1C IRREGULAR PARCEL". Parcel surcharges will appear on line C6 in Part C - Parcels in the First-Class Package Service section of postage statement PS FCM. This line will show the number of pieces that received the surcharge and the total postage. IMpb Compliance Changes for January 2015 Effective January 25, 2015, the USPS will charge a $0.20 non-compliance fee for each IMpb piece in a mailing that does not meet the minimum threshold percentage of compliance. The percentage charged depends on the category of compliance, each of which has its own threshold, as shown: IMpb Compliance Thresholds January 2015 Unique IMpb trackable barcode 99% Destination delivery address or Delivery Point Validated (DPV) 11- digit ZIP in the file 98% Shipping services file 1.6 or higher, including required data elements 97% Presort no longer supports non-barcoded parcels. If you create a non-barcoded parcel, it must be entered as a retail single piece. To create IM package barcodes, see Creating IM package barcodes for parcels. All parcels also require the Destination delivery address or Delivery Point Validated (DPV) 11-digit ZIP Code. Important: Presort does not verify whether your mailing is within these thresholds, nor will it calculate any non-compliance fees. You must ensure that your mailings meet the minimum compliance percentages to avoid being charged the non-compliance fee. Creating IM package barcodes for parcels All parcels must have an Intelligent Mail package barcode (IMpb). IM parcel barcodes must be unique for 180 days. This section describes how to set up Presort to create IM package barcodes. See Assigning and tracking unique serial numbers for information about enforcing serial number uniqueness. To create IM package barcodes, perform the following tasks: 1. Set the Intelligent Mail Barcode parameter in the Execution block to IMpb. 2. Set up the Intelligent Mail block. 19

3. Set the following parameters in the Version Description block. For information about these parameters, refer to the Presort Job File Reference. Automation Barcode Type IMpb Barcode Length Digits IMb/IMpb Mailer ID (or PW.IMB_MID in the input file) IMb/IMpb Serial Num Start IMb/IMpb Serial Num Max IMb/IMpb Increment Serial Number IMb/IMpb Srvc Type ID/Code (or PW.Srvc_Type in the input file) IMb/IMpb Owner By/For Option 4. Populate the input file with the following fields and define them in.def file. For information about these fields, refer to the Quick Reference for Views and Job File Products Guide. PW.AdrSsfUpa PW.ZIP and PW.ZIP4 or PW.ZIP10 if the ZIP and ZIP+4 are in the same field PW.DPBC PW.IMB_MID (if IMb/IMpb Mailer ID was not populated in the Version Description block) PW.IMB_Serial (if you are importing your own serial numbers) PW.Srvc_Type (if IMb/IMpb Srvc Type ID/Code was not specified in the Version Description block) Note: The information you set in your PW fields overrides anything you set up in the job file. When using input fields to set the Mailer ID and/or Sequence Number, you are fully responsible for the uniqueness. 5. A Transaction ID is required for IMpb compliance. It is a unique 12-digit number made up of two parts: a date (year, month, and day) and a four-digit number (YYYYMMDD####. Enter a date in the IDEA Pstg Stmt Mlg Date parameter in the Entry Point Description block. Presort uses this date in the date part of the ID (YYYYMMDD). See "How the Transaction ID is created" in the Presort User Guide for more information. 6. Set up the Address Output File Create block to add the following fields: IMPB_Dest,8,c - Contains the Routing AI and ZIP Code digits of the package barcode. 20

IMPB_PIC,26,c - Contains the Channel AI, Service Type Code, MID, Serial Number and Check Digit. IMPB_Human,32,c - Contains the human readable portion of the IMpb for the address label, includes a space after every 4 digits. 7. Setup the Address Output File Posting block to post these fields.for information about these fields, refer to the Quick Reference for Views and Job File Products Guide. AP.IMPB_Dest AP.IMPB_PIC AP.IMPB_Human 8. Set the following parameters in the Shipping Services File block: Output File Elec. File Num Mailer ID Elec. File Num Serial Num Start Time Of Mailing Elec. File Type The software automatically creates the information required for Intelligent Mail barcode pallet and sack labels for parcels when Create Package Output File and/or Create Container Output File are set to Yes. Including the Destination Delivery Address or Delivery Point Validated (DPV) 11-digit ZIP Code for ALL Parcel mailings To comply with the USPS IMpb requirements, ALL Shipping Services Files must include either the complete Destination Delivery Address or Delivery Point Validated (DPV) 11- digit ZIP Code. If neither of these pieces of information is provided, mail pieces will receive the single piece rate, or not sort at all, depending on the class of mail. The 11-digit DPV ZIP Code consists of the 5-digit ZIP Code, the ZIP+4, and the 2-digit Destination Delivery Point. You must define the following input fields in your DEF file and map them to the appropriate fields: PW.ZIP (ZIP Code field) and PW.ZIP4 (ZIP+4 field), or PW.ZIP10 (field for both ZIP and ZIP+4, including the hyphen) PW.DPBC (Destination Delivery Point field) If the 11-digit ZIP Code is not available, Presort will use the destination delivery address information to populate the Shipping Services File (.manifest) and the Uncoded Parcel Address (UPA) file. You must define PW.AdrSsfUpa in your definition file and map it to the primary address field of your input file in order for the D2 record to be created properly. (For example: PW.AdrSsfUpa=addr_1.) 21

This field must be populated with the destination delivery address when the 11-digit ZIP Code is not present. Presort first looks for the 11-digit ZIP Code to verify that the piece should qualify for presorted prices. If an address does not have an 11-digit ZIP Code, Presort looks at the PW.AdrSsfUpa input field for destination delivery address information. If any information in present in this field, Presort will treat the record as if it has an 11-digit ZIP Code and allow it to qualify for presorted prices. You must create.upa file if the 11-digit ZIP Code is not available. To create a.upa file, set the Create IDEA UPA File (Y/N) to Y in the IDEA Mail.dat block. Mail.dat changes Container Summary Record (.CSM) Added the value of AB for Air Box to the Container Type field Container Quantity Record (.CQT) S will appear in the Barcode Surcharge Indicator field in the CQT when there are First Class Irregular Parcel surcharges. Other changes Presort Job Summary (.PJS) changes For Air Freight Box support: The.PJS will show the maximum number of pieces that can fit into the AFB ("Max Pieces in AFB") and the maximum volume of the AFB ("Max AFB Calculated Vol Cu In"), which is based on the Max AFB Height, Max AFB Width, and Max AFB Depth parameter entries. For uniqueness tracking enhancements: The Job Summary will display three lines each for the pallet, tray/sack, and version (piece) serial numbers: Whether AUTO was specified as the input in the corresponding serial number start parameter The starting serial number The last used serial number Note: If no numbers were used for pallets or sacks/trays, "NONE USED" will be printed. 22

The Job Summary will display two lines for the electronic file numbers: Whether AUTO was specified as the input in the corresponding serial number start parameter The range of serial numbers used (for example, 3-7). For IMpb compliance: Because all parcels require barcodes as of January 25, 2015 to comply with IMpb requirements, the "Parcel is Barcoded" line will no longer appear in the Version and Multi-Piece Parcel areas of the.pjs. Sample tracking database changes Sample databases and the Quikjob3 database have been updated to track Electronic File Numbers. Template changes All templates (except for Custom Market Mail, a_cmm.pst) have been updated for IMb or IMpb as applicable. There is no specific template for an evs job, but you can use any template that is set up for IMpb and change Electronic File Type to 1 in the Shipping Services File block. (evs is an add-on feature which requires a license to use.) In the First Class Parcel template (1_parcel.pst), the Processing Category parameter has been updated to contain 1C IRREGULAR PARCEL as an available option. The parameter value now appears as **1C PARCEL or 1C IRREGULAR PARCEL. Postage statement changes Parcel surcharges will appear on line C6 in Part C - Parcels in the First-Class Package Service section of postage statement PS-3600-FCM. This line will show the number of pieces that received the surcharge and the total postage. New Service Type Codes New Service Type Codes (STCs) have been added to support IMpb: 702: IMpb Standard Mail (non-marketing) 703: IMpb Standard Mail: Marketing Parcels without USPS Tracking 704: IMpb Standard Mail: Marketing Parcels with USPS Tracking See Appendix I of the USPS IMpb Implementation Guide for Confirmation Services and Electronic Verification System (evs) Mailers (Publication 199) for a complete list of STCs. 23

Input and posting field changes The following IMb input and posting fields are now also used for IMpb for parcels: PW.IMB_CRID PW.IMB_MID PW.IMB_Serial AP.IMB_ADR_MI AP.IMB_ADR_SN AP.IMB_PLT AP.IMB_RTAUTO AP.IMB_TRYSCK Removal of "MXD" from Pallet Placards To align with a change made in the DMM to FSS Facility Pallet Preparation and Labeling requirements for PER ( b), STD ( ), and BPM Flats ( ), MXD will no longer appear on the first line of FSS Facility pallet placards. Fixed issues The following issues have been fixed or addressed in this release: Issue number PRSRT-220 PRSRT-1518 PRSRT-1522 PRSRT-1584 Issue description Presort was incorrectly assigning "Basic or non-auto" STID 784 to firm bundles with more than six pieces, and STID 038 to firm bundles with six or fewer pieces. A new, empty sample database for IMb tracking has been added called quikjob3.s3db, for use with sample job #3 only. Both QUIKWIN3.PST and quikunx3.pst sample job files have been updated to point to this new database file (rather than sample_45.s3db). This database file is intended for use with sample job #3 only. It is not intended for use with production jobs. Presort was not tracking 9-digit serial numbers from an input file correctly. The issue causing the following error in Presort Views has been fixed: "Error in opening the file "", as a PER/PSVC Zone Dir" (and other auxiliary files) In some situations, after verifying a job in Presort Views, if the next job to verify required different auxiliary files, Presort would attempt to verify the job using the previous auxiliary files. 24

Issue number PRSRT-1791 PRSRT-1845 Issue description Because Pallet and Sack barcodes are now always required for parcels, the IMpb Use IM Pallet/Sack Barcodes parameter has been removed. FSS bundles were being created that weighed over 20 pounds. 25

USPS Data Path update script The optional patch USPS Data Path update script (USPSDataPath.upd) has been updated to work with 2015 directories. This script is used for populating the Auxiliary Files block parameters so that Presort will select the directories automatically. We highly recommend that you let Presort select the directories automatically and that you run this script for all of your Presort jobs. The script will populate the USPS Presort Data Folder parameter with the path from the ZCF Directory parameter in the first Auxiliary Files block and remove any existing path and filenames from the individual directory filename parameters, leaving them blank. All Auxiliary Files blocks in the job file will be updated even if the block is commented out, so be sure the ZCF Directory parameter in the first Auxiliary Files block contains the correct path. 35

Directory updates When monthly postal directory updates are available, you will receive an with instructions for downloading and installing the updates. It is important to update your postal directories as soon as they are available. The.tgz or.zip files that are available for download contain the following directories: Zip City File (YYMM_zcf.dir) Delivery Statistics File (YYMM_dsf.dir) Zone Directory File (YYMM_zone.dir) Facility directory (YYMM_facility.dir) Mail Direction file (YYMM_maildirect.dir) Labeling lists (YYMM_mpc.dir) Directory release schedule The USPS currently publishes the directories on a monthly basis. The schedule can be found here: Mail Direction files and labeling lists Mail Direction data determines where and when mail pieces are dropped so that you can receive discounts. Labeling lists are used during the processing to group, create, and label bundles, trays, sacks, and pallets at various preparation levels. The USPS updates Mail Direction files and labeling lists each month.you will receive an from Satori Software when the directories have been updated and are available, including instructions for downloading and installing them. Mail Direction files and labeling lists are always included in the monthly U.S. Address Directories. You should download and install the most current U.S. Address Directories each month in order to remain current on all directory files. 36
