This package contains the update to the U.S. directories for Satori Presort 8.00c and ZIPCount 8.00c ( Service Pack 15 or SP15 ). The September 2014 SP15 Directories can only be used with SP15 and later. These directories are not compatible with previous versions of Presort or ZIPCount. PrintForm also uses directory information, but does not access the directory files directly. If you use PrintForm, be sure to install the required directories as shown in Select directories. We have provided some general information about how Presort manages the monthly directory releases at the end of this document. See the Presort User Guide or the Presort 8.00c Release Notes for complete information. The directories included in this release are: Directory Name ZIP-City File (ZCF) directory Mail Processing Center (MPC) directory Zone directory Delivery Statistics File (DSF) directory Facility directory Mail Direction directory Filename 1409_zcf.dir 1409_mpc.dir 1409_zone.dir 1409_dsf.dir 1409_facility.dir 1409_maildirect.dir Applicable mailings All mailings All mailings PER, PSVC BPM, and Parcel Select mailings Walk-sequenced mailings All mailings Purpose Can verify that zip codes are valid. Also used in sorting and labeling of 5 digit containers. Contains information about the service areas of SCFs, ADCs, NDCs, and other facilities, which used for sorting mail and for forms and labels. Used in creating containers and labeling using the USPS labeling lists. Determines the zone "distance" between entry and delivery point. Used for saturation mailings to check the number of stops to determine density was met for the saturation rate. Contains information about USPS drop ship facilities, such as drop site keys, drop site names, and drop site delivery addresses. All mailings Used to determine where mail should be dropped based on when the drop will occur, so that you can receive discounts.

All directories in a given monthly release have the same effective and expiration dates now that the USPS is releasing the directories on a monthly basis. The effective date indicates the first day that the directory can be used. The expiration date indicates the last day that the directory can be used. The effective and expiration dates for the SP15 September 2014 directories are as shown: Effective date Expiration date 01 Sept Oct 2014 The 2014 USPS Labeling List and Mail Direction File Release Schedule is available here: SP15 supports the changes made in the USPS Summer 2014 Major PostalOne! ( September ) release, and is the first release that uses the directories that are released on the new monthly USPS schedule, beginning with the September 2014 directories. The September PostalOne! release will be deployed on Aug 24 and fully implemented on Sept 7. You can use SP15 to process production mail with mail verification dates beginning on August 24. However, for dates from August 24 through September 6, you must use Mail.dat 14-1, because Mail.dat 14-2 cannot be used for mail verification dates prior to September 7. You can use the SP15 September directories with the Presort SP15 release starting as early as September 1. We have also provided the August 2014 data in a format that is compatible with SP15 (in a separate download) in case you want to use SP15 to process production mail with mail verification dates from August 24 August 31 (September directories are not valid for dates in August). Refer to the you received from Satori Support announcing that the release and directories are available for the download link, and see the August SP15 Directory Release Notes for information about those directories. During the transition period of August 8, when Presort SP15 is released, to September 7, when the new release of PostalOne! goes into effect, you can use either version of Presort (SP14 or SP15) according to the following constraints: If the mail verification date is August 23 or before You must use Presort SP14 with the SP14 August directories. If the mail verification date is between August 24 and August 31 You can use Presort SP14 with the SP14 August directories.

You can use Presort SP15 but only if you are using Mail.dat o You must use the SP15 August directories for entry dates in August. o You must use the SP15 August directories if you have multiple entry dates that fall in both August and September. If the mail verification date is between September 1 and September 6 You can use Presort SP14 with the SP14 September directories (you will receive these directories at the end of August). You can use Presort SP15 but only if you are using Mail.dat o You can use the SP15 August or SP15 September directories for entry dates in September. (If you are letting Presort select the directories, Presort will choose the August directories by default.) o You must use the SP15 August directories if you have multiple entry dates that fall in both August and September. If the mail verification date is between September 7 and September 30 You must use Presort SP15 with either the SP15 August or SP15 September directories (and either Mail.dat 14-1 or 14-2). If the mail verification date is after 10/1 You must use Presort SP15 with either the SP15 September or SP15 October directories. And so on. For more information, see Monthly directory management the Satori Presort 8.00c Release Notes Because both SP14 and SP15 can be used during the transition period, we will distribute the directories for August and September for both releases according to this schedule: SP14 The September directories for SP14 will be available around August 31. These will be the last directories for use with SP14. SP15 Both the August and September directories for SP15 will be available around August 8. The October directories for SP15 will be available around September 8.

Download your directory files by following the instructions in the you received from Satori Support announcing that the USPS address directories are available. After you download the monthly directories, place all directories in the appropriate location for the software you are using. The Satori Presort installation program installs the software, but not directories. If you are using WinRAR, follow these instructions to install the directory files on Windows: 1. Locate and double-click <<filename>>.zip file. WinRAR prompts you for the location in which to place the zipped directory file. 2. Browse to the folder where you want WinRAR to place the zipped directory file and click Install. If you are using WinZip, follow these instructions to install the directory files on Windows: 1. Locate and double-click the <<filename>>.zip file. 2. Click Extract. 3. Select the folder where the files will be unzipped. 4. When the unzip process is finished, exit the unzip program. If you use a different tool, refer to the instructions for that tool to extract and install the directory files. To install the directory files on UNIX: 1. Locate the.zip directory file that you want to extract. 2. To extract the.zip to the location where you keep your directories, type unzip -d <<destination path>> <<filename>.zip>

This update includes changes to the labeling lists in the MPC directory. For details about the most recent Labeling Lists, see USPS Postal Bulletin available at l5dgs.tbl The county.txt file is a file provided for your convenience that contains the county code information that is in the ZIP-City File (ZCF) directory (1409_zcf.dir), which can only be read by Presort. When using the Zone directory, printed reports from Presort display the ZAP date information as ZAP-ZC The USPS regularly updates Mail Direction files and Labeling Lists and are included in the monthly Presort directories. Mail Direction data determines where and when mail pieces are dropped so that you can receive discounts. Mail Direction directories include the following: Directory 1409_facility.dir 1409_maildirect.dir Description Contains information about USPS drop ship facilities, such as drop site keys, drop site names, and drop site delivery addresses. Contains information about where and when mail pieces should be dropped in order to receive discounts on the basis of class and shape. Labeling Lists are used during the processing to group, create, and label bundles, trays, sacks, and pallets at various preparation levels. An Edjob patch script has been included with the Presort directory files that contain single occurrences of ZIP+4 facility changes or single occurrences of drop site key mapping changes (<x>: \windows\sep14_md.upd or \unix\sep14_md.upd). Only these types of changes are updated in the Entry Point blocks with this script.

However, there may be other changes to entry points that are not included in the update script. You will need to monitor these yourself and manually edit your job files as appropriate. For instructions on running Edjob, see the Edjob User's Guide. Use the table below to determine which files you need to install for the programs you own. Directory Presort PrintForm ZIPCount 1409_zcf.dir 1409_dsf.dir 1 X 1409_zone.dir X 1409_maildirect.dir X X X 1409_facility.dir X X X 1409_mpc.dir X X X 1. Install the dsf.dir directory if you use Walk Sequence Saturation.

The USPS is now releasing directories on a monthly basis. This section serves as an overview of how Presort 8.00c manages the monthly directory releases. Complete information is available in the Presort User Guide and the Presort 8.00c Release Notes. We hosted a webinar on July 30, 2014, titled Satori Presort: New SP15 Release Overview that discussed the upcoming changes in Presort 8.00c.15.00, with special emphasis on how Presort will manage the new monthly directory releases. We also hosted a webinar on June 23, 2014, titled How Will the New Presort Data Update Schedule Impact Your Business? This webinar discussed at a high-level the upcoming changes to the directory releases that was not product-specific. Currently, the mail verification date is used to determine validity of the directory data set. With the November 2014 PostalOne! release, validity of a data set will be determined by the actual mail induction date, which is the date that the Postal Service takes control of the mailing. In Presort, the mail induction date is referred to as the estimated drop date. For mailers who drop ship, the estimated drop (mail induction) date is the day the mailing is unloaded from the truck at the Postal Service entry facility. The mail verification date is the date that the USPS verifies and accepts the mailing, which happens after the estimated drop (mail induction) date. For mailers who do not drop ship, the mail verification and estimated drop (mail induction) dates are the same. This change should not affect mailers who do not drop ship. Directories will have a three-month lifecycle, comprised of three phases: Notification, Active, and Outgoing. Directories are valid for mailings with estimated drop dates that fall in the Active phase or Outgoing phase for that directory release, which are during the second and third months of the lifecycle. 1. Notification phase During the first month, the directories will be available around the second week of the month so you can review the upcoming changes and plan for mailings with estimated drop dates that fall within the next two months. The directories cannot be used for estimated drop dates in that month.

2. Active phase During the second month, the directories become effective on the first day of the month and are valid to use for mailings with estimated drop dates in that month and the next month. This is the preferred directory set to use for mailing dates that fall within that month. 3. Outgoing phase During the third month, the directories are valid to use only for estimate drop dates in that month and expire at the end of that month. There is a newer set of data files in a different release that are in active phase, but files in the outgoing phase are acceptable to use for mailings with estimated drop dates in that month. The following example demonstrates the lifecycle for USPS Release 5 (as indicated in the 2014 USPS Labeling List and Mail Direction File Release Schedule), also referred to as the "September directories." These directories can only be used for estimated drop dates that fall in September and October. The filename structure for each of the September directories will be 1409_<directory>.dir. (See New filename structure for information about the new directory filename structure.) In August, the "September directories" in Release 5 are in the Notification phase and cannot be used for estimated drop dates in August. They can be used for estimated drop dates in September and October. In September, the "September directories" in Release 5 are in the Active phase and the directories can be used for estimated drop dates in September and October. In October, the "September directories" in Release 5 are in the Outgoing phase and the directories can still be used for estimated drop dates in October. In November, the "September directories" in Release 5 cannot be used because they will be expired by October 31. Either the "October directories" in Release 6 (1410_<directory>.dir) or "November directories" in Release 7 (1411_<directory>.dir) can be used for estimated drop dates that fall in November.

Both the Presort and ZIPCount Auxiliary Files blocks will be updated in their respective job files. There will be a new filename structure for the directory files, which includes the year and month that the directory becomes effective: YYMM_<directory>.dir. The names of the individual directory file parameters in both the Presort and ZIPCount jobfiles will be updated with the new filename structure. The Presort Auxiliary Files block will be updated with a new parameter called USPS Presort Data Folder that is used to specify the path to the folder where the directories are stored. The updated parameters in the Presort Auxiliary Files block are shown here: BEGIN Auxiliary Files ========================================= USPS Presort Data Folder (See Note).. = ZCF Directory ([path]yymm_zcf.dir)... = Mail Proc Ctr Dir([path]YYMM_mpc.dir) = PER/PSVC Zone Dir([path]YYMM_zone.dir)= PER/STD Del Stats([path]YYMM_dsf.dir) = MailDirect.([path]YYMM_facility.dir). = MailDirect.([path]YYMM_maildirect.dir)= Default Format (path & file.fmt)... = Default DEF (path & file.def)... = END

The parameters in the ZIPCount Auxiliary Files block will be updated to reflect the new filename structure, and are shown here: BEGIN Auxiliary Files ========================================= Mail Proc Ctr Dir (Location & YYMM_mpc.dir)... = Mail Direction (Location & YYMM_facility.dir). = Mail Direction (Location & YYMM_maildirect.dir) = Default ASCII FMT File (Location & <file>.fmt). = END Presort will be able to automatically select directories to use, but you will also be able to specify the directories yourself. We recommend letting Presort select the directories, however specifying them yourself is the default behavior. ZIPCount will not be able to select the directories automatically. You will have to specify the directories yourself. When Presort selects the directories, the Active directory set will generally be used by default, but if it is not available, the Outgoing directories for the previous month will be used. If there is no directory set available for your estimated drop date(s), you will be notified. When selecting the directories yourself in Presort and ZIPCount, we generally recommend using the Active directories. However, in some cases, a different directory may or should be used if you have: Multiple estimated drop dates Estimated drop dates that span two consecutive months Estimated drop dates that fall in the first week of the month More information about how to select the right directories for these and other scenarios will be provided in the Presort SP15 documentation. In the Presort Auxiliary Files block, enter the location of the directories into the USPS Presort Data Folder parameter and leave the individual directory file parameters blank. We recommend letting Presort select the directories automatically to ensure that the correct directories will always be used for your mailing. You do not need to change the individual directory file parameter entries each time you run your job at a later date; you will just need to make sure that the path name in the USPS Presort Data Folder parameter is correct and that the current directories are located in that folder.

You use the same parameters in the Presort Auxiliary Files block to specify the directories yourself, but populate them differently. If you choose to select the directories yourself, keep in mind that you will have to make the appropriate changes in the jobfile each time you want to use different directories. How you specify the directories to use depends on where they are located: If the directories you want to use are all located in the same folder, enter the pathname of the folder that contains the directories into the USPS Presort Data Folder parameter, and specify the appropriate filename with no path (YYMM_<directory>.dir) in the individual directory file parameters. If the directories you want to use are located in different folders, specify the appropriate full path and filename of the directory ([path]yymm_<directory>.dir) in the individual directory file parameters. Leave the USPS Presort Data Folder parameter blank. ZIPCount will not be able to select the directories automatically. You must specify the directories to use yourself in the ZIPCount Auxiliary Files block. Enter the full path and filename of the directory (Location & YYMM_<directory>.dir) in the individual directory file parameters.
