1 MOODLE QUICK START Dignity for All Students Act 3 Hour Online Certification Training This is part one of a two-part blended learning training which is comprised of a total of six instructional hours; three hours to be completed online and three hours to be completed in a face to face, in-person training. I. Logging in or Creating an Account in Ulster BOCES Learning Network s Moodle: Open a browser (Internet Explorer is most compatible) In the address bar, type in LOGIN with your password and user name on the left OR create a new account. If you are a new user, please create your account by clicking on the Create new account button on the right side of the page. 1. Enter the information in the required fields (red *): (1) create your own username and password; (2) enter your address (2 times), First name, Last name, City/town and Country; (3) Click the Create My New Account button at the bottom of the page. 2. An will be sent to the address you provided. Before you can continue, please check that account for a new with the subject of: Ulster BOCES Learning Network: account confirmation o This will provide the link you will need to click on to verify your new account. **If you do not see an in your inbox, please check your Junk or Spam Mail folders in case the was automatically sent there** Once you verify your account, you can continue to login to the Learning Network. 1

2 II. Enrolling in Dignity for All Students Act 3 Hour Online Certification Training: 1. Login to the Learning Network with your username and password. 2. On the HOME screen, click on the INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES computer icon on the left. 3. On the INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES screen click on the Center For School Safety computer icon on the left of the top row. 4. Click on the title Dignity for All Students Act - 3 Hour Online Certification Training: a. First time users will enter the Enrollment Key b. Previous enrollees will be taken directly to the class. 2

3 5. You will now be prompted to enter an Enrolment KEY. ***The enrollment key is: safety1st *** 6. Click the Enrol Me button and you are now enrolled in the course. 3

4 III. Coursework for Dignity for All Students Act- Completing the Modules: 1. Please view either the PowerPoint (pps) OR the Adobe PDF (pdf) presentations within each module. If needed use the links provided to download the proper viewer to view either the pps or pdf versions. 2. Some modules will have more than one part. Be sure to view all parts of each module. 3. Modules may also contain video. Please watch the videos within each module. 4. Use the Check for Understanding quiz within each module to ensure that you have attained the intended knowledge from each section before proceeding onto the next module. 5. Complete the Final Test after you have completed all four (4) modules. You must get at least an 80% to pass. If you do not reach 80%, you may retake the test as many times as you like. In the Navigation block on the right you can click on My home page to see your courses. 2. Click on the course title you d like to open under My Courses. 4

5 What am I looking at in my Learning Network course? 1. Breadcrumbs: Located in the upper left and going across your screen. Breadcrumbs show where you are in the site and provide hyperlinks to navigate back to previously viewed pages. 2. Blocks: Blocks appear in the two right hand columns and contain groups of settings, such as the Navigation block and the Administration block. 3. Course content: Course content is located on the left in the widest column. 5

6 How do I edit my profile? In the ADMINISTRATION block, click on the My profile settings folder to expand your options. Choose Edit profile. You can add a picture and other details. Be sure to click Update profile at the bottom of the page to save your profile. How can I see my grades? 1. In the ADMINISTRATION block, click Grades under the Course administration folder. 2. The User report displays grades for completed assignments. You must get a grade of 80% or better on the FINAL TEST to pass the Dignity Act Online Certification Training. 6
