4 I n t r oduction LexisNexis Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) is an automated method of verifying a person's driving history The MVR contains your order information, individual driver information, and driving history This document is designed to help you understand the report We have illustrated each section of the report and provided essential definitions and descriptions R e p ort Header Section The Report Header section includes information that identifies your specific report Report Header Section Report Header Field s Report Header Field Order Date Complete Date Case ID Quoteback Account Node/Location User ID Special Billing ID Date and time that the order was placed Date and time that the order was completed Unique identifier of the report submitted by the requester Case ID is on the report twice Unique identifier of the report submitted by the requester Requester's LexisNexis account number Unique, LexisNexis-assigned identifier for your business location Requester's LexisNexis user identification Alphanumeric field that may be submitted by you or programmatically set up by LexisNexis This is an option that must be set up with your customer manager 4

5 Report Header Field s (Continued) Report Header Field Reference Number Processing Status Inquiry Options Not currently used for MVR Current status of the report Possible values: Activity File Clear Hit - Activity Found Invalid Order Not Hit Pending MVR Soundex Reject Unreturned MVR See "MVR Processing Statuses" on page 6 for detailed descriptions This section shows the options you selected when ordering the report These options are all used to override options you selected when setting up your account MVR Type If the order state is a state other than those listed below, this field should be blank The contents of this field will vary in the following states for the type of record being requested Oregon Court Blank (indicates Driver) Driver Washington Commercial Life Non-commercial Blank (indicates noncommercial) New Hampshire Life Insurance Soundexing Specifies whether the order should attempt to generate valid driver license numbers using rules for specific states Possible values: Yes, No, or blank Amplified Specifies whether the order should return an expanded seven years of results instead of the standard three years This option is only available for Florida and Georgia Possible values: YesNo, or blank Forced DMV Specifies whether the order will override any account options with regard to database searches and forward the order to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) Possible values: Yes, No, or blank 5

6 MVR Processing Statuses You receive a processing status for your order regardless of what events occurred during the processing of that report The following table describes the possible processing statuses Processing Status s Processing Status Clear Hit - Activity Found Invalid Order No Hit Pending MVR Renewal Clear Soundex Reject Unreturned MVR There is no activity in the driving history section The driver has not been issued any tickets for driving infractions There is activity in the driving history section The driver has received tickets for driving infractions The order failed in editing The information submitted in the order was in the wrong format or required information was missing It was not sent to the DMV The DMV returned a not found indication in response to the order The information on the order did not match any record in the state's database Either the driver is not licensed in the state, or incorrect information was submitted on the order The DMV responded by indicating another response would be forthcoming The order wasd processed within the LexisNexis infrastructure and activity was not found during the requested search period for Activity Files, or meet the recommended threshold for a 20 request This order will not go to the state for an MVR For soundexing states, the order was rejected because the required soundexing elements were not available The DMV did not respond to the order P r o c essing Characteristics The Processing Characteristics section contains information about how the order was processed Processing Characteristics Section 6

7 The following table describes the fields in the Processing Characteristics section: Processing Characteristic Field s Processing Characteristic Field Processing Date Order Date Processing Status Processing Information Origin Source Date that the order was processed Under some circumstances, the processing date may be earlier than the order date In the previous example, the results source is Duplicate Order Check File, which means that the order was processed as the result of a previous order by a customer in the same line of business Date and time that the order was placed Processing status of the report Possible values: Clear Hit - Activity Found Not Hit Invalid Order Pending MVR Activity File Soundex Reject Unreturned MVR See "MVR Processing Statuses" on page 6 for detailed descriptions The processing information includes information about the origin and source of the information in the report The original source of the information in the report Possible values: DMV Internal Database File DHDB20 Renewal DHDB 20 The source for the current version of the report Possible values are: DMV Driver History Database Duplicate Order Check File Internal Database File DHDB 20 Renewal DHDB 20 7

8 D r i v er License Information Section The Driver License Information section contains information about the subject's driver license from the state DMV Driver License Information Section The following table describes the fields shown in the Driver License Information section Driver License Field s Driver License Field State Class Issued Date Expiration Date Status Restrictions Issuing state of the subject's driver license Class of the subject's driver license See the LexisNexis Motor Vehicle Record License Class documentation for more information Date that the subject's driver license was issued Date that the subject's driver license expires Status of the subject's driver license See the LexisNexis Motor Vehicle Record License Status and LexisNexis Motor Vehicle Record Standardized License documentation for more information Restrictions on the subject's driver license D r i v i ng Record Section The following examples show several types of violations and the information that may be returned with each type On the report, the violations are numbered and presented in ascending date order This section does not appear if there are no results found for the subject 8

10 The following table describes the fields that could return in the Driving Record section of the report You will only receive LexisNexis SVC (Standard Violation Code) information if your account is set up to receive SVC information Contact your customer manager for more information Driving Record Field s Type Field Conviction Date Violation Date Suspension Date Reinstatement Date The type of incident Possible values and definitions are: ACCI - Accident CANC - License cancelled CONV - Conviction DEPT - Departmental Action DISQ - Disqualification F/R - Financial Responsibility MISC - Miscellaneous Date that the conviction occurred Date that the incident occurred Date that the driver license was suspended Date that the driver license was reinstated PROB - Probation REIN - License reinstated REVO - Revocation SUSP - License suspended UNCL - Unclassified VIOL - Violation WARN - Warning The preceding four date fields return based on the type of incident For example, a type of SUSP has a suspension date and a reinstatement date, while a type of ACCI has a violation date and conviction date State Violation Code Violation code assigned by the state Not all states return violation codes California and Colorado may return multiple violation codes for the same event Points Customer Specific Code Violation Severity Code Driving Record Standard Violation Code Number of points associated with the incident based on state-provided information Points can be expressed as whole numbers, decimals, or text California and Colorado may return a total number of points for all violations associated with the same event Unique code that you use to identify the violation The CSC (customer specific code) values are assigned by you to SVCs Severity of the incident reported, according to the SVC Incident description reported on the subject's driving record, as specified by the DMV SVC assigned to the incident See the LexisNexis MVR Standard Violation Code (SVC) Information 10

12 M i s c ellaneous and State Specific S e c t ion This section includes state information and other information from LexisNexis Multiple messages may return in this section of the report Miscellaneous and State Specific Section State Information If the state includes additional information, the information will appear in this section Information included in this section may include: Endorsements License information Point information Restrictions State disclaimers Examples of disclaimers from states include: No violations or departmental actions during this reporting period No medical or departmental actions during this reporting period No accidents during this reporting period Accidents noted on this document shall not be considered determinative of fault or negligence on the part of the individual LexisNexis Messages LexisNexis may send messages regarding the details of the driving record details Messages may indicate where the information was found and/or when the information was last updated 12

13 Examples of messages from LexisNexis are: The driver record information contained in this report was obtained from the above state on date Obtained from retention file Information obtained from CPS Database last updated thru date ****Restricted information The restricted message appears if the subject has restricted personal identification information from being released Error Messages If an error occurs during processing, an error message appears in this section of the report In the case of an error, you will not receive results other than the error message If the error message begins with APP ERROR or COMM ERROR, a communication error occurred before your order was processed In this case, you should try submitting your order at another time If the error message is any other type, please contact MVR support by phone at or at InsuranceSolutionsSupport@lexisnexisriskcom 13
