2 MARCH 2018 NEWSLETTER Carrie from the Village of Beckemeyer had an interesting question that she would like us to address. Her question is: How do estimated water bills work? If I estimate, will I have to go back in and manually enter each reading the next month? Estimating Reads There are two options when it comes to estimating reads. If you re going to be estimating for several accounts the best option is under Utility Billing Regular Bill Process. Scroll down and select Meter Read Estimating (UMES). Here you can either estimate for a range of accounts or a range of routes. Next, the service in which you want to estimate. Then set your dates for when you would want to base the estimate from. For example, if you have June 2017 in both selections, the estimate will be based on the read for June. On the bottom of the program there is a check box to not estimate accounts in which there is already consumption. This option is very important. If you have any reads in the rate tab, these will be overwritten if the box is not checked. You can also estimate individual accounts by going to Account Master (UM), select the account you want to estimate and then select the rate tab.

3 MARCH 2018 NEWSLETTER Now, if you double click on a rate to the right there is an option to estimate. Simply click the estimate button and you ll be asked if the consumption amount is correct.

Apparently, he did not heed this warning strong enough as he was stabbed by Marcus Brutus on the Ides of March in 44 B.C. March 17th is Saint Patrick s day in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland, who brought Christianity to the Emerald Isles, as Ireland is known as now. Saint Patrick s Day has many symbols and traditions, from shamrocks and leprechauns to green beer and Corned Beef and Cabbage. And now on a more somber note-march 22nd is NATIONAL GOOF-OFF DAY. Relax, take a break, play hooky-or just goof off in your own quiet way at your desk.

Answer: Without seeing the exact details it is hard to say, but we have seen in the past where someone is trying to use the same period last year and there is no history for that account. Also, if the combine factor was added later and wasn t there back in the history, these things will cause the readings to look strange.
