1 There are a couple options for getting to the internet advancement site. Option 1: Option 2: (I was not able to locate anything through the Option 3: Do a google search on BSA Online Advancement Using option 1, under the Program, Youth Advancement you will find the link to the online internet advancement or type in youth advancement under search option April 2015 Page 1
2 Using option 2, you ll go through your myscouting page. If you ve done your Youth Protection Online then you should have access to this site. After you ve logged into your myscouting site, then on the left about half way down you find a link to Internet Advancement. I ll also note below that link is another link that will take you to the site to enter Service Hours April 2015 Page 2
3 Once you entered the Online Internet Advancement site, you are presented with several things which I ll discuss below. You have access to the Advancement Forms. I recommend using these for Rank Advancement, so you can get the required Board of Review Signatures Advancement Forms April 2015 Page 3
4 Unit Advancement Report by First Time User First time users will need to register. You ll need your Unit ID and Unit Number. Your Unit ID can be obtained from your District Executive. April 2015 Page 4
5 Returning User If someone from your Unit has already registered, then you are a returning user and will need to know the password setup during registration. If you forgot the password or do not know, then you need to know of person who set up the registration for internet advancement. You do not know that then you ll have to call council and have them reset your unit profile (This information is in the Frequently Asked Questions link at top right of the main page) April 2015 Page 5
6 You ve successfully made it into the Internet Advancement page for your unit. Continue to the next page to load your unit s roster You are given two options to load your roster. Load Roster this loads the current roster the council has on file. Using this option will require you to manually enter Rank, Merit Badge or Award updates. Upload Advancement File This allows you to upload updates directly from one of the software packages mentioned. I have a small Troop and use the manual update option, so I will not discuss this option April 2015 Page 6
7 Load Roster option will load you current roster. (I ve blanked out the scout s names and addresses) The Unit Advancement Summary report will give you a full list of all Ranks and Merit Badges earned by each scout on the unit roster. This is want is currently entered into the system. This is a good tool to audit against to make sure nothing is missing. Real valuable when a scout is getting is Eagle. Saves a lot of time. Rank To update the Rank just click on Rank on the scout you want to update and enter the date the Rank was achieved. It will allow you to update the date at any time if you make a mistake even after you submit it to council. But once you submit to council you can not delete a rank update. You will have to contact council to delete the update. Click Save to save the updates. You will be returned to the roster screen April 2015 Page 7
8 Merit Badges To update the Merit Badge just click on Merit Badges on the scout you want to update and enter the date the Merit Badges were completed. It will allow you to update the date at any time if you make a mistake even after you submit it to council. But once you submit to council you can not delete a Merit Badge update. You will have to contact council to delete the update. Click Save to save the updates. You will be returned to the roster screen Awards To update an Award just click on Awards on the scout you want to update and enter the date the Award was completed. It will allow you to update the date at any time if you make a mistake even after you submit it to council. But once you submit to council you can not delete an Award update. You will have to contact council to delete the update. Click Save to save the updates. You will be returned to the roster screen. I ve never entered an Award so not sure want paperwork is created April 2015 Page 8
9 Once you ve made all your updates. Click on the next button. The next screen gives you the option to review the advancement report before submitting it to council (this is only a draft version of the report). Once you ve submitting your report to council you ll be given an opportunity to print a final advancement report to take into council. So you have two options if you used the unit advancement form for rank advancement and have all the signatures from a board of review you don t need to print the online advance report. Multiple Person Entry There is an option to do multiple Merit Badge and Award updates updates if more than one scout earned the same Merit Badge or Award. This option is found in the top right side of the Roster screen. Select Merit Badge and click continue. April 2015 Page 9
