2 Excel/True North Logic Login Screen: Part One- Registering for a Course Lake County School Employees can login to Excel/True North Logic from the quick link on the Lake County Schools website or type the following into their internet browser: Your initial login is your last name first initial (your LCS login for your computer network account) Your initial password is your EIN (employee identification number). Remember, if you had an evaluation last year; you used this system for your observation and evaluation. So you may have changed your Password. If you are not sure of your password or have forgotten your password, the TNL administrator at: TNLadmin@lake.k12.fl.us to receive your login information. Excel/TNL Manual Page 2

3 Excel/TNL Home Screen: When you login to the home screen you will see a number of tabs across the top of the screen depending upon your access level. We will be dealing with the Professional Development Tab and the Calendar view. The Home Page contains announcements (targeted to your position title with LCS). It will also have coming events and past events placed within the Excel/TNL system. When looking for Professional Development, you have two ways in which to search the system for available courses. 4 Using the Professional Development Tab: Option 1. : Use the Professional Development Tab located along the top of the screen next to Evaluation. When you click on the PD tab, your screen will reveal a search engine for courses. My Courses: Notice the clickable My Courses and View My Transcript boxes at the top. Here you can view the courses for which you are currently enrolled. The View My Transcript is not active at this time. (All transcript information is stored on the Employee Resources website under Self Services.) Course Search: The PD tab allows for searching the PD database of courses being offered that have been released for registration. Courses can be targeted to the district, school or position for which the training is intended, so your list may not contain the same courses available to someone at another site or in a different position. 5 Search by Competency: Excel/TNL will also allow you to search the PD database by specific Competencies as related to our evaluation model. Under the TEAM Classroom tab you will find the four domain areas. Clicking on the + plus button will reveal the elements as indicated in our evaluation model. Clicking again will collapse the section. Clicking on the Explore button will launch a search for courses aligned to the selected competency. Under the LEADS tab you will find similar alignments to the competencies associated with LEADS. Excel/TNL Manual Page 5

6 Search Results: When you have launched any search, the results will be displayed in a list format. If you click on the course title, it will reveal the information on the course and any sections (sessions) when the course is being offered. Course Registration: Register button. Now that you have found your course, to register for the course, click on the Excel/TNL Manual Page 6

7 This screen shows the progress and allows for confirmation of the course. To confirm, click on Next and a confirmation screen will appear and an will be sent to your LCS address with your registration confirmation. Successful Registration: You have now successfully registered for a course on the Excel/TNL System. To view your registered course, click on My Courses from the Professional Development Tab. 8 Course Withdrawal: Clicking on the My Courses tab will reveal the registered courses. Clicking on the Actions button will give you the option to view the roster or to withdraw. You will be given the opportunity to confirm Withdraw or cancel withdraw request on the next screen. When you withdraw, an will be sent to the address on file confirming your course withdrawal. 9 Option Two: Calendar View From the home screen, click on the Month View located under the calendar to the right of your screen. This will reveal the monthly calendar. It is color coded with a filter to show more or less of the available courses in the district. Yellow shows all district targeted courses while the green shows the course for which you are enrolled or teaching. Clicking on the title will offer additional information of the course and reveal the Register tab. Click on the Register tab to register for the course. Then click Next to confirm.
