3 Verse Offline Overview Initial GA in March 2016 Lightweight, browser-based solution for offline access to Verse Complement to Verse online experience Major browsers are supported (Chrome, FireFox, IE, Safari) No browser plugin, no TCO increase Sync 7 days of mail in all folders, 7 days of preceding calendar events, and 30 days of future events Common mail operations are supported 2016 IBM Corporation 3

5 Offline Architecture Application Cache Application code cached and updated by the browser leveraging HTML 5 offline application cache. User Data Storage Leverages browser managed data storage (IndexedDB). Content is encrypted using a user-specific encryption key generated by SCN. Sync Mechanism Leverages existing change mechanisms of Domino/NSF replication to determine what to sync down. Operations made while offline are Played Back to the service when connection is available IBM Corporation 5

6 Offline UX and Features Offline Enablement Company needs to be enabled for offline Requires Admin to enable before Setup Option is displayed. User will see an option to setup Offline 2016 IBM Corporation 6

7 Offline UX and Features Offline Setup User must choose a password for accessing offline content. Password is not related to SCN Password The password does not expire. Password strength generally follows SCN requirements. User should make sure to bookmark Verse with their browser Required when the user needs to launch the browser to access Verse offline. 8 Offline UX and Features Offline Setup Client now goes through initial setup process Initial download is of Application code for Verse Mail data follows with progress indicators Confirmation when offline set up is complete Option to Work Offline now available in menu User can see last time sync occurred and force a refresh. This is per browser setup, so if the user wants to work offline with different browsers they will need to set each one up individually IBM Corporation 8

9 Offline UX and Features Offline Settings Enables user to reset local data store password, without requiring to setup again. Password reset, requires user to be in online mode and have connectivity to SCN. User can control whether to sync when network connection is available, plus choose when to send messages. Messages can be sent immediately or when each sync occurs. Alternatively user can just work offline and then send and update once switch back to online. User can remove local data store at any time IBM Corporation 9

10 Offline UX and Features Working Offline The user can choose to Work Offline with and without network connection to SCN. They will need to enter their offline password to access their offline content. If still connected sync will continue to occur in the background. Feature set for offline is a reduced feature set from online, main differences: Users do not have access to attachments or images for incoming mail and cannot send s with attachments. Users cannot search for content, they can filter messages using their Important to me people bubbles and Needs Action/Waiting For options. Mail threads are not available. Items not available are either greyed out or hidden IBM Corporation 10

11 Offline Future Features Enhancements Being Considered: Display abstract field in offline mode Filter by unread and other filtering options in offline mode Reply/forward with attachments in offline mode Sync more than 7 days of mail, and also inline images & attachments 2016 IBM Corporation 11

12 Offline Troubleshooting 1. Try a different browser to narrow the scope of the problem. 2. Offline setup problems: No Setup option shown: make sure company is configured for offline, then refresh browser. Not able to setup offline: make sure browser is configured to support offline content (e.g. not in-privacy mode). 3. Offline setup successfully but no longer able to Work Offline Clear offline data and re-run offline setup. 4. Sync problems: Sync failed since browser storage quota has been exceeded: check free disk space or browser storage quota. Missing mail(s) after sync: send sample document(s) to support IBM Corporation 12
