3 What is IBM Client Application Access? Formerly known as IBM Notes Browser Plugin Is a "Stand-alone application" for both Windows & Mac and the "Inside browser mode" was removed as of ICAA Works with IBM Smart Cloud Notes Web and IBM Verse for Smart Cloud customers while it works with inotes for on-premises users Allows inotes/verse users to access Domino Applications without using the full IBM Notes client 3

Leverage investments in custom applications and deliver them unmodified via IBM Client Application Access Lower resource consumption on the workstation Requires no retraining for users, and saves your organization from costs associated with rewriting existing applications Offers a simple, quicker installation and setup at less than 80 MB 4

9 Supported Domino Configurations Domino version 9.0 or later version is recommended so that you can take advantage of the latest enhancements. However, applications on older IBM Domino server versions, for example, 8.0.x and 8.5.x are still supported. 9

11 Installation on Windows Procedure To install ICAA, run setup.exe from the installation location your administrator provided. Results By default, the ICAA program files are installed to: C:\Program Files(x86)\IBM\ICAA The ICAA data directory is created at : Multi-user: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\IBM\Notes\Data If you have a Single-user Notes 9.x or later client installed, Single-user: C:\Program Files(x86)\IBM\ICAA\Data ICAA uses the Notes client data directory rather than the ICAA data directory Note: To use Notes applications that require a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), make sure that a JVM is installed and that ICAA is configured to use it. 11

12 Installing and configuring a JVM ICAA automatically recognizes and uses an Oracle JVM release 1.6 or later. It only supports a 32-bit JVM. If an earlier version of an Oracle JVM or a JVM from a different company is used, follow the steps below. Steps to enable ICAA: 1. To test whether Oracle JVM version 1.6 or later is installed, enter the following command at the command prompt: java-version Note: If Oracle JVM 1.6 or later is installed, skip the rest of this procedure. 2. Open the ICAA NOTES.INI file, which is in C:\Program Files(x86)\IBM\ICAA, by default. 3. Add the setting JVMDirectoryLocation= and specify the location of the JVM on the computer. The typical location is C:\Program Files (x86)\java\jre8. 4. Add the setting JavaOracleVM= and specify one of the following values: If you use an Oracle JVM, specify 1. If you use a JVM from a different company, specify 0. 12

13 Silent install options Users can push silent installation using the command line parameter: setup.exe -s -a -s /v"setmultiuser=1 PROGDIR=\\"%s\\" /qn -s -a -s parameters are required 13

14 Installation on Citrix Example Command line install parameter: setup.exe -s -a /v"setmultiuser=1 MULTIUSERBASEDIR=C:\temp\!USERNAME! MULTIUSERCOMMONDIR=C:\temp\Common CITRIX=1" CITRIX=1 Makes the MSI Terminal Services aware, and places the notes.ini in the correct location, and sets the Multi-user registry keys to the appropriate values. SETMULTIUSER=1 Sets the MSI's table value MULTIUSER to the value of 1, and will perform a multi-user install. This parameter was introduced in Lotus Notes MULTIUSERBASEDIR=<path> Indicates the path where the user's data directory will be stored. MULTIUSERCOMMONDIR=<path> Specifies the location of the templates, help files, modem files, etc, and the SharedDataDirectory= path in the notes.ini. 14

15 Installation on Mac OS The installation requires administrator account access to your computer. By default, this is the multi-user installation To install it you simply need to run IBM Client Application Access Installer.pkg and accept the License agreement. The remainder of the installation is done in the default path as follows: Program Directory: /Applications/IBM Client Application Access Data Directory: /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/IBM Notes Data Notes Preferences location: /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Preferences If you have an IBM Notes client installed, ICAA uses the existing Notes client data directory and Notes Preferences file. 15

16 Silent install for Mac OS Example Command line install parameter: sudo installer -pkg IBM\Client\Application\Access\Installer.pkg -target / The default Data directory path of IBM Client Application Access cannot be changed. 16

17 Configuration ICAA can connect to both On_Prem and Cloud servers. On launch the users are presented with a dialog box with Cloud selected. For Hosted users enter your name and click I am an IBM SmartCloud user but do not check I have an IBM notes id file. Click Next and finish the configuration. Once ICAA is opened you will be prompted to download the Config.nsf 17

18 Configuring ICAA (New hybrid user) Enter your user name Ensure that "I am an IBM SmartCloud user" and the " I have a Notes ID file "option is checked. Configuration message will be displayed Select the Notes ID file from the dialog, and click Open Enter your Notes password, and click Log In 18

19 Configuration If you are an On-Prem user you need to untick the Cloud User check box and you will be presented with the configuration screens similar to the Notes client. Enter your User name and Domino Server to continue. 19

20 Upgrade to the latest release Upgrading with the Auto Update Service on Windows (cloud users) If you are a cloud user with ICAA currently installed, upgrades occur automatically through the Auto Update Service. On-Premises Later version and Fix Packs can be installed using the normal windows installer. The procedure for Auto upgrade is different for Windows and Mac. 20

21 Upgrade to the latest release Windows Procedure When you use ICAA and there is an update available, you see the following message: An upgrade is available for IBM Client Application Access. Would you like to download it now? To download the update, click Yes. After the download is complete, you see the following message: Would you like to complete the upgrade now? If you select Yes, please close the application for the installation to continue. a. Close ICAA and your browser. b. To upgrade, click Yes. 21

22 Auto update for Cloud on Mac OS 1.When a new version is downloaded on Mac OS, you see the following message. Click Yes to begin the upgrade. If IBM Client Application Access is running, you see the following message. Click Close Application and Install to begin the upgrade. 22
