Tips and Tricks PowerPoint Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Hassle-Free Presenter View Concepts Presenter View allows you to see your notes on your monitor while the audience only sees the slide. In previous releases, it was difficult to figure out who saw what on which monitor. The improved Presenter View fixes that headache and makes it simpler to work with. Zoom in on a slide Click the magnifying glass to zoom in on charts, diagrams, or whatever you want to emphasize for your audience. Jump to a slide Use Slide Navigator to browse to other slides in the presentation. Automatic set up PowerPoint can automatically sense your computer setup and choose the right monitor for Presenter view. Steps You may have had a problem setting up Presenter View in the past but it s vastly improved in PowerPoint Just connect the monitors and PowerPoint automatically sets it up. In Presenter View, you can see your notes as you present, while the audience sees only your slides. Open the file Practice 1.pptx from your exercise files folder. Page 4 COMAT Training Services

Tips and Tricks PowerPoint Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Note When PowerPoint is unable to automatically scale your content, it will prompt you with two options: Maximize Select this option to increase the size of your slide content when you are scaling to a larger slide size. Choosing this option could result in your content not fitting on the slide. Ensure Fit Select this option to decrease the size of your content when scaling to a smaller slide size. This could make your content appear smaller, but you ll be able to see all content on your slide. Note: You can also change your slide size to a custom dimension. To do this, on the Design tab, click Slide Size, and then click Custom Slide Size. In the Slide Size box, set the height and width dimensions, and the orientation. Set 4:3 aspect ratio as the default size for your slides If you want to continue to use the 4:3 aspect ratio, you can set it as your default slide size. 1. With the 4:3 aspect ratio applied to your slides, on the Design tab, in the Themes group, click More, then click Save Current Theme. 2. In the File name box, enter the name of the theme, and then click Save. Page 8 COMAT Training Services
Microsoft PowerPoint Right-click the saved theme, and then pick Set as Default Theme. Tips and Tricks PowerPoint Save the presentation as Practice 5.pptx. Close the file. Applying Artistic Effects for Your Picture Concepts The Artistic Effects command in the Adjust group allows you to add artistic effects such as pastels, watercolors, glowing edges and more. It is important to note that artistic effects will not work with some clip art images. Steps To apply an artistic effect: Display slide 1, if necessary. COMAT Training Services Page 9
Tips and Tricks PowerPoint Microsoft PowerPoint Select the picture you want to apply with an artistic effect. The picture is selected and the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT contextual tab is displayed. 2. Select the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT contextual tab. The FORMAT tab is displayed. Click on the picture of the soccer ball Click on the FORMAT tab 3. Select the Artistic Effects button in the Adjust group. The Artistic Effects gallery is displayed. 4. Select the desired effect. The Artistic Effects gallery closes and the selected effect is applied to the picture. Click Click on Pencil Grayscale (1st row, 3rd col) Apply Animation Effects Concepts In PowerPoint, you can animate text and objects such as clip art, shapes, and pictures. Animation, or movement, on the slide can be used to draw the audience's attention to specific content or to make the slide easier to read. There are many different animation effects that you can choose from, and they are organized into four types: Entrance: These control how the object enters the slide. For example, with the Bounce animation, the object will fall onto the slide and then bounce several times. Emphasis: These animations occur while the object is on the slide, often triggered by a mouse click. For example, you can set an object to Spin when you click the mouse. Exit: These control how the object exits the slide. For example, with the Fade animation, the object will simply fade away. Page 10 COMAT Training Services
Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Tips and Tricks PowerPoint Motion Paths: These are similar to Emphasis effects, except the object moves within the slide along a pre-determined path, for example a circle. Steps To animate text and objects in a presentation: From the student data folder, open WORLD18.PPTX. Display slide 6 in Normal view. 1. Select the object you want to animate. The object is selected. 2. Select the ANIMATIONS tab. The ANIMATIONS tab is displayed. Click the money key clip Click on the ANIMATIONS tab 3. Select the desired animation from the Animation gallery. The desired animation is selected. Click 4. To change the direction of the animation, select the Effect Options button. The related list of effect options is displayed. 5. Click Click Reuse Your Animation Effects with Animation Painter Concepts Copying a similar animation to another object can be quick and easy using Animation Painter COMAT Training Services Page 11
