3 Brief History of ANTAM The Asian and Pacific Network for Testing of Agricultural Machinery (ANTAM) was proposed at the Roundtable Forum for the Regional Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers/Distributors Associations held by CSAM (then called UNAPCAEM) in Seoul, Korea in After a series of preparatory studies conducted by CSAM, ANTAM was officially launched on 18 November 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand at a regional policymakers roundtable. To date, 16 member States/region of ESCAP have designated national focal points for ANTAM (Armenia; Bangladesh; Cambodia; China; France; Hong Kong/China; India; Indonesia; Malaysia; Pakistan; Russia; Republic of Korea; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Turkey; Vietnam) The 1st annual meeting of ANTAM was held on September in Beijing, China. Agreed at the meeting, member States decided to set up a Technical Working Group to work on three sets of codes: power tiller, sprayers and ROPS for tractors.

4 Technical Working Group (TWG) The TWG is composed of technical experts nominated by member States in the field of agricultural engineering and machinery testing. In February 2015, CSAM received 19 nominations from 12 countries in the region. The final composition of the TWG includes upon confirmation: Bangladesh; Cambodia; China; India; France; Pakistan; Philippines; Russia; Sri Lanka; Thailand and Vietnam. The TWG has been divided in three sub-working groups: Sub-Working Group on Power Tillers (SWGPT) and Sub-Working Group on Sprayers (SWGS) and Sub-Working Group on ROPS for Tractors (SWGRT).

5 The Sub-Working Group on Sprayers Composition: Zhang Xiaochen, China; Jean-Paul Douzals, France; Ayesha Herath, Sri Lanka; K. N. Agrawal, India; Ngo Van Phuong, Vietnam. Rounds of technical consultations: 3 rounds of consultations (Feb. 27 th ; Mar 25 th and April 15 th ). Priority areas: i. Specification check test; ii. Engine performance test; iii. Joints, hose, tanks, straps, controls test; iv. Blower test; v. Misting, dusting & droplet size tests; vi. Noise and vibration test. Status quo: Details of the priority areas to be agreed upon.

6 The Sub-Working Group on Power Tillers Composition: Israil Hossain, Bangladesh; Sinh Chao, Cambodia; Chang Xiongbo, China; C. R. Lohi, India; Jandool Khan, Pakistan; Darwin Aranguren, Philippines; Vadim Pronin, Russia; Anuchit Chamsing, Thailand. Rounds of technical consultations: four rounds of consultations (Mar. 4 th ; Mar. 27 th ; Apr. 9 th and Apr. 21 st ) Priority areas: i. Checking of specifications ii. Engine performance test iii. Vibration measurement test iv. Drawbar performance test v. Turning ability test vi. Parking brake test. Status quo: 2 nd Draft completed.

7 The Sub-Working Group on ROPS for Tractors Composition: China, India and Russia. The Sub-working Group on ROPS for Tractors have agreed that ANTAM should adopt OECD testing codes for ROPS with possible simplifications. Status quo: No actions have been taken. A new Chair needs to be elected. The ANTAM Secretariat suggests that after the 1 st TWG, the three members would work together to produce a document in writing for circulation among all TWG members for agreement.

8 Expected Outcomes of the 1 st TWG Meeting At the end of the meeting, each group is expected to deliver: 1. General text 2. Codes 3. Specimen test report

9 Structure of the 1 st TWG Meeting The meeting is structured as shown below: Plenary session. Parallel sub working groups discussions: each group is strongly suggested to first focus on the tests, followed by the general text and then test reports and forward. At the end of each day there will be one brief plenary session to share the outcome of the parallel sessions.

10 The Next Steps of ANTAM ANTAM draft test codes will be sent to OECD and the Italian Agency for Agricultural Mechanization (ENAMA), the Technical Reference Unit (TRU) of ANTAM for technical review and suggestions. ANTAM Regional Training- Nanjing, China June 23-27, 2015: testing engineers from member countries will be trained on the application of ANTAM test codes and procedures. Member countries will run voluntary tests based on ANTAM test codes. Russia has agreed to conduct power tiller test.

11 The Next Steps of ANTAM ANTAM 2 nd Annual Meeting: December, New Delhi. The outcome of the TWG work will be presented to delegates from member countries and the codes will be reviewed and adopted. Official launch of ANTAM website and logo of ANTAM. Information brochure about ANTAM test codes will be prepared and circulated among member States and the private sector.
