3 Section 1 Introduction Introduction The AM8074 software is custom PC software designed to automate the process of measuring parts with a Beta LaserMike PrecisionPro 6000 processor, laser scanner, and a specialized fixture. AM8074 Software Installation Although the AM8074 software creates a number of files when it is run, there is only one file needed for installation. To install the AM8074 software, create a directory on the C: drive named C:\AM8074 and copy the file named AM8074.exe to that directory. To run AM8074, click Run on the Windows Start Menu and select C:\AM8074\AM8074.exe, double click C:\AM8074\AM8074.exe from within Windows Explorer, or create and use a shortcut on the Windows desktop. Running AM8074 for the First Time The first time AM8074 is run, the communication parameters of the PC are defaulted to 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit with the COM Port set to OFF for PrecisionPro 6000 communications. Communications with the motor drive are defaulted to OFF. The communications parameters are defaulted to 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit with the COM Port set to OFF for communications with WinWedge and the Filemaker database. Be sure to match the PrecisionPro 6000 serial port configuration (refer to the PrecisionPro 6000 Operator s Manual) to the Com Port settings of AM8074. Any changes made to the AM8074 COM Port Settings will be saved to disk and retrieved each time AM8074 is run. 09/Aug/09 Page 1 of 5

4 Section 2 AM8074 Main Window Serial No. Part Type Start Enter the serial number. Select the part type from the drop down list. The choices are Punch, Die, Redraw, and Blank. Click Start to begin the measurement cycle. At the completion of the measurement cycle, measurement data will be transmitted from the PrecisionPro 6000 to the PC. When Punch is selected as the Part Type, Size and Trans are the displayed measurement values. When Die, Redraw, or Blank are selected, Diam is the only displayed measurement value. Abort Click Abort to abort a measurement cycle and prepare to start over. 09/Aug/09 Page 2 of 5

5 Accept Reject Click Accept to transmit the Serial Number and measurement data out the specified COM Port to be received by WinWedge and inserted into the Filemaker database. Click Reject to discard the displayed data without transmitting. AM8074 Menu To access the AM8074 Menu, click Menu in the upper left hand corner of the Main Page. COM Ports Exit About Click COM Ports to configure the COM Ports for communication with the PrecisionPro 6000, the motor drive, and output to the Filemaker database. Click Exit to exit from AM8074. 6 Section 3 COM Port Settings Click COM Ports on the Menu to display the Configure COM Ports window. COM Port settings are saved to disk and retrieved each time AM8074 is run. - PrecisionPro Com Port Baud Rate Parity Specifies the COM Port of the PC to which the PrecisionPro 6000 is connected. Specifies the baud rate of the serial communication between the PC and the PrecisionPro 6000 (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, ). Specifies the parity for the serial communication between the PC and the PrecisionPro 6000 (none, odd, or even). 09/Aug/09 Page 4 of 5

7 Data Bits Stop Bits Specifies the number of data bits for the serial communication between the PC and PrecisionPro 6000 (7 or 8). Specifies the number of stop bits for the serial communication between the PC and the PrecisionPro 6000 (1 or 2). - Motor Drive - COM Port Specifies the COM Port of the PC to which the motor drive is connected. Communications with the motor drive are fixed at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, even parity, and 1 stop bit. - Output to Filemake - Com Port Baud Rate Parity Data Bits Stop Bits Specifies the COM Port of the PC to which the WinWedge COM port is connected. Specifies the baud rate of the serial communication with WinWedge (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, ). Specifies the parity for the serial communication WinWedge (none, odd, or even). Specifies the number of data bits for the serial communication with WinWedge (7 or 8). Specifies the number of stop bits for the serial communication between with WinWedge (1 or 2).
