1 Mindray Panorama Patient Monitoring Network Configuration This page describes configuration of the Mindray Panorama system and the Vocera TAP adapter for Mindray when implementing the EMDAN product. The Mindray Panorama Patient Monitoring Network consists of two local area networks (LAN): a Panorama Central Network (C-LAN) and a Panorama Patient Network (E-LAN). The C-LAN manages stored patient data and controls the data flow between systems. The E-LAN manages real-time data by controlling the flow of data that is transmitted to/from the bedside monitors, and the Panorama Wireless Network. The Panorama Central Network is connected to the Vocera appliance via a TAP adapter. A serial cable or Digibox is required to receive information from the Panorama Central Network. A Mindray Panorama adapter must be installed at each Unit within a facility. For example, a separate Panorama adapter may be installed in the NICU and the ICU. Vocera supports up to two instances of the Panorama adapter. Use the installation instructions in this documentation for each instance of the Panorama adapter that is installed. For detailed instructions on the configuration of the Passport or DPM6 monitor, refer to the attached Mindray Panorama 11.3 Operating Manual. Mindray Panorama delivers an alarm only once. As a result, the adapter will process only one alert per Mindray alarm. Page 1

2 Mindray Panorama Adapter Create a Mindray adapter on the appliance. Configure the settings as follows. An additional Mindray adapter will need to be set up on the appliance for every Mindray Central Network in the facility. 3 Common Settings System Type: Generic TAP Password: Password expected from the TAP sender. Alphanumeric string, or leave this blank. Message Timeout: Configure the time allowed between TAP messages before an audit event is reported. Leave this blank to disable the audit event. 5 Message Types The Message Type content listed here and in the screenshot below contain an example of these settings for a Panorama adapter configuration. These settings should be updated to match the messages received from the Panorama system at your installation site. Refer to Regular Expressions (Regex) for additional information about creating and using regular expressions in message types. Reference Name: Assign a name for this Mindray alert. Active: Select the checkbox to enable the adapter. Starting Dataset: Clinicals Regex: (.+):Bed:(\d+)-(\d+)\sName:(.+?)\s(.+) Regex Mapping: bed.room.facility.name=facility bed.room.unit.name=$1 bed.room.room_number=$2 bed.bed_number=$3 clinical_patient.last_name=$4 alert_type=$5 clinical_id=mr:facility$1$2$3$5#{now.as_iso} activity_state=active alarm_time=#{now} If you want to store the recipient, select the checkbox for Store Message Recipient and enter clinical.to.number in the Recipient field. The values in the regular expression mappings should be updated based on the messages received from the Mindray monitor and the facility configuration. Facility: value is not received and must be hardcoded. The Implementation Specialist may configure this. Bed Number: mapped to clinical.bed.room.room_number. If the value received is not consistent with the naming used by the facility, the Implementation Specialist may hardcode a value such as "1". Page 5

6 Clinical ID: this is a unique identifier for the alert composed of an adapter prefix, location, alert type, and alarm time. Activity State: value is not received and must be set to ACTIVE for new alerts. Alarm Time: value is not received and must be set to current time for new alerts. Mindray Paging Configuration The pagers.ini file is one of the files saved to the Emergency Disk. Create an Emergency Disk to save this file. The following instructions are taken directly from Mindray. Please keep in mind that Mindray typically works with Pagers as opposed to telephones. For installation purposes, please add in telephone numbers wherever Pager numbers are required. The paging interface to the Central Station is through the 2 nd serial port. A null modem cable or adapter will be required ( not supplied by Mindray). One Panorama Central Station will be configured to be the Page Master. The Paging master setup is a check box in the System Config Tool menu. The Paging Master s pagers.ini file must be configured to match the paging system s parameters. The Panorama default values are as follows: Port = 2 Baudrate = 9600 Databits = 8 Parity = None Page 6

Stopbits = 1 Flow Control = Hardware If the pagers.ini file must be changed to meet the paging system requirements, the file must be edited. To edit the file: Go to the Windows desktop.

Go to the Datascope directory, then select the Config directory. Select All files in the Types of files window. Select pagers.ini and press Open. Modify the required parameters. Press File.

7 Stopbits = 1 Flow Control = Hardware If the pagers.ini file must be changed to meet the paging system requirements, the file must be edited. To edit the file: Go to the Windows desktop. Press the Start key in the lower left corner of the display Press Run. Type Notepad in the command box. Press OK. Press File. Press Open. Go to the Datascope directory, then select the Config directory. Select All files in the Types of files window. Select pagers.ini and press Open. Modify the required parameters. Press File. Select Save. Press File. Press Exit. Double click on the system config tool icon. Press the Save key. Shut down the system and re-start. Testing Comm (Serial) port 2 Complete the following steps to set up the Testing Comm port 2. Press OK. Install a loop-back connector to Serial Port 2 on the Central Station to be tested. Go to the Windows desktop. Press the Start key in the lower left corner of the display. Press Run. In the Run window type: hypertrm Press OK. When New Connection window opens, enter a connection name and press OK. If necessary, select United States and area code 201. Connect via COM2 (See image below). Press OK. Set the hyperterminal communications settings to what is being used by the system to communicate to the paging system. Default settings are: Baudrate: 9600 Databits: 8 Parity: None Stopbits: 1 Flow Control: Hardware After Hyperterminal is communicating, type the word ping. If the word ping is displayed within the hyperterminal window, the Serial port is active and communicating properly. Close hyperterminal. Go to the Config tool and press save. After the Config tool closes, re-boot the Central Station. Panorama Serial Number Starting with RM Paging Use the following information to configure the paging system. Page 7

System Setup: System Alarm Response Tab System Alarms The paging delay, alarm delay, and priority levels can be configured to suit the needs of your facility. Paging delay, 5-30 seconds in 5 second intervals Alarm delay, 0-8 seconds in 1 second intervals Alarms are only sent once System Setup: Installation Setup - System Alarms Paging Setup The Add Pager sidebar button allows for adding a pager s information on the Panorama Central Station. The Edit Pager sidebar button allows for editing a pager s information on the Panorama Central Station. To add a pager: Select Add Pager. Enter Pager Number and Pager Assignment (i.e. RN s Name) using the on screen keyboard. Select Done to accept or Cancel to reject. To edit a pager: Select Edit Pager. Enter Pager Number and Pager Assignment (i.e., RN s Name) using the on screen keyboard. Select Done to accept or Cancel to reject. Page 8

Changing the Demographic Options The facility can determine how the paging options are displayed. There are three options for configuration: Bed, Bed and Last Name, or Bed and Patient ID.
