1 Information for Exams on 5-11 June 2018 This document is designed to be read alongside the Exam Arrangements Booklet for Like the booklet, it assumes you have access to the internet and StudentHome so includes links to various online resources which you may need to refer to. If you ve received a printed version and don t have internet access or find online resources difficult to use, please speak to your student support team and they ll be happy to help. Please note: students on B690 should read the Information for Exams document dated 6 June Students sitting other module exams on 6 June should read this document. Changes to your Exam Centre When we first allocated you to your exam centre, we gave you a link to the Exam Arrangements booklet. We also told you about the deadlines for changing to a different established exam centre (a list of established centres is available on the Help Centre) or asking to sit your exam outside the UK at a non-established centre (which you need to pay a fee for). There are other deadlines in place, for example if you need to ask for adjustments or you can t attend your exam on religious grounds. It s highly unlikely we ll be able to accommodate requests for changes after the deadlines set out in the Help Centre. If you ve got any concerns about how this will impact your studies, please contact your student support team. If you need to postpone your June exam If you can t attend your exam due to circumstances beyond your control, such as illness or bereavement, you may be granted a discretionary postponement to the next opportunity for your module. For more information, and details of how to apply for discretionary postponement, see the Exam Arrangements Booklet, Section 16: Non-attendance at your exam. Resit and postponed results for June exams Please read the following information carefully, as different arrangements apply depending on which module you re studying. If you re studying K802, M820, M821, M823, M828, M833 or M835 If you get a Fail: Entitled to Resit or Postponed result If you re awarded a Fail: Entitled to Resit result or granted a discretionary postponement for your exam in June, your next exam opportunity will be on either 20 or 21 September 2018 (for K802 it will be on either 16 or 17 October 2018). This may be at a different centre to your original exam. It s not possible for you to elect to postpone your exam in September/October 2018 to the last opportunity for your module. If you can t complete your resit or postponed exam because of serious, unexpected circumstances, you ll need to apply for discretionary postponement. You should contact your student support team to confirm the next exam date for your module and they can advise on any implications postponement may have on your further study. More information is available from the Help Centre. Copyright 2018 The Open University SUP S Version
2 If you re studying any other module with an exam 5 11 June 2018 (except B690) If you get a Fail: Entitled to Resit result Your resit exam will be on 26 September This may be at a different centre to your exam in June. If you don t want to take the resit in September, you can elect to postpone to the last exam opportunity for your module in June 2019 (for W300 it will be in December 2018). You must tell us you want to electively postpone before midnight (UK local time) of the day following your resit exam using the webform. If you don t tell us by the deadline and you don t attend your resit exam in September, you ll be issued with a Fail: No Resit result. If you re granted a discretionary postponement for your June exam You ll be automatically registered for the next exam on 26 September Unlike students taking a resit exam, you can t elect to postpone your exam to the last opportunity for your module. If you re unable to sit your exam on 26 September 2018, you ll need to make a further application for discretionary postponement. You should contact your student support team to confirm the next exam date for your module and they can advise on any implications postponement may have on your further study. More information is available from the Help Centre. Rules for individual modules The information shown is correct at the time of going to press, and you ll be contacted if the information for your module changes. For clarification of the general rules, levels of annotation (if applicable) and calculator type please see the Exam Arrangements Booklet for 2018, Appendix 1: Exam materials.
