Put the tool into service as described in the user manual delivered with the tool or available at desouttertools.com. Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. When the tool is powered on, the Desoutter logo is displayed and the LEDs are blinking. Wait for a few seconds while the software is being initialized. Follow the steps in the chart below to display the different menus and get used to the buttons and icons.... The tool is connected to the controller. The tool Wi-Fi board is locked. Refer to the chapter "Troubleshooting". The tool is not connected to the controller. Check the cable between the controller and the access point. Check the communication settings. There are no results in the memory board. The results and curves are stored in the memory board. They are sent to the controller regularly. The memory board is full or locked. Blinking The tool cannot run anymore. Contact your local Desoutter Steady representative for more information. Pset 2 is the next Pset to run. The tool is ready to start. There is no Pset selected. The tool is locked. Select a Pset. Pset 4 is selected. The tool is locked. Check the batch count status. 6 _04 ExBC software 4 - HOW TO CREATE PSETS AND ASSEMBLY PROCESSES When delivered, the battery nutrunner has no tightening process. P0 is displayed (no Pset) and the tool is locked. Launch CVI CONFIG software to create Psets and Assembly Processes. A simple Pset can also be created from the CVI3 Vision controller. Create as many Psets/Assembly processes as you want. For each of them, enter a description which will be displayed on the tool screen. Transfer the data to the battery nutrunner. Refer to the CVI CONFIG user manual at resource-center.desouttertools.com. 5 - HOW TO START A PSET Pset selection In CVI CONFIG, check that the "Default Pset selection source" in the configuration of the Tightening Unit is set to "Tool display". From the main screen, press the right button briefly. The current Pset is displayed. Press OK to enter the change mode. The Pset number turns orange. Use the left or right button to scroll through the list. Press OK to select the displayed Pset. The Pset is now in blue. Once the Pset is selected and the tool is ready, the Pset number turns green. Press the trigger to start the process. When out of tolerances, a voice message is heard: torque error angle error torque & angle error For high torque tools running in severe applications, it may happen that reports are null when the battery is low Reverse Pre-requisite When delivered, the reverse function is disabled Ergostop This function allows a smoother tool stop to reduce the torque reaction on the operator. When delivered, this function is disabled. The Ergostop function must be disabled for tightening tests or certification on tightening benches. Refer to CVI config to set up ergostop settings Sound Voice messages have been created to alert the operator in case of problems or events that may happen during the tightenings operation. The voice messages concern the following topics : Tightening out of tolerances. Calibration procedure. Preventive maintenance. Low battery. Hardware failure. Maintenance. When delivered, this function is disabled. Refer to CVI CONFIG to set up sound settings. 6 - USING ICONS Press this icon: to validate to wake up the tool to reverse (EAB models only) This icon and the message Low battery are displayed when the battery is low and a voice message can be heard when the sound function is enabled. The tool cannot run anymore. Load the battery by using the Desoutter battery charger. The Pset/Maintenance password is locked. The Pset/Maintenance password is unlocked. The amount of tightenings that can be performed with a fully loaded battery depends on the tool model and application (from 100 to 1,000 tightenings with a 36 V 1.3 Ah battery pack). Refer to CVI CONFIG to set up reverse settings How to reverse To free the assembly, press the Reverse button. LEDs will alternatively blink red and green. The tool rotates clockwise or counterclockwise dependig on the thread direction already set up in the Pset. 6 / 9 01/2018
7 ExBC software 7 - HOW TO START AN ASSEMBLY PROCESS In CVI CONFIG, check that the "Running mode" in the configuration of the Tightening Unit is set to "Assembly Process". From the main screen, press and hold the right button. Press OK to enter the change mode. The AP number turns orange. Use the left or right button to scroll through the list. Press OK to select the displayed AP. The new AP number is now in blue. Once the AP is selected and the tool is ready, the AP number turns green. Press the trigger to start the process Aborting the assembly process STOP Abort AP Press the left button to stop the complete Assembly Process Other batch actions These actions are protected by the "Maintenance" password. To have them available, enter the Maintenance password in the "Configuration" menu. During the Assembly Process, press the left button to activate the actions Batch count and ellipse display _04 In the controller, check that "Batch count" and "Ellipse" are ticked in the menu "Display parameters" in the configuration of the Tightening Unit. When the process is done, the results are displayed. Torque & angle values Batch count N m Deg A batch is the number of Psets run in the same Assembly Process actions. B a t ch count 2 / 5 Batch increment Batch decrement Batch reset To skip one bolt. To redo the last bolt. To restart the complete batch. Ellipse The ellipse represents the batches. In this example, 3 tightenings out of 4 are completed. 3 / 4 01/ / 9
8 _04 ExBC software 8 - MAINTENANCE How to set the password By default, the maintenance password is set to 1. To set a new password, the current password must be disabled and the green padlock displayed. This function is set in the "Configuration" menu: Enter a figure from 0 to 999. Setting the password at 0 will disable all password protections. Save the new password as follows: Press OK: the password is saved. Press OK: the password is not saved Tool calibration The calibration procedure is recommended to compensate for any possible drift of the tool torque or after each change of tool element. This function is set in the "Maintenance" menu. Enter the Maintenance password in the "Configuration" menu. Insert a torque transducer in line with the tool and connect it to any measuring unit from the Desoutter range. Go to the "Maintenance" menu and press OK. The tool is ready. Enter the number of tightenings needed to execute the calibration. Run the "Auto" Pset (already programmed with the tool nominal torque). If more than 5 tightenings are required, you can go on with 5 extra tightenings by pressing the trigger. At the end, the average torque value is displayed in white. On the red line below, enter the average torque value measured by the measuring unit (± 20 % vs the tool nominal torque are allowed). Use the left/right buttons to increase or decrease the value. Press OK and save your data Service alarm When a new battery is plugged in, the following may be displayed when service is required: This icon is displayed. A service message is displayed (see below). Go to "Maintenance/Service alarm" menu and press OK. When no service is required, "none" is displayed. There are 3 service levels: Level Number of tightenings Service type 1 25,000 Calibration 2 250,000 Intermediate** 3 500,000 Standard ** this type of service is required for heavy duty applications only Tool information (read-only) Go to "Maintenance/tool" menu. Total counter Battery T Number of tightenings done since the manufacturing ot the tool. P Number of pulses done since the manufacturing ot the tool (BLRT tools only). The current voltage value is displayed. Min/Max voltage values allowed depend on battery model. Software version Serial 12A64685 for example. number The amount of tightenings that can be performed with a fully loaded battery depends on the battery model, the tool model and application (from 100 to 1,000 tightenings with a 36V 1.3Ah battery pack). 8 / 9 01/2018
9 ExBC software Network Go to "Maintenance/network" menu. Check that the values are in accordance with those programmed in "CVI Monitor" and the controller. Check the settings of the Wi Fi parameters, IP adresses and communication port in the controller, the tool and the access point. The tool is locked. Check the settings of the tightening processes (Pset and/or Assembly Process). This generic fault message indicates that tool is locked. Press trigger to get more user information. Contact your Desoutter representative for support. Display remains black. None of the LEDs are turned on. The tool is not able to start. For 18V battery, tool stops at 15V and for 36V battery, at 31V. Replace battery by a one fully loaded. Contact your Desoutter representative for support. The tool is locked. Check that the correct Pset or AP is ready to start. Refer to the Appendix "User info codes" Upgrade firmware and tool test These functions are described in the user manual of "CVI MONITOR" software available at RESULTS COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Tightening results and curves are regularly sent to the CVI3 Vision controller by using the Wi-Fi connection. Refer to the user manual of the "CVI3 Vision" controller and "CVI3 Suite" software available at 01/ / 9
10 APPENDIX - USER INFO CODES User info codes are messages displayed on the system or tool display. Information For information only. No action is required. Warning The tool is locked. Tap the message to unlock the tool. Error The tool is locked. The issue has to be solved to unlock the tool and clear the error message. Number Description Procedure I004 Span failure 1- Span value from torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Try once again to start the tool with no mechanical constraints. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. I005 Offset failure 1- Offset value from torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Try once again to start the tool with no mechanical constraints. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. I026 Tool maintenance alarm n1 1- The tool tightening counter has been reached. I027 Tool maintenance alarm n2 1- The tool tightening counter has been reached. I038 Tool logs 1- Unexpected tool software exception. 2- Log file has been generated by the tool. 3- Contact your Desoutter representative for support. I046 Abnormal battery current 1- Abnormal battery current consumption. Check the Pset settings. 2- This error can be due to wrong speed settings. I205 Torque settings 1- Invalid Torque setting: torque is greater than tool characteristics. 2- Check Pset settings with the tool characteristics. I206 Speed settings 1- Invalid speed setting: speed is greater than tool characteristics. 2- Check Pset settings with the tool maximum speed. I210 Invalid Pset selected 1- The selected Pset does not match the Pset selectable in the Assembly Process. I211 Invalid trigger configuration 1- The tool connected to the system is not equipped with the trigger required by the trigger configuration. 2- Adjust your trigger configuration to the tool or change the tool according to the trigger configuration. I224 IGBT too hot 1- Power electronics too warm. 2- Let the system cool down. I251 No Pset selected 1- No Pset selected. 2- Select a Pset. I922 Additional transducer span failure 1- Span value from additional torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Restart the tool with no mechanical constraints. 3- If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. W010 Tool calibration expired 1- The tool calibration date has expired. 2- A tool calibration needs to be done to ensure the measurement accuracy. W028 Battery tool version error 1 - Battery tool version and system version are not compatible. W030 The battery is low 1- The battery is low. 2- Recharge the battery. W033 Tool time error 1- The tool time is not set correctly. The tightening results will not be time stamped. 2- Connect the tool to the system to set date and time. W036 Tool memory full 1- The tool memory is full. 2- Connect the tool to the system to empty the memory. W039 Tightening unit configuration error 1- Tightening unit settings are invalid Appendix - User info codes _04/2018

If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. 1- The tool memory cannot be read or is invalid. 2- The tool needs maintenance. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. E018 Torque out of range! E029 The battery is empty 1- The target torque value is above the tool maximum torque. 2- Check Pset settings with tool characteristics. 1- The battery back is discharged. The tool cannot tighten. 2- Recharge the battery pack. E031 E032 E034 E035 E037 Battery error Tool display error Tool memory error Tool memory locked Tool trigger error 1- Abnormal battery voltage. The tool cannot tighten. 2- Recharge the battery pack. If the problem occurs again, replace the battery pack. 1- Board display malfunction. 2- Contact your Desoutter representative for support. 1- The tool memory does not work properly. 2- Contact your Desoutter representative for support. 1- The tool memory is locked to protect old data from rewriting. 2- Connect the tool to the computer via edock to retrieve old data. 1- The tool trigger does not work properly. 2- Check and clean the trigger. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. E045 E047 E048 Abnormal battery voltage Battery is too low Battery type not allowed 1- Check the battery pack. 2- This error can be due to charger malfunction or end of life battery. 1- Check the battery pack. 2- If the problem occurs again, replace the battery pack. 1- Battery type not allowed. 2- Replace the battery pack or your configuration. E223 Drive init error 1- Software failure. 2- Restart the system. 3- If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. E227 Motor stalled 1- Motor stalled (could be missing phase, wrong motortune or power electronics failure) 2- Try once again. 3- If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support.
