1 Page: 1 of 8 Remote Annunciator Controller (RAC) Instruction Sheet for Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) Revision:04 IB E 1.1 Remote Annunciator Controller (RAC) and 1 Switch (ATC-600/800) via Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet Gateway (PXG-200/400/600E) The RAC is a touch screen, color display with easy-to-use functions to provide a powerful interface to an Automatic Transfer Switch. It provides display status only of the ATS switch. No HMI controls are available when using the PXG. 2 Page: 2 of Features There are two types of features incorporated into the RAC: Status and Control. Below are lists of each: Status Type S1 & S2 Available S1 & S2 Connected S1 & S2 Preferred S2 Connected Alarm Source 1 Data Information Source 2 Data Information Load Data Information Lockout Status History and Frequency of Alarms Control Type Silence Alarm System Setup 1.3 Set-up and Wiring The RAC requires 24VDC power supplying a maximum current of 125 ma. There is a connector provided on the back of the unit to terminate power supply wires. The HMI may or may not come pre-programmed. This is because the unit will need to be programmed with the proper IP settings for the HMI and for the PXG gateway. The IP addresses may not have been known at the time of shipping and will need to be setup in the field. The communications to the ATS switch is accomplished by an INCOM module (IPONI) connected to the PXG gateway. Drawing 66A8395E shows the wiring of the unit, which includes the power connection and the communication network. The cable used should have two insulated wires and one ground connected to the shield of the cable on one end only. The recommended cable is Belden 9463 family, but there are many other twisted shielded pair cables that can be used. The gateway connects to the HMI s LAN port using a standard Ethernet CAT5E cable. 4 Page: 4 of 8 The ATC-800 s IPONI must be set to match the configuration setup in the PXG: Baud Rate must match PXG setting A0/A1/A2 Address must match PXG setting There is a system menu on the HMI that allows the operator to change items like touch screen force, touch screen calibration, time & date, brightness & contrast, alarm and touch volume, and others. The HMI should be pre-configured so the user does not have to adjust anything in the field. If a change is desired, there are two ways of accomplishing this: The first is to simply press the small SYSTEM button on the back of the unit for two seconds using a pen or screwdriver. The system menu will now be displayed on the screen. The menus are self-explanatory but if help is required, one can download the manual from the Eaton website under HMiSoft User Manual effective February After the adjustments have been made, simply push the SYS button again for two seconds. Also see the instruction leaflet IL E that came with the display. The second method is to press the SYSTEM SETUP button from the main screen, and then press the HMI SETUP button. This is useful if the back of the unit is not easily accessible. 1.4 Screens There are 5 screens that are displayed for the ATS functionality: Top Level, Data, Event History, Password Setup, and System Setup. Each screen has a return button to return to previous screen. If the unit is not communicating with the ATS (i.e., power is off at the ATS), the unit will display a red screen stating a communication error. Each of the screens and the associated buttons are described below. Top Level with S1 Connected 4

5 Page: 5 of 8 Top Level with S2 Connected, Alarm, and Lockout The top level screen shows the status of your ATS switch. The Source Available, Connected, and Preferred indicators will light up to show you what state your switch is in. It allows navigation to the various other menus that the HMI provides. These are described in more detail below. It also includes a Silence Alarm button to silence alarm audio. Events The Events screen displays the S2 alarm history and frequency of when the S2 was connected. The Alarm history displays an O or an X at the beginning to display when the unit was true or false; S2 connected (O) or S2 back to S1 (X). The frequency is a count of how many times that the S2 was connected. To clear the information, simply push the Clear History or Clear Freq buttons. 5

6 Page: 6 of 8 Data Screen The Data Screen shows the voltage of all three phases for both Source 1, Source 2, and the Load as well as frequency for Source 1 and 2. System Setup The System Setup screen allows the user to change the station name that is displayed in the center of the Top Level screen. To change the name, press the gray rectangle and type in your desired name, then press ENT. Pressing the System Setup button will take you to the HMI s setup screen where you can adjust sound levels, brightness, system clock, etc. Pressing the Password Setup button takes you to a set-up screen that allows the user to change passwords for the HMI system. The Password Setup screen is at security level 3, which has a default password of

7 Page: 7 of 8 Password Table This is the Password Table popup menu. You can see the current passwords and their security levels. For example, AC44 is the password for security level 2. To change a password, use the arrow keys to highlight the desired password, then type your new password in and hit ENT. When all passwords are to your liking, press Save & Quit. If you change your level 3 password, do not forget it, or you will be locked out of the password table! Default Passwords Password table:
