3 ImageNow Readme for Release 6.6 This Readme file provides important information about the 6.6.x release for ImageNow Server, ImageNow Client, WebNow, and all agents and extensions in this release. Read this file before you begin your installation. This file explains where to locate the installation and update information, lists enhancements and bug fixes, and provides specific information that might apply to your setup. Links to additional resources are also included in this file. To access the ImageNow websites referenced in this file, you must connect to the Internet. System requirements Before proceeding, confirm that you downloaded the correct installer for your environment. Then verify that your environment meets or exceeds the minimum requirements specified in the Technical Specifications for ImageNow 6.6.x. To view this document: 1. Go to log in to the Customer Portal, and then select Product Documentation. 2. Select 6.6 as your product version. 3. Under Administrator Topics, click Technical Specifications. Make sure you run the same version for all ImageNow products. For example, ImageNow Client 6.6 is compatible only with ImageNow Server 6.6. Perceptive Software does not support the use of earlier versions of the ImageNow Client with ImageNow Server 6.6. 4 Updating or upgrading a previous version of ImageNow Moving from 6.x (6.1.x or 6.2.x) to 6.6.x is considered an update. These instructions appear in the ImageNow Update Readme, version 6.6.x document available at in the Customer Portal, under Downloads. 6 Licensing ImageNow If you are installing ImageNow in a live, production environment, you must register licenses for the ImageNow Server, agents, and clients. Contact your Sales Representative or Project Manager for more information about generating licenses. If you are installing ImageNow for evaluation purposes, you do NOT need to create a license. You will be able to use ImageNow to scan and store up to 500 document images with five users or scan and store unlimited documents for 30 days. To exceed this limit, however, you must purchase and register an ImageNow license. If you have the license information, you can enter it now to create a license. If you need licensing information, call Perceptive Software at or the Sales Department at sales@perceptivesoftware.com. Limitations and notes 1. Although the ImageNow Server is available as a 64 bit application, the ImageNow Client remains a 32 bit application that is capable of running on Windows 7 64-bit. Limitations to running this combination include: Sending to Outlook. When sending from the ImageNow Client running on Windows 7 64-bit via Outlook, note that Outlook must be installed as a 32-bit application. Scanning. When implementing scanning on Vista or Windows 7 on an ImageNow Client machine, check with the scanner manufacturer to verify that the scanner has a certified driver for your operating system. USB scanners are supported in Windows Vista. Page 6 of 7

7 2. An important note about Envoy capabilities involves the transcoders, which are supported. For example, if you attempt to add a remote service from a site that uses an 'ISO transcoder, Envoy returns an exception. Message Agent: In previous versions, all date values passed into or received from Message Agent had to be in standard "epoch date format. In release 6.6, date values must be in GMT time. 4. Message Agent: The WORKFLOW_DOC_GET_INFO and the WORKFLOW_QITEM_GET operations will be deprecated in future releases. Instead, use the WORKFLOW_QITEM_GET_INFO operation to accomplish the same functions as these operations. The WORKFLOW_QITEM_GET_INFO operation includes additional parameters to support projects as well. 5. WebNow: Due to a limitation of the Java implementation on Macintosh computers, when printing on the Macintosh computer, you can only print all pages in a document. Page ranges do not print correctly. Perceptive Software is unsure when Apple will correct this problem. 6. WebNow: If you are using large or complex XSL files with worksheets, be aware that there is a known issue caused by Apache Tomcat webserver and Sun JVM, version 1.5 through 1.6. Although the actual size may vary, when the XSL file size increases beyond 90 KB, Tomcat, combined with these versions of Java, produces an error. To work around this issue, you can do one of the following actions: Install a different webserver or divide the XSL file into smaller files. If you create smaller XSL files, in WebNow, set up one presentation per XSL file. Then, you can attach one presentation to a worksheet and then attach the second presentation to the same worksheet. Then, in the viewer, you can view either presentation because they both share the same XML file. Known Issues for ImageNow products 1. Message Agent: Within the DOCUMENT_RETURN and DOCUMENT_RETURN_SWA operations, using the DOC_OUTPUT_FORMAT element without specifying a value can cause the MA service to stop. (QA 12901) 2. Server: Network: There is a known issue in which inservermq cannot disconnect a user who was disconnected due to a loss of network connection. In addition, there is a known issue that can occur if a network disconnection or a switch from wired to wireless connection requires a 15 minute wait before the in_lic_mon table is cleared for that user/license type. (QA 12977) 3. Content Server: At this time, the Content Server does not support Office 2007 files. (QA LM7V8KA8) Page 7 of 7
