1 INTRODUCTION The Pantograph Menu provides access to four main functions: printing sample pantograph pages, printing pattern quality test pages, adjusting pattern quality settings, and restoring factory default settings. The Pantograph Menu makes it simple to change settings by enabling a printer console operator to access these functions directly without sending jobs to the printer from a host PC. The document provides guidance on the printer control panel access to change the pantograph parameters. Note: If you have not read the TROY TONER LOW NOTICE WARNING, please do so and take the appropriate actions before continuing. TROY PANTOGRAPH MENU The printer control panel access is provided through the TROY Pantograph Menu. The tree for the Secure Rx Pantograph Quality Settings menu is grouped into four major functions. Note: A graphic of the menu system is provided on the last page of this document. PRINT SAMPLE PANTOGRAPH Prints a specific pantograph pattern. Printer operators can view a hardcopy result of pantograph patterns at the current quality parameter. PRINT PATTERN QUALITY TEST Prints a multi-page print showing patterns. Each pattern is printed in a range of quality settings. Printer operators can view hardcopy results of a pattern in various densities as an aid to select the desired quality parameters. ADJUST PATTERN QUALITY SETTINGS Allows the printer operator to set the quality parameter for a specific pattern. This function requires the printer operator to be logged in with administrative permissions. RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS Allows the printer operator to reset all pantograph parameter settings to the original TROY settings. This function requires the printer operator to be logged in with administrative permissions. ADMINISTRATIVE LOG-IN INSTRUCTIONS As previously identified in the bullets above, the printer operator must be logged-in as ADMIN for two of TROY Pantograph Menu functions (ADJUST PATTERN QUALITY SETTINGS and RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS). The instructions provided below are for a blank ADMIN password, which is default. If an administrator has changed the ADMIN password, obtain the appropriate ADMIN password from the administrator. 1. From the printer console showing the Ready state, click the OK (depending on printer model) once to enter the P/N Rev A Page 1 of 5
2 3. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Security Menu and click the OK once to select the security menu. 4. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the User ID and click the OK once to select the security menu. 5. Select Login and then press OK. Use the up or down arrow to select a character and the OK to accept the character. Enter the word ADMIN and then click the OK once more. The display will then show the password menu. 6. Press OK to access the password entry screen. 7. Use the OK to enter a blank password. 8. Use the Home key to return to exit the menu system. TROY PANTOGRAPH MENU INSTRUCTIONS An example use of the TROY Pantograph Menu would be to try variations on the original setup of parameters. First use the PRINT SAMPLE PANTOGRAPH to print a sample of each pantograph. Once a pantograph is chosen, use the PRINT PATTERN QUALITY TEST to determine the quality (visibility) that is preferred. Use the ADJUST PATTERN QUALITY SETTINGS to set the quality setting for each desired pantograph in the printer. Then use PRINT SAMPLE PANTOGRAPH again to verify the settings. PRINT SAMPLE PANTOGRAPH Upon completing the steps below, a sample pantograph will print and the printer will exit the menu system and return to the Ready state. 4. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Print Sample Pantograph line and click the OK once to enter the print sample pantograph submenu. 5. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the applicable pattern line and click the OK twice to print sample pantograph. PRINT PATTERN QUALITY TEST Upon completing the steps below, a multi-page sample of pantographs will print and the printer will exit the menu system and return to the Ready state. 3 4. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Print Pattern Quality and click the OK once to enter the pattern quality test menu. 5. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the applicable pattern line and click the OK twice to print the pattern quality test pages. ADJUST PATTERN QUALITY SETTINGS Upon completing the steps below, the printer operator will set the pattern and quality settings and the printer will return to the Ready state. 2. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Administration/TROY Menu line 4. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Adjust Pattern Quality and click the OK once to enter the adjust pattern quality menu. 5. Press OK again to enter the Quality Adjust Screen. Using the up or down arrow button, select a number between 1 and 250 (Note: although the console display shows numbers between 0 and 250, do not use the 0, except to reset the quality to factory default for a specific pantograph.). Click the OK once to set the quality parameter. The Adjust Pattern Quality menu will reappear. 6. Use the down arrow button to navigate down to the applicable Adjust Pattern (1-10) and click the OK twice to set the pattern parameter. 7. Press Home to return the display to the Ready state. RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS Upon completing the steps below, the printer operator will reset the pattern and quality settings to the original TROY settings and the printer will return to the Ready state. 4. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Adjust Pattern Quality and click the OK once to enter the adjust pattern quality menu. P/N Rev A Page 3 of 5
4 5. Using the down arrow button navigate down to the Restore Factory Settings and click the OK twice to reset the pattern and quality parameter settings. Click on the Services and Support button at the top of the web page to view the available topics. You can access the TROY website directly from your web browser at TROY Product Return Policy and Procedure A Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number is always required. Please call toll free MICR (6427) for a return authorization number and shipping instructions. The product should be returned in the original packaging and in new condition. Unauthorized returns, products returned without original packaging, or products showing use or wear will be refused. Damaged products must be reported within 72 hours. Call MICR (6427) and ask for the RGA coordinator. If a product is returned for repair, any physical damage will void the warranty. A 25% restocking fee will be applied to any non-defective items returned within 30 days. No returns will be accepted after 30 days, unless otherwise stated. Pantograph Menu Print Sample Pantograph Page Print Pattern 1 Sample Print Pattern 2 Sample Print Pattern 10 Sample Print Pattern Quality Print Pattern 1 Print Pattern 2 Print Pattern 10 Adjust Pattern Quality Quality Setting Adjust Pattern 1 Restore Factory Settings Adjust Pattern 2 Adjust Pattern 10 PANTOGRAPH MENU can be found under TROY MENUS on the printer console. PRINT SAMPLE PANTOGRAPH PAGE prints a full-page pantograph using the selected pantograph pattern pair, with a default warning box and a 0.6 point MicroPrint border. PRINT PATTERN QUALITY TEST prints a five-page report with 250 small sample pantographs. This shows what the selected pattern pair looks like at each of the 250 possible quality settings. ADJUST PATTERN QUALITY Allows the operator to adjust the quality setting for the selected pattern pair to any of the 250 possible values. This function is only accessible when ADMIN is logged in. RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT Causes all pantograph parameters to revert to their factory default values. This function is only accessible when ADMIN is logged in.
